Must be winter, quiet here
But in the electronic warfare of narrow light beams; installs are very touchy and unless there's proper placement, which only testing can confirm, you're all setup to get "pwned" With Blimey's V1 CB and M27, he's really only prone to rear laser, highly selective instant-on radar and VASCAR/pacing and even then unless the LEO is well hidden the CB will warn him of those 9/10 on a weekday.

Drive the speed limit and operator error can still add 15 to 20 mph to your speed, and even cook county has published that lidar readings are proven too inaccurate to uphold a citation, that doesn't even cover the plthora of illegally posted to low speed limits and improper speed drops.
People Still use CB radios ? Incredible.....
There is also a company now from whom you can purchase a down load for your cars GPS which has coordinates of known LE radar/laser locations and locatons of red light cameras.
Guy who started the company was victim to some red light camera companies who had been shortening the regulated 3.2 second yellow lens pause to red to just 2 seconds - to generate tickets for the municipality.....
Subscribing to this service provides free updates for a year and their site also allows for it's subscribers to post new known locations for future updates.....
I know, some here may say these devices make for bad drivers. Personally, I think any device that which makes drivers more aware of their driving habits, location and surroundings only makes us more careful and more alert and probably better drivers as a whole.
It's the distractions which cause the majority of crashes...

Yeah - Trapster. It's free. Everytime you get near a known police post it hollers "POLICE OFTEN HIDE HERE!" at you over and over, until you figure out how to shut it off. Then it just dings incessantly.
CH19 is still alive and well, it's rare for another 4 wheeler to be on but most trucks use them, and they can be a great asset in traffic backup avoidance, and when you have to work around the summer weekenders that means alot.

There's Trapster and pay per month services, I know several departments encourage officers to use Trapster when they're targeting an area because it helps accomplish that end goal of getting people to slow down.

I gonna meet up with a guy in VA who has a Lidar unit for testing...
But based on other installs I've seen - and comments from the experts on my install, I should be "invisible" from the front.
In theory, Blinder is gonna make a rear plate frame type head this year... if they do, I'll add that.
I need to build a better mount for my CB antennas. Usually now I just have a crappy short mag mount antenna INSIDE the boot, which of course has very short range. Range with my whip antennas is good... but the tow hook mount looks crappy. Gotta fab up a real mount.
V1 plus situational awareness for VASCAR and pacing and instant on has kept me ticket-free for 65,000 miles in the MINI. But they've just started using laser much more around here. Gotta keep up with the "good guys".

Don't hate on us automatics.
p.s. I've been MIA. But I'm now a newly licensed (and unemployed) Registered Nurse. The MINI's filthy but he'll get a bath sometime this week. He's overdue, his last real bath was in September!!!

Yeah I'm just shy of year 4 and 107 in the MINI without a citation; 4.5y and 120k without a speeding ticket. I'm torn between the Blinder an LI; but I'll have to decide and have one installed by the May warm up as the last 8 months have shown a significant increase in LIDAR roll out.
nono, it was not a hate post about automatics.
heck, im looking to get a AT car next time around for my dd purposes. it was just a "let's confirm how much motoring you REALLY luv, Blimey" question looking at his sig (and all this radar/laser jammer/blocker talk).
wow, congrats on getting the license!

one of them was bought last Fall, the other one like 2yrs ago?
Hmmmmmm...when I first got my MINI I was wondering if I could put a remote mounted CB under the seat....But I eventually gave up....decided it would be too big of a hassle....I had totaly given up and forgot that the Parcel shelf I installed is the PERFECT place for a CB. I had used one for years in a Honda Civic....and like radar detectors, they are a tool...used wisely they can increase safety, convenience, efficiency, and driver alertness!!
Now just to determine a good location for antenna placement....you guys tune any of the locations with a SWR meter? or just plop it down where it fits OK since you are usually listening?
I think it will be time for a new CB too...min is an old Radio Shack model from the early 90's....lol....was "tuned" by an FAA radio tech to maximize output....but no amp.
Any good recommendations for a good compact unit?

The automatic sounds as if it shifts like a bad manual driver - letting the clutch drag.
I know that's the principle that automatics operate on though, slipping clutch bands with planetary gears and whatnot.
But you seem to do quite well with it. I'd kill for a stomping ground like that there.

I've got an Antenex CB27NMO mount SWR tuned, I've got both an enternal one attaching through a jumper and I've got an SWR meter built into my Cobra 29 (installed behind the passenger seat) as well. The coax runs to an NMO mount that I've got on a hatch/lip mount on the boot. The base is near invisible in the CB world, it's an antenna commonly applied to 10m ham and public safety applications, and it's a nice thin whip with no added wind noise and is near invisible from the front of the car.
I've also got an NMO mount on the roof in place of the factory AM (not FM) antenna but I've got HAM stuff going through that right now.
I think I had the one-ball and RMW street header in that vid, plus JCW intake.
Yep. It sounds "meaner" than a MINI.
Sounds even better now with the RMW/Newman cam. Will sound even better in a few weeks with the Thumper head. Will *really* be a blue meanie then.

Drew - I'd love to see your antenna mounts. Though I'm probably gonna need something different on the cabrio. I have a SWR meter to get my stuff tuned up whenever I get properly motivated to rework my whip mount.
I usually run with no mic on the CB, just to listen to chatter - for the Cobra 19 I had to rig a plug as a "mic eliminator" because otherwise it won't work without a mic.
