They use some kind of liquid anti-ice stuff here. It is usually put down the day before snow. It dries onto the road, but not before getting every car wet with the stuff. Not sure what it is, but at least they aren't spraying chunks of rock salt.
Probably the same stuff that is used here. It's 80% salt brine, and 20% beet juice. Seems they use beet juice so the solution will stick to the road surface, allowing them to spray it before the snow comes, and it does not just run off.
But they also spread salt and sand on top when the roads accumulate snow/ice anyway. That's what's all over my car. Not the horrific mag chloride stuff.
The community we live in spreads rock salt, the brine stuff is used on the highways. Back home in Manitoba it was to cold for salt, so they just used gravel. Me, I like snow packed roads in the winter, like this;
Question about using the regular car wash in the winter. Will the high pressure water mess up vinyl bonnet stripes? I've heard that with cold weather high pressure water can take them off....

Keep the nozzle a foot away and it should be fine, I'd think.
So in the big sporting event today, I'm rooting for the team wearing the black and white striped jerseys. They look the toughest, as the don't wear helmets.
I *heard* 9pm to tomorrow all day long. So we might get like 90" in some areas.
Down and back today and all I saw snow wise was 1in Sheboygan on the way down. Guys on the HAM radio were saying 1-3" over night, 10-12'' by the time it's all said and done on Wed. morning. Enforcement wise the V1 paid for itself 2x over on the return trip alone.
