I spied with my little eyes...a pepper white MC with a black roof at the FSK Mall in Frederick on Friday. I was about to tag it when I saw that it had a DCMM sticker.

Today when I was driving back from Rockville on 270, I got a honk and a wave from a guy in a blue Toyota Sienna. I think I recognized the driver from the Backroads and Battlefields drive, but I'm not totally certain.

I was in Lancaster on Friday and my mini was at MoT all day long. If I don't have a dentist appointment this Friday, I'd be up for a wave-by over lunch. I'm very close to the GW parkway between Old Town and Mt. Vernon.

You were heading S on I-95 near the PA/MD line, just after a toll plaza you were sliming/compressing a tire. I was heading northbound and showed you the 'Emergency - Please Send Help' motoring card. Sorry for not stopping (I really would have!) but I was already cutting it close for a concert in Philly.

Followed a red MCS with a black roof from rt. 110 in Rosslyn out I-66 to Vienna. Had a DCMM sticker and waved at me as he passed me, but I don't know if he saw me wave back.

If this was Saturday (8/25) around 9:30-ish am, it was probably me. Yay, I've finally been spotted!

But, if it wasn't Saturday morning, then it likely wasn't me. In which case, I'll nonetheless keep waving when I see fellow motorers. (And, of course, hoping that someone posts here that they saw me!)

I got a wave this morning from a blue MCS convertible on the Dulles Toll Road.

(FYI: My employee Will was in court yesterday for a toll road speeding violation. He said EVERY ONE of the 70+ people present were there for toll road speeding tickets. So...watch out!)

Dan... was he actually zapped and pulled over for the ticket, or was it mailed to him based upon his Smart Tag / EZ-Pass? What were the circumstances?

I personally believe that if they use the Smart Tag system for speed enforcement, many people will just go back to paying cash. I would, in spite of the increased time factory.

speed camera tickets are unconstitutional in VA. You have a right to face your accuser....ask the judge to put the speed camera on the stand so you can confront it.

Where did Dan or I say anything about cameras?

The Smart Tag / EZ-Pass system very easily allows them to track the average speed driving between toll booths. Whether they choose to use that information as the basis for speeding is the curious question I was trying to raise.

It was on 8/25 around that time so it probably was you, I posted it on here because I saw a DCMM sticker so I knew it wasn't just a random MINI waving. I was in an AB Cooper with an MTTS and DCMM sticker. Thanks for waving!

I'm sure I might see you around town again. I noticed you live in Del Ray, I live just up the road at Mt. Vernon and S. Glebe.

ohh.....sorry....thought you were coming at this from another angle.....the cameras on the tollbooths or something else setup in between....radar/camera/Smart Tag. There are unmanned mobile emissions 'sniffers' setup that automatically ding you if you are running catless...figured it was the same thing.

my point was unmanned methods of speed control aren't enforceable in VA unless something changed recently.

They are enforceable, they just aren't moving violations. The state recently re-authorized using red-light cameras, which can also give you a citation for speeding. It basically assigns a fine to the owner of the car, avoiding the issue of accusing an individual. No points, just a penalty.

As to the toll-road speed thing, of just measuring your average speed between known toll-booth distances, I'm sure there is a reason this isn't used in the U.S., but as far as I know it's not. It is in Japan, I believe.

CR/W Cooper with flag on the side mirror, on 198 west bound @ 2.40pm. I was on the other side. I saw the wave but before I could wave back, it's too late already.
I will be quicker next time, I promise.
