Ace, we have been playing with the tune all day. Down low is much better and very linear to 8000 RPM. Yes, the rotrex is now spinning to 8K and all I can say is Holy Sh$%. I looked at Jan and just at how fast this thing thing is.

We are still playing into the night and I will report more soon. This is now getting real fun.

Ace, Please sell your car next week so we don't have to hear your BS.

Just went for run number 10. We are spinning this thing to 8k and the thing that just blew me away was when we pulled in and opened the hood. I placed my hand on the exit horn (after the "stock" intercooler) and the thing was barely warm to the touch . I was hammering it for 10 minutes. Unbelievable how cool the Rotrex runs.

Next week we plan to put a smaller pulley on and spin it to 20PSI.

Mario, you need to come down next week and go for a ride .

Ok! Back on the topic. I am very excited about the Rotrex project after what was done today. The car is really really fast. I am willing to give anyone a test drive that is local so they can experience what I am talking about.

I have to admit.... this project has become very fun

I love the sound of the Rotrex.... it's so much better than that awful whining of the Eaton..... I think we put one of these on the 2.0L next

Knowing how the 2.0L pulls versus the 1.6L this should be something and still get great gas mileage. We have a long ways to go but we covered a bunch of ground today.

I will definitely do a kit for the Cooper but it will be a smaller charger

I'm ready for a test drive! I'm glad things are looking up for the Rotex project. I will call you next week for my time slot.
BTW how did the FSD install go.

Progress at last do I wish I could shift at 8000, I'm sure it would be worth at least 2/10ths to 4/10ths

When do you think you'll be hitting the dyno?

I agree, I need to be paying my IRS taxes instead of Mini parts.

It's been a long time coming, after waiting on "said" tuners to do what they promised to do I took matters in my own hands. It's been 4 months of frustration. What is the old adage? If you want it done and done when you need it..... do it yourself?

errrrrr.....something like that

If Longboard can get his car to the dyno next week , we should get some preliminary pulls. With this small charger on there I will be hoping for 250whp+ with over 200 ft. lbs of torque. I haven't really touched the maps up top yet, we just worked on the 1000rpm to 4,000 rpm. The inlet temps are so cool the car BEGS for timing. I woke up at 4am this morning and sketched up the front mount that will eventually go on the car. This car is absolutely going to be an incredible road track car.

I'm at the point of going to get the car by Wed, it's been 4months
I know they have been tuning other cars but this is ridiculous.

In 2 days I have the road stroker 3/4 tuned and the Rotrex which needs totally different maps down low over 1/2 tuned

18psi is correct. Not a problem for the Rotrex. 20psi is max on the unit we are using
If you are making 20psi of boost at a "proposed" 8k redline, wouldn't that give you something like 5psi at 4k?

If that is the case, what are the real advantages of the Rotrex SC other than cooler temps and less noise?

Wouldn't the Rotrex act like a stock SC until you hit the higher revs? How does the Rotrex compare to the 19% pulley?

Jan,

This is interesting.

Why do you think the BMW automotive engineers chose to go the Eaton route over the Rotrex?

Not at all. I'm getting 5psi at 2900 and 10psi at 4000. 8000 RPM is not proposed it is a reality.
