Sounds like a productive day, Mel. Don't you love the feeling of having a clean house when all that work is done ? Not to mention a functioning disposal.

Me... I did most of the housework yesterday. Today, I swept and mopped the hardwood floors in the kitchen and dining room. Did one load of laundry. And for the rest of the day, pretty much sat around watching football all day.

ML- sounds like a busy day for you. funny you mentioned your
disposal broke cause my buddy in LA's also broke and fixed his today.
must be a LA thing to fix garbage disposals today.

due to the cold weather outside i was getting some nasty condensation
on my windows inside the house. it's from the longer drapes we have and
trapped air between the drapes and glass, high humidity levels im running
on the central humidifier for the kids.

so i used my regular cotton towel and paper towels to wipe down and
Griot's WindowCleaner all the windows i could reach. the junk towels
reminded me of how spoiled we are with efficient MF towels.
regular towels and paper towels suck at drying windows.

so afterwards i set the drapes so that the windows can breath a little
better. should be no problem from here on. really need to watch out
for condensation on windows in our climate cause it can lead to serious
rotting/molds even on newer homes like ours if we're not careful.

PS - I just motored Blimey. It was awesome.

The car really sounds amazing now, with the RMW cam and header, and fixed one-ball.... I luv it.
How about an aluminum template and some liquid nitrogen?? A whack with the hammer and done..
Or the other extreme... fire.. Take a torch to it.

Uh, yeah.

Motored Blimey today. Awesome.

Cleaned two front windows of my house, inside and out, with Clarity and a DP MF glass cloth. I've been looking out them while working for the past couple of months and reflecting on how NASTY they were... but would never get off my azz and clean them. They look, uh, CLEAR now. Clarity and the DP cloth rocketh. Whole areas of the light blue cloth where DARK brown when I was done... it was like the windows had baked on dust grunge from a year on the outside... you could feel the cloth and the Clarity "cutting" it off the glass... really impressive stuff...

for the exterior glass, i used some car shampoo and the griot's 9pos
hoze nozzle and blasted it clean earlier this year. it worked pretty good
in "JET" mode.

but can't beat the cleanliness of a nice wipe down with windowcleaner
and DP glass MF towels.

so if i sold my MCS to buy some music gear and use the rest to buy a
new A4wgn, would that be crazy?

anyone have any recommendations as to preventing fog build up inside
the windows on our cars?

i ask cause when temps suddenly drops from above freezing to sub 28F,
i get ice on the INSIDE of the windshield on my FitS.

i think it's caused by the venting of warm air through the defrosters
after i shut off the engine. i suppose i can change the settings each
time, but sometimes i forget. it takes literally 5min for the engine to
warm up enough to defrost the inside winshield icing....

CAS Latency - lower is better, but it doesn't matter nearly as much these days as it did a few CPU generations ago.

I was told by my MA to turn OFF Auto mode on my MINI when I shut off the car to avoid getting condensation inside the car. Not sure there's anything else to do..

tu13- thanks for the info on the cas latency. this new
synth i want to get uses DIMM's and it says to use PC133 CSL 2/3,
512MB. it's for solid-state recording 54min 44.1kHz sampling 16bit
stereo.

yah, i think i need to change the vent settings when i park the
car in these conditions. usually it's fine, but when i have rain turn
freezing rain i just need to make sure i dont forget...

Ken, I presume you don't use recirculated air, which is a bad thing in the winter. Have you tried cracking open a window when you start the car, that will help, so would running the A/C, if a fIts has A/C. Ken, I guess you could turn down the heat setting just before you park the car.

Tu13es, how does turning off the Auto mode help? Just make sure it is not in recirc mode. We have not had an issue, and I hate most Auto-climate controls, but the 2nd gen MINI one is set-up very well IMO.

*shrug* that's just what my MA told me.

And yeah, my last car had an AWFUL auto-climate system. With the MINI I always just hit Auto and set a temp. I love it.

right i use the fresh mode in the winter time. since i have the visors
i actually drive in the cold weather with the window cracked open
to keep some moisture inside the car...the a/c + heat is just asking
for trouble for my throat. but that actually helps keep the
condensation/fogging to a minimum as it's basically a boosted fresh-air
mode.

LOL, unlike my MCS's british pos production engineering, my FitS does
have a/c.

Many years ago I used a product on my bathroom mirror and the inside of my '65 VW bus with good results. I looked in the garage but alas both the bottle of product as well as my bus are long gone. I believe it was made by the makers of Rain-X and was called something like Fog-Off or Fog-X.

Sorry I can't be more definitive on the name, but IT WORKED!

well, i decided to pass on the new synth and buy 2 used
expansion boards for the synth i have now. this will keep things
going for at least a few months.

im thinking with this poor economy those $4k synths are going to
come down in price.... my guess low $3k by early March.
things are like pc's now. just wait a little and the price will drop.

so my MCS is safe for now.

Save yourself some money and just use dish soap, does the same thing, it's why soap works. Just spread a very small amount on an applicator pad, and buff away. It works on eye glasses too, used to use it in my x-country ski days.

Where was that advise when I got into my bus each morning and had to use a towel to wipe the windows. Defrosters on the bus were fairly worthless.

I always used spit on the inside of my goggles swimming to keep them from fogging. That could draw some stares if used in your car.... "Mommy, that guy's really mad at his car. He's spitting on it!

also looking at electric piano's... roland FP7 might be the one.
would be mostly for wife and kids. each key plays its individual
sample...wow.

i dont want a piano in the house cause i know it will drive me nuts
when people are practicing. they can use headphones.

the key action is also very true to a real piano, if not better than
most piano's out there if that makes any sense. like if you get
a kawai, feels like crap (i know cause i had one). get a yamaha or
steinway it feels fantastic.

i should go hydro my keyboard and clarity the LCD.

Hmm.....dilemma.

It's 60F out today and raining all day. It was ~15F yesterday and will be back below freezing for the forseeable future. I really want to wax my car before the winter, which basically means I'll need to wash it first. Our hoses are already put away into the attic, which means I'd need to get them out and then drain them out after using it. Seems like kind of a pain. Is there some way that you guys would recommend that I could wash my car without a hose? I have buckets galore...

Thanks.
