My Compnay's Holiday Party was last night, held at the Portland Art Museum in the Mark Building. Beautiful Banquet Room, Full Bar, DJ, Hourdourvs, tasty Dinner, AND Dessert. Hubby said Chicken was a little dry, but the Salmon was perfect!! Had Fun, ended up leaving about 10ish.

Molly will be getting a long overdue detailing this weekend. GSOCW, Wheels polished, 303, BW, SIG, Nero, and BG.

Yep, honda generators are the way to go. Much quieter and lighter weight.

Blimey- what I usually do is place my washmitt on the windshield while I grab the dial on the nozzle to sw positions between soap and water. . Basicially soap the large section of the car, turn off, turn dial to water and then grab the washmitt to wash the car, then rinse the mitt every other panel.

We currently have no power and are running off our generator. It's a 5.5KW Craftsman (or maybe it's a Honda? I'm too lazy to go look) that we share between our house and our neighbors. Our stove is gas, but our heat is a pellet stove and forced hot water. So the generator gets us heat, hot water, keeps our fridges going, gives us some light, and maybe lets us run the TV and Wii. :P

I'm getting really tired of it, though. 400k houses in the state without power and I'm betting on at least a day or two before we get it back.

Heh - nice Lego set - don't let my son see it...

Lotsie - I couldn't make the 3x5 cards work (no gap between my handle and seal like some other people described) so I just masked very crudely and sprayed away - I'm going to xacto around the handle at the seal in the AM and peel off the excess. Another big plus of the PlastiDip... easy to peel off... I took lots of pics and will post if all is successful.

If not... it's really quick and easy to re-do and try a different approach...

Same here, only warmer, then tonight the poop is really going to hit the fan.

But it probably won't be too bad, as we now have a back-up generator

lotsie- that sounds good. if you dont have one already, might
be worth having a siphon pump (griots has them) so that you can
'borrow' gas from your car just in case you run out of your lawn mower
gas for your generator.

i hear people are lining up ridiculously long lines just to get a few
gallons of gas for their generators.

since i dont have a generator yet i think im going to charge up my deep
cycle for now.

Siphons don't work well (usually at all) on MINIs... The backflow valve in the filler neck keeps the siphon hose from reaching the fuel tank...

OK... here are results of the Plasti-Dip door handle experiment...

Pretty good! I'd call this a 5-foot mod... looks great from that distance... close-up, you can see that the edges where the handle meets the gasket aren't perfect... hard to cut this stuff cleanly with the xacto... but pretty darn good, and the texture and color are perfect - darker than the flash makes it appear in the photo here, matches the black plastic trim perfectly.
Stuff just peeled right off the paint with a little rubbing... no worries. We'll see how it holds up. I think you'd need to remove them to do it *perfectly*... but again, pretty good... normal folks won't notice any imperfections.

Translation: I'm not going for the OCDetailing hall of fame with this mod... but the local guys with think it's da bomb.

Thanks, Mark!

Ugh... Salt...

Ordered clearbra for my new bumper, and tint film for my side repeaters and arch reflectors last night...

Drove in the Christmas Parade here on Saturday with my kids' Tae Kwon Do group - lots of spectators were walking out into the street just to take pics of the car...
