i think OG will only understand this, but here's wat i was working on
the last few days...
so, 2 nights ago i fired up my iMAC (my dedicated music computer)
to run a few drills on the MIDI sequencer and noticed that it was running
OS9.2... and i had OSX CDR. so dummy me, without thinking, updated
to OSX. while doing so something happened to the USB MIDI driver, etc.
my software CubastVST5 would not run at all.
(this was 7yrs since
i last turned it on so my memory is kinda iffy as to why i didn't install OSX
in the first place).
so it took me then 1-2hrs to find all the software disks and CDR's to
reinstall OS9.2 and restart. software runs, computer detects my 128ch
MOTU MIDI interface but my sequence software does not want to
communicate to my interface.
so yesterday while shopping for the 1/2AA 3.6v battery, i searched
online for hours trying to figure out wat i did 7-8yrs ago to run the
software.
found the ticket... OMS.
but then
opcode systems went under(?) long time ago and so i had to search
quite a bit to find the v2.8.3. downloaded that, also downloaded
stuffit 7.2 or something real old so my iMAC can use it flawlessly.
installed, but still would not run. then i remembered how i had to
setup the MOTU interface to run on OMS, etc etc. and finally got it
to run late last night.
weee~
so my cars are hibernating in the garage...

No... but he wears this:

Just got my bumper clearbra and tint film for my side markers in the mail... looks like I'm going to do a bumperectomy either this weekend or over the holidays to install the bra inside my shop where it's warmer... might play with the tint some today if I feel like it... have a crappy cold and still need to do real work...

I guess it's winter here
, at least the locals call this crappy ice/sleet/snow/salt winter
. Back home north of the 49th, there is well over a foot of snow on the ground, temps are around -15F, that's winter
No precip today, but more freezing rain/rain tomorrow. Friday looks like it might get into the upper 40's, so if I get off work early enough, it will be MINI bath day.

Well... my will power held out for 90 minutes. Then I had to play with my tint.
Took me a grand total of 20 minutes to tint both side repeaters and my 4 arch reflectors (which were already the ebay smoked kind, but I wanted them darker). And I ordered a 12x24" piece of film, but they cut about 16" - and it only took a 3"x24" strip to do the whole thing... so I still have more tint than I bought to start with...
OMG... that was EASY. For the side repeaters, removed the vents and removed the repeaters from the vents, put the repeaters in my vise (gently, just to hold them upright), cleaned them with alcohol, heated them up just a little with the heat gun, cut a 3x5" piece of tint, peeled off the backing, and basically stretch-wrapped the light... trimmed with about 3-4mm of extra around the light and wrapped that around back. Easy Peasy.
For the side reflectors, cut a 1.5"x7.25" piece for each one, cleaned the reflector with alcohol, peeled off the backing, stuck down the bottom end of the film on the bottom edge of the reflector, and kinda squeegeed it on with my thumb from the bottom up. Trimmed around with an xacto blade and used a pointy dowel around the perimeter to work down the edges. Done. Just have to make sure you get it lined up right to cover the whole reflector since they're curvy.
Looks GOOD. I've never seen a blacked-out cool blue cabrio before... kinda cool. I'm gonna get a new scoop sometime, and will probably paint body color headlight rings when I paint the scoop... I think I'll like that better than the black rings, but I like black better than chrome... this week I do, anyway...

) so that's good news.Is there a preferred wiper fluid? I need to get some more.
Don't know about washer fluid but here's a good winter (and summer) tip. Clean your windshield with Prima Slick! Water, ice, slush, and dirt wash off MUCH easier. Helps stop streaking. Try it....you'll like it!
303 has washer fluid tablets that work great. Just drop one in a gallon of water and you get good cheep cleaning. I've had it freeze though at -20 deg F so if Prestone or Rain-X gives you lower protection you might want to use those. I think I go through 1500 gallons of fluid per vehicle per winter. I really wish the auto headlight wash could be disabled on the MINI. It uses a ton of fluid per wash.
Oh and even better then Slick is Epic on your glass.

I started to write a reply about the 303 tabs (which I love)... but nuked it because it's not really designed for cold weather. I wonder if you could mix up a batch with a little alcohol in it to lower the freezing temp, but still be more mild (and cheaper) than the store-bought fluids?
