sounds good. i motored my Z this am (was a nice drive).

my wife gave me her memory foam wedge for the seat so im going to start using that on my Z tomorrow. should be real nice. she's making a custom black cover for me.

otherwise, went to ikea with the kids and wife and bought new shelves for the kids room. had a fun time putting the pos together. drawer dimensions were off by 2-3mm...wtf.

WHAT??!! You haven't experienced Ikea POSness before??!!

I'm sorry I let my Husban bring home 2 shelving units too, but I like the Island we got, it holds quite a bit of our Kitchen Gadgets, other than the Dog Beds I don't think we'll be purchasing any big items from them again!!

Ikea seems to have several different factories making their furniture kits. Some of their kits are actually pretty well made but some are like walmart quality (you know, the ones that say "proudly made in the USA" or something.

Seems like these low-end guys don't bother to measure their pieces before cutting.

You don't wanna hear about my issues with my Ikea drawers. Let's just say that it involved me running out to buy nails just so I could put the darn thing together without it falling apart when I tried to move it into my closet. Those little wooden pegs? Yeah they don't hold anything together. Never again will I buy something that requires that much assembly from Ikea.

Oh and to make this MINI-related, my MINI needs a bath. He's got pollen all over him. He'll probably get a bath on Thursday.

after some modification the ikea shelves are doing great. kids are putting all their stuff and crappage (to them it's not trash ) in there.

motored my Z this am and used the wedge on my seat. holycow, stuff is great. :D wife handed me the custom sewed black cloth cover for it too... matches my Z's interior perfectly.

on the way home from my drive, after getting some gas, i pull out of the station making a right hand turn into the far lane of the hwy since there was a pretty quick benz approaching. then some idiot ford driver a few yards down the road pulled out right in front of him and i caught the benz approaching impact in the corner of my eye so i swerved into oncoming traffic to give the benz some room to swerve out of the way. with its massive AMG brakes and the room i gave, the huge sedan was able to avoid impact but man was he pissed.

i was glad my car didnt get hit by some projectile from the potential impact. ended up with some dirt marks on my sidewall since i had to go over the low center divider. was quickly taken care during my QD session afterwards. im also happy that i didn't scrape anything on the bottom.

ken - WHEW - close call

I saw a BMW Z8 this AM... OMG what a beautiful car IMHO.. somebody near my house has one... gotta figure out where it lives... had never seen it before.

Last night changed the PCV valve, cabin air filter and fuel filter on Blimey.
Today swapped back to his Bobcats and winter tires.

OK, did a major two-bucket wash - he was NAS-TEE. Hydro'd. Nero'd trim. Also Nourished all leather (which needed it badly), 303'd all rubber seals, used 303 cleaner on the top, let it dry, and brushed on a heavy coat of 303 fabric protector (also needed badly). Drying in the garage now. Mostly ready for winter. Need to clay and Epic - maybe next weekend.

Also need to get an alignment - my front right tire has pretty much chewed through the inside shoulder the the past few thousand miles. RIP Nitto Neo Gens - they're all down to the wear bars. 15,000 miles - about the same mileage I've gotten on all my summer tires. Will need to buy something new in the spring.

I had an Ikea TV stand that was SO sturdy and easy to build. Then I had a desk that was a complete POS and was wobbly from day one. I gave that one away via craigstlist.

I was supposed to teach my brother how to polish his new black Yukon today, but we all wussed out and watched football instead.

blimey- Z8 or Z4? the new roadster? ive seen it too...man it looked REAL NICE in dark blue (my kinda color. ) hahaha. i might bet one after the Z but i think the logical step is a p-car after the z.

did some wrenching and cleaning on the blimey i see. yah i heard from autoxcooper that he's liking his cooper tires...might want to try that? my favorite for the MINI was the SportMaxx from dunlop. very grippy, very quiet, and comfy too (summer tires).

yah, i want to get something in the spring too... im still wanting that 49cc scooter to replace my old R53.

ML -yah, IKEA needs to tag their furniture for crap and non-crap versions. long time ago there was a store called workbench that sold some nice contemporary furniture....i have their dining table and chari (costed a fortune for me) but thing is awesome.

... but i also heard IKEA was originally a high-end furniture store way back when...(?)

anyone doing any detailing this weekend? (not me )

but i do plan on motoring my G and Z. still trying to decide which new HU to get for the G. starting next spring my older kid starts private school on saturdays so i need to motor him to the bus stop, drop him off and go on my merry way motoring the morning. my G is a perfect candidate since it has rear seats. my z... no so. he'll have to sit in the spare tire area.

Gotta wash the MINI and the MINIvan, and vac the MINI.

Installed brake ducts in a friend's MINI last night. Not for the timid... hacked out big sections of the radiator support frame. And had to modify the brackets to coexist with his BBK... but now I have another MINI mod skill in my repertoire. Ordered some parts to do my brake ducts soon, now that I've used somebody else's car as a guinea pig.

dang, that sounds like a pretty serious surgery.

it's good to use someone else's car as guinea pig. i use to dent my old leased civic to practice PDR. no one said a thing when i returned it so i guess i was pretty good. although my PDR instructor was like 'hey ken, you kinda went beyond your level over here, huh?' and teased.

no one tells me that i went beyond my level. i smacked him with my PDR
stick. man, that was like 5yrs ago.

so over the weekend, i motored my G on sat and Z on sun. both were
very enjoyable. SpeedShine'ed them both.

we're expecting some snow this week and so undecided whether to put
away my cars yet. i have a feeling this winter is going to be pretty mild
so im expecting to pull them out for a spin several times during the winter.
