Was It You?¿?¿?
Man, LOTS of MINI's out and about today!!!
Spotted a yellow MINI driving down Braddock RD, near campus on the way to class. Spotted a Blue MINI at the light at University Mall on the way to campus 30 seconds later. AND.....There was a turquoise/ light green (not to good at MINI colors yet) Cooper leaving campus directly in front of me this evening.

I saw 4 on my way home this morning. I hope to see some more out in the sunshine tonight on my way in to work!

CR/W, #86 on door, North Carolina plates, vanity but I couldn't make them out completely, southbound on 95 just south of Baltimore today around 4:30. Tried to get your attention but you exited at Caton Ave.
I saw a Classic Mini today at 13th and I Sts NW. I would've waved, but I was walking. I did point and yell "look at the Mini!"
I tagged a dark silver/blue convertible with Vermont plates that was parked on Belmont Rd, between Columbia and 18th.

Not a Mini encounter, but something a little out of the ordinary this morning - a Camaro pulled up next to me at a stop light and motioned me to roll my window down. He said he loved my car and asked if I'd had any problems with it. I got the impression he's looking for something that gets a little better gas mileage!
Maybe this deserves another thread, but I too have noticed more inquiries in the last 6 months or so from non-Mini owners. Both as you described window down in traffic or from neighbors. I guess it explains the proliferation of Mini owners who aren't as "enthusiastic" about the Mini that seek it out as a viable commuting vehicle ... hence the proliferation of faraway looks and lack of waves from Mini's on the road. Just a thought to try to stick this response back to the "Was It You" thread.
I have classified MINI owners in 3 categories:
1) and of course the BEST....US- the enthusiasts or MINIaddics, MINIholics, MINIacs etc
2) the JAMers- Just A MINI owners- these are the people with the far off look who haven't a clue you passed them frantically waving
3) the MINI snob!
These are the people who look over at you, see you waving frantically and all you get to see is an interesting finger, or some nose hairs

Personally, I LOVE #1, can tolerate #2 as just plain stupid, and tailgate #3

Then there are the wonderful ones whom I happen to see, actually know and wave frantically, blinking lights, honking horns, and getting txt messages of "HEY WAS THAT YOU?!"
- Those are DCMMers!

Our Tour de France (no drug enhanced performance reference inferred) mountain stage classificiation: Hors Catégorie (Above Category) for all that realize a wave is a wave is a wave. Life is too short NOT to wave or wave back. (or moon back as you are able)
Sorry, couldn't resist the high ground.
Sorry, couldn't resist the high ground.
Quick story....
I'm at my brother's house and a friend's wife walks out to the driveway and sees Wensleydale. She ask "What kind of car is that ?"
I'm like......

Doesn't everyone know what a MINI is ?........
So I say "It's a MINI"
and she says......wait for it......."A mini what?"

So I say...............UUuuummmm........Cooper ?
No response..........maybe this image says it all ?

Needless to say.....I was kind of surprised.....they are everywhere.....nothing looks like one......don't you think.....
well, maybe that explains the 2's and 3's
Cheers,
Mike

I am certainly am a #1. I will wave, honk, etc to get another Mini's attention. I also ride a Kawasaki and the quick wave is part of the culture. I get a kick out of waving to a HD rider and only about 1/2 respond. Come one we all enjoy the same passion, be it Mini's or motorcycle. Start Waving.

I thought the biker wave was a mandatory, no matter what horse you're on....I see the wave go on all the time between the crotch rockets and the Harley crew....surprised to hear that its not always the case......
Well...there is a certain hierarchy involved. Some Harley riders, for instance, won't wave at anything other than another Harley.
That's because they can't see anyone else wave due to the vibrations. The synchronized vibrations of the Harleys allow them to see each other.
