holy crapola! we're suppose to get some pretty cold winds tonight... too.

tonight i almost slid into some SUV saturn's **** going 30mph in the snow...suddenly with no warning the arsehole stopped for no reason in the middle of the road. knowing my abs over-reacts on my FitS there was no way in hell i could stop in time even though i had about 4 car lengths.

so i turned the steering slightly to the right and yanked the e-brake for a nice sideways dorifuto counter steered and downshifted.

missed the saturn by about 3ft.

The MINI was kinda wet this morning and it was very cold today so the windows froze shut. They wouldn't open as I was exiting the parking structure. Had to open the door to swipe the card reader. The line of cars behind me were politely patient.

Getting colder now, though.

i had 1F and 1/2" of ice under 3" of snow. was about to start scraping when my scraper went SNAP!

so i pulled out my other scraper from my other car and SNAP! so... i decided to let the car defrost by itself... was late to work. stopped by the store to pickup some new scrapers... wth, not even -10F yet...

Parked in the garage, so no need for scraper....but the driveway (sloped) is still full of snow and SLIPPERY!

And I need an alignment after my encounter with the curb the other night. Boo. But if that's the worst of it then I guess it's okay!

Indeed.

I'm waiting for a basketball game to start. Girls basketball is away today, boys didn't have practice since they have a game later. Just me and the wrestlers, and they're just trying to sweat off weight for a tournament tomorrow.

Kinda quiet. I could use one of those cricket smilies right about now.

I DID, however, manage to be able to figure out how to play Facebook games over the firewall

I still have the plague and it's day 2 of 4 of So Cal "rain". So definitely nothing detailing-related today or for the rest of the weekend.

Drove in the parade today with kids' Tae Kwon Do group. Car started acting possessed halfway through - many lights blinking on and off, doors locking and unlocking themselves, gauge needles all swinging this way and that, engine running rough at idle.

Made it to the end of parade route, switched off and back on to see if that cleared things up... and it was graveyard dead. I had all lights on, stereo loud, driving at idle for almost an hour, electric fans running due to no airflow, etc.... I think it overwhelmed alternator output at idle and drained the probably already week battery (3+ year old OEM).

Finally got a jump from a nice police officer, stopped on the way past the AdvanceAuto and picked up an Optima Red Top 34R, went home and put it in. All seems OK now... whew...

Blimey- dang that sounds crazy , glad to hear your car's ok with the new batt.

Do you have a charger? Might want to charge the new battery overnight. I use a slow 2A charge rate.

On another note... I need to be careful what I wish for. Its raining now and very icy.

Charger-schmarger. Never needed a charger, still don't. Just drove it across down and back after I installed it. Voila - fully charged.

I know you're charger-happy... if my cars sat as long as your hobby cars do, maybe I would be to. But I actually drive my cars, instead.

Nono, it's not that simple...and why your battery died so soon. My car batteries outlive 6yrs since properly cared for.

I have a digital battery charger and I also have a digital battery manager for long term storage. 2 big differences and purpose.

I have a yellow top in the garage waiting to be installed in my 5+yr old G...but probably won't happen for another 2yrs.

Mine is 6+ years old too Now when I still lived in the Great White North, I used a "smart charger" when temps got below -25F, but more just to keep the battery warm overnight than to charge it.

So blimey, it's not the battery, it's you. my FitS's battery is probably going to die next year. It has a hard time cranking at 0F already... And its only 2yrs old. it's got a tiny battery.

My 09 FitS's battery started the car up like usual the same 0F morning.

Lotsie- I don't think most people have experienced -40C (-40F) on a regular basis as you.
