It fit!
With space for me to drive

I used newspaper to wrap it up and put a nice ribbon. All done!

Happy Holidays everyone!
it wasn't too bad. I used some better wrapping paper and did easy rectangular boxes so it went by fast.
Woo~ nice! I need to work the whole day tomorrow but I'm done till 1/3.
Tomorrow is wrapping day, it is also bring the live tree in the house day, it has been living in it's hole the last 2 weeks, get it decorated, start getting food ready for the next day, get last minute house cleaning things done, wait for the sears guy to show up to fix the 3 week old microwave/vent, going to be a busy day.
John, that box is nothing, I brought home a 10 foot, live maple tree a couple of years ago in Poco. It's pushing 20 feet now
In the ground

.... hummm... not sure if these folks are aware they still have me in the cc while they're arguing back and forth via email...
this is like pairing your BT headset and it accidentally pairs with the conversation in the next car.

Hi kids! Christmas eve!
I've been offline for a few days - only I would CHOOSE to change jobs the week before Christmas. But it's all good.
Drove 540 miles Monday and Tuesday for work - on salty roads after the snow/ice down here over the weekend.... Blimey was nassssteee. Nice bath and hydro yesterday afternoon. All better.
For all you first gen folks out there... I'm LOVING my 2nd gen front brakes. Waaaaaaay better than the OEM 1st gen anemic crapola calipers. Makes it feel like you actually have real brakes on the car and not toy brakes. If you can find a set of take-offs on the cheap (mine were $150) I highly recommend them. I'm about $400 all in, including custom lines, CarboTech pads, G2 paint, turning the rotors and SuperBlue fluid. About 1/3 the cost of a BBK and just as good (or better) for most folks.
And low dust with the Bobcats (see - unlike ken I actually try to put something related to detailing in at least 20% of my posts in this thread).

Thanks for the congrats. It's a good thing. I'll certainly NEED more detailing - but will probably have less time for it. Alas.
Yep - second gen calipers and rotors bolt right on your first gen car. They're the same as the 1st gen JCW brakes, except no powder coat and no JCW logo. You DO need custom brake lines with the 1st gen car-side fitting and the 2nd gen caliper-side fitting - Grassroots Garage and Ireland both make them.

Wait wait, it depends. If you have a 7/2006 or later, then they bolt on direct. If not, then you need different lugs and I think a couple of conversion bolts.
I'm making the traditional Christmas Eve frozen pizza after being out in the slush all morning nailing down all the fixings for our family's Christmas, which is on Saturday. A REME friend has declared the rest of the day an official pajama day, so that's what I'm doing

Ah, OK. Thanks!
While the lugs are different on the later MINIs... the rotors should work fine... the holes in the new rotors (14mm) will be a bit larger than the size of your lug bolts and the holes in your hub (12mm) but that doesn't matter.
Conversion bolts? not sure about that - checking now...

I'm looking at the calipers on RealOEM now - 2002 R53 and late 2006 R53 - the parts are all the same for the front calipers and rotors - if you buy new rotors now for the old car, they spec the new rotors with the larger holes. So I'm not seeing where it makes a difference, Mel...
Blimey congrats on the new job!

Well I did mention long time ago that the R56 does beat the R53 as far as drivability. But I just liked the R53's looks.

ML- so you have frozen pizza asa tradition?
that's cool, actually. (Hydro)
I'm coming down with a stom-flu or something. Been feeling ill the last 3 days.
wife made some crab dinner for us but I might just have a few bites and just have some coffee or something. (Hydro).
Today played piano pretty much all morning and pm been napping cause I'm not feeling too good. (Hydro).
Happy holidays everybody! (Hydro... Just keeping the post in the detailing topic

Ah then they changed that. I had major issues a year or so ago!
Drew put a new TSW motor mount on Clara today - Merry Christmas to her (and to me for not having to put it on myself!)!

Ken, you must be really sick to not get your fill of crab. (I love crabs!)
Thanks for the doing the research on the brakes, Mel and Paul. There's that new MINI junk yard coming on line soon in CA---maybe I can score some brakes from there soon.
I hope you all get what you wished for tomorrow morning! Let's hear about it ! (Hydro?)

Will it give you more time for detailing? (...on topic...)
