Was It You?¿?¿?
Do you know if they're going to start up the 'Brat nights' again? Should be about time!
(It would make for a cool club get-together too!)

It's located in the Del Ray section of Alexandria, VA. Not too far from Arlington or Old Town Alexandria.
They do homemade Wisconsin style frozen custard (vanilla, chocolate, and a flavor of the day), homemade sorbet, baked treats and goodies, and even doggy treats!
Liz, the owner, is unbelievable in the kitchen! Everything I've ever had there, and I really mean everything, was fantastic! A couple times when living in Alexandria, I would go there for custard, then some sorbet for dessert!
And in the fall/winter months, they do a 'Brat night' once a month where she makes up some bratwurst and homemade German potato salad, and (the few times I've been there anyway) there's a local accordian player belting out some Polkas. It's an entertaining weekday night!
Oh, and she also 'imports' soda from a Wisconsin brewery by the name of Sprecher's. Awesome root beer and real ginger ale!!!!

Mmmmm..... pistachio last night. So good.
You know I've been in Del Ray for over 3 years now, and I still haven't made it to Brat Night
. You're right, she should be starting those up pretty soon. I've got to get there this year.
edit - oh, and Paul, you should try the Sprecher's Puma Kola, too. One of the few colas anymore that still uses the natural extract from the Kola bean.

Monday 9/25/2007 around 5:40PM LY/LY MCS (R53) 'DORMAUS' (previously sited by DCMMers in 2006) Southbound George Washington Parkway, after the Roosevelt Bridge underpass as I let him in from the merge lane. Wave given, wave return.
Good day to you sir.
Good day to you sir.
Spotted two MINIs at lunch today...
DS/B MCS on Sunset Hills/Fairfax County Parkway by Target/Chick-fil-a. Wave given, wave received!
PS/B MCS IN the Chick-fil-a parking lot. No wave, but you were in the car with a co-worker, so you probably didn't want him to think you were weird.

Distinctive set of headlights, fogs and running lights right behind me in my rear view mirror this a.m. on 495/95 South at Rt1. Gave a wink on my rear fog as a wave.

Silver/B MC on 197 at Racetrack - Sorry for the slight wave, awkward angle but I caught your's when you turned
PW/B MCS at 197 just before 450 heading north, Smiling driver gave a wave, hope you caught mine I was a bit focused up ahead.
Heaven's above Grommit - We're MINI geeks !
Cheers - Mike

I was talking with an associate through my job who has a MCC in Orange named "Cindy" who says that around L.A. it's a
instead of the 'ole Queen Elizabeth
Funny thing, we were driving back to the hotel with some other co-workers after dinner and she was describing the MINI Cult and how we name our cars, have clubs and do the wave/thumbs up thing. The other folks had no clue this kind of thing existed.......I think they thought we were a bit wierd, we are but it really has nothing to do with the car
It may be that is why some owners don't see things the same as devotees such as ourselves do. The MINI USA deal might help the un-educated
I suppose dealers look on clubs as good in one way like promoting the fun side of the car, but bad when it comes to known trouble issues.
As for me, I confess, I have never loved a car to the degree such as Wensleydale, I just beam with pride when I look at her. Though small and cute, there really is something artistic in those lines
Like I said "Heaven's above Grommit........"
Cheers,
Mike

10/2:
Was followed by H1SMINI getting onto 495 yesterday morning.
A Red R56 MC followed me until Beulah Rd on 123
Spotted TIKIHUT parked @ the Giant's next to my place right after that.
Today: Got a wave back from a Blue MCS heading towards Langley near the 267 exit on 123 as I was heading home.

Ravana and good day to you sir.
Damn you are good, you picked me up going the opposite direction across the grass median, in the far lane with a car in front of me and just to my left behind. I be the IB/W MCS giving you a wave back.
Which begs the question: "What was the longest distance, most convoluted answer to a wave you've received?" No ... virtual answers in the forum don't count, it's gotta be in situ.
Mine? Other than Ravana (which was all him, him, him, I did nothing to contribute to the event except to acknowledge) I'd have to say it was Southbound George Washington parkway, waved to a CR/W MCS some years ago who was stuck in bumper-to-bumper Northbound traffic. I was in one of those rare sections with all green grass in the median and a hill-across-valley-to-hill views for 1/4 mile. I was in the clear with no traffic around. I felt so sorry for the man, I just shoved my arm out the window and waved, waved, waved. As I approached he gave me the WTF look and then comes the sudden realization and he thrusts the arm out in reply with a smile.
I know mine is unconfirmed and ancient, but it makes a good story. Anyone else?

Sweet!! It was actually purely luck that I saw you, waved and kept looking long enough to see you wave back!
My week of waves continues...got a wave back from a CR MC on MacArthur Blvd around 8:40 this morning. I can't remember the one from Tyson's this morning though.
I can honestly say in the past 30k miles I have never had so many waves!

Route 340 heading to Charles Town along the river right at the crazy traffic light intersection where VA sneaks up on you. There was a black mini "in distress"... my get well soon thoughts go out to you. Since the police were involved and emotions looked heated I just minded my business and kept going. But I felt for you...
I saw Santa!!!! and he drives a PS/PS MINI!!!!!!
Saw a gentleman with a long white beard driving across Randolph Road from 29. Didnt get a wave though...must be too busy getting ready for the holidays!
