Must be winter, quiet here
so the other day i was wiring up my 11yr old kenwood stereo in my
music room along with its CD player only to find that it's dead.
it'll play like 2min and then everything goes black.

so i pulled out my 20yr+ old Onkyo integrated amp and an old panasonic
DVD player to use to play music. man it sounds 100X better than the
kenwood or any of the newer systems i have. they knew how to make
amps back then.
so rich and warm. for speakers im running 2
15yr old ENERGY bookshelvs and a 10" ENERGY sub.
now if i can find a NAD CD player i'll be all set.
i had one long time
ago but thanks to british engineering (just like our MINI's) it died after
3-4yrs use.

lotsie-sounds like fun.
do you ever check out garrettewade? they have some nice wood working
tools too. i want to get the japanese saw set down the road. those
come in real handy when doing interior work when you need to cut
very flush inside door panels for speaker installs, etc.
rotary tools are nice but i prefer handtools.

One is a flush cut, no set on the teeth, the other is a general purpose saw.
Oh and I got a lifetime supply of these.

Ken, I had a NAD tape deck decades ago, it was a great machine. I need to get my older Sony 5 disk surround sound system up and running for my shop area. First I need new speakers for the new surround system.

it's been not too cold but the wind makes it feel 22F and it's going to
rain/freezing raing tonight so i passed on washing the dd's.
i re-torqued the FitSW's lugs since wife came back from running errands
for us.
i asked if she noticed any difference with the snow tires on
the dry roads and she said 'no.' which is a good thing.

dang a leap backwards to basic handtools yet a huge leap forward to
the future.

i have 5-6 more partitions to go, but i 'cracked' 3 of them so far.

ahh, sounds like a good day to stay inside.
today i think it's going to be in the mid 30F's but no washing or anything
for me. i haven't washed my FitS since end of Nov.
i think i'll start
washing it every other week at the touchless. such a waste of time and
$ at those touchless.
never gets 'clean.'

No I've been here since mid-December for the holidays. I go back home on Tuesday.
However, I had a flukey occurance while I was here. I just happened to be browsing the classifieds, and found what is my DREAM job in the Chicago north burbs. So I sent in a resume, thinking I'd never get an interview because it's too perfect and life just has not been going that way for me lately.
So of course, they called the next day, requesting an interview. I did that on Friday, and it went very very well, and I'm scheduled to meet the doctor I'd be working for tomorrow evening. If all goes well, I'm hoping to have an offer by the time I'm on my way home late Tuesday, otherwise by the end of the week. Then I'd have two weeks to get my stuff packed and get back.
Sort of a whirlwind, but I've been wanting to get out of California and this puts me closer to my family while still having a little distance, and the job is perfect! So I hope it all works out and I'll have an idea in the next 48 hours of what's going on.

I'm heading down towards Chicago in 3 hours or so. I want to avoid rush hour (I have a 5:30pm meeting with the doctor I'd be working for and his clinic manager) and kind of want to scope out the area a little.
Not driving a MINI today, driving my mom's big honking Escalade - which probably isn't too bad, because the driveway is a hockey rink!
