Must be winter, quiet here
Couldn't have picked a better day to send this.
As a trucker stops for a red light, a blonde catches up to him. She jumps
out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door. The trucker
lowers the window and she says, "Hi, my name is Sandy and you're losing
some of your load."
The trucker ignores her and proceeds down the street.
When the truck stops for another red light, the girl catches up again. She
jumps out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on the door. Again,
the trucker lowers the window. As if they've never spoken before, the blonde
says brightly, "Hi, my name is Sandy and you're losing some of your load!"
Shaking his head, the trucker ignores her again and continues down the
street. At the third red light, the same thing happens again. All out of
breath the blonde gets out of her car, runs up to his truck, and knocks on
the truck door. The trucker lowers the window. Again she says, "Hi, my name
is Sandy and you're losing some of your load!"
When the light turns green, the trucker revs up and races to the next light.
When he stops this time, he hurriedly gets out of the truck and runs back to
the blonde. He knocks on her window and as she lowers it,he says...
"Hi, my name is Kevin, it's winter in Missouri and I'm driving the SALT
TRUCK!"

Dusted and QD'd the car yesterday for a club drive - looked good. Parked it in the garage with the top down (which I commonly do). Today we had HUGE amounts of wind, and the garage was open, and now my garage is FULL of leaves and my car is covered with dust and the interior is completely covered with leaf dust... yuck... gotta vacuum...
Got motivated today and cut down my Brey-Krause fire extinguisher mount by a couple of inches and welded it back together, ground it down, polished it back up and reinstalled it - pulls the extinguisher right up to the front of the seat..... much better... I love having a welder... and a ton of air tools...

yah...the last time my garage door was open was probably about
a month ago. unless i HAVE to use the garage to do mods on
my cars, i dont open it during the winter.
i even take the trash out from the front door..

Our garage door usually stays open during the day... just never think of closing it... our garage has that "lived in" look - it's not a shrine... I only own daily drivers, so they're always dirty anyway... just means more work for me, which keeps me honest-er....
That's exactly what I said to my wife - hours later...

I don't know about NC, but in MD, the wind would have blown everything out of the garage that didn't weight at least the same as a good-sized cat. We even lost power for a while. And hey...
it's not a shrine
hey, my last name is not Chen!

scurves was asking when i was going to paint my floor after
seeing my latest pict of my MCS!
like my floors are that dirty to begin with.
i told him
floor enamel is not my concern right now.
im going to be getting new ramps next followed by a few more
facom 1/2 drives ive been wanting.

A's and E's are not interchangeable in IL ?
Oops.... sorry, CHAN, Ken. Yeah, why paint a floor that is so clean it already appears to be painted ? What a waste !! But Race Deck floor tiles... now you'd be talking !
When I build a garage, I plan on hot and cold running water, and a floor drain, for cold/bad weather washing
It will also double as a small woodworking shop, so I'll need good dust extraction, control.

yah, tiles would be my choice when the floor is filty dirty.

i might consider finishing the garage when im done with my MCS and G
and during that week or so when i dont have a car in there. but it'll
be a while before im done so not on my priority list.
I'm thinking of radiant heat in the floor. Not to expensive to run if you just use it to keep the space just above freezing, then use electric heaters when the space is in use. Oh, and insulate really well, which I'm good at seeing as how I lived with lots of arctic temps

wat this detailing shop did was install these thin plastic rails on both
sides of the his garage floor to drain the water out. all he did was get
his floor squeegee after the wash and pushed the water out. pretty
smart idea.
the plastic rails were about 1/4" tall 1" wide.
yah, IR heaters are great. i like them more than space heaters to tell
you the truth. the oil heaters aren't as effective as IR heaters.
the hot air type dries up the garage air too much where you catch enfluenza
and other bad things.
plus your tires start to crack when there's not
enough humidity. i try to keep at least 60%RH in there unless im temporarily
drying wax. i then run my dehumidifier and get it down to 50% range.

I would like hot water/brine running through lines laid down before the concrete floor is poured. The brine keeps things from freezing during power failures. A warm floor kept at around 45f in the St. Louis climate would not be to expensive to run. This project will also included a small addition to the kitchen, so part of the garage will have a shared wall with the warm house that the plumbing would be run in.
Another idea is to drill a couple of holes about 10"-12" wide 15' or so deep, lined with metal culverts under the structure to draw air from. Ground temps are a constant 54f, so this air offers both heat in the winter and cool air in the summer. Not a full blown heat pump, just air circulated by a small fan and vent system. Of course all this would be backed up with a generator, as both winter and summer storms can leave us without power for days on end here.
In the mean time, hot water wash buckets and lined starfish mitts

given that the temps have become a litte toasty for me, 10F,
i think im going to work on my car tonight.
1. fix the aim on the headlight. i have a little too much rake for the current headlight aim due to aftermarket bits i put on.
2. install my new sunvisor.
should take me 10min tops for both.
11min and i freeze to death.

crap, started snowing.
oh well. guess i'll do the aim sometime
this week. i have to remove a cover held on by small clips which
i know i'll loose the clips with gloves on.
the sunvisor is installed though.

Nice job, looks great.

Just swept all the leaves out of the un-shrine. Well, more "raked" than "swept"... pile looked about the same size as you get out of a small lawn in the fall...
But you get the idea...
Oh, and I Prima Nourished my Redline brake and shift boots - which I just noticed were getting VERY dry... yikes... I don't think I had put anything on them since I got them 6 months ago... have done the seats a few times since then, but never remembered to do the boots... will probably take a few treatments over the next few days to get them feeling supple again... if that doesn't work I'll break out the Leatherique... which I bought months ago to restore my nasty neglected minivan seats but haven't gotten around to doing it yet...
