Saturday Lunch

Looking at the schedule, I see there's not anything set up for lunch on Saturday. Would anybody be interested in going to the Nantahala Village for lunch? Below is a link for the restaurant.

Hay Cab,
So glad Son-of-Cab has arrived safely. Have you told him he's got his own nickname with us Freebies?! And you need to tell him that we're so proud that he did the right thing and got a room. What a smart boy you have there Cab!
I just hope my son has that much common sense when he grows up. He does the laundry, so we're one step in the right direction, LOL...

Gem, you feelin any better? How 'bout hubby?

OMG Hal, I LOVE the way you think! Nice place that. I think I would love that restaurant.
I'm game! Hopefully you won't be sick of me by the time the weekend's over! I think I'm doing a few things you & the Mrs. are doing too.

Seriously, if anyone is interested in joining X and me on a rafting expedition, let me know
Thanks for the lunch suggestion. I'm bringing clothes that are stretchy with elastic waists. I may have to walk home to Nashville. Yeeeeeeesh!!!

Not in my direct vicinity, but evidently this building (work) and some of the suburbs of Richmond had power outtages. NOBODY just turns the #$% heat on around here!! We just had ice and snow - as long as I'm in my toasty MINI, it's beautiful. But it was 16 degrees when hubband made me get up and drive him to go get his car at the shop. We were on a work delay, so I COULD have slept in, if I weren't such a good wife.

How are you doing today, sika?

Long story.. has to be shared.

We moved my son downstairs to a bigger bedroom in the basement a few months ago. The place makes a perfect teenager den, and we weren't using the space anymore. The only problem we had, is that we have a storage room downstairs that contains our liquor cabinet, among other things that we didn't want him to have access to. We put a lock on the door, but then a few weeks later, the son swore he heard someone trying to get into the house, so we decided to put a motion alarm downstairs to keep him safe and to give an added layer of protection against any teenage goofiness that might happen with the beer. He sleeps better, we sleep better. We all thought this was a great solution.

The problem with motion alarms in the house, is that I have a very large dog. He's big enough to set it off, so we tried to place it in such a way that he could go under it, but any potential thieves could not.

This week... my dog figured out a cute trick.

I am very groggy in the mornings, so I don't even really notice the poor guy asking me to put him out until after I've had my coffee.

He's decided that I'm taking too long to put him out, and he had to take action. His solution is to run downstairs and jump up in front of the alarm. This sets it off, which has me running down the stairs because it's a screaming alarm which will make your ears ring if you don't turn it off quick enough. After I run down and shut it off, he prances around and leads me to the back door, where I will grumble and put him outside so he can go read his newspaper.

I only realized that this had become a habit this morning.

I'm gonna have to find another anti-theft solution...

that is a great story! and yes they will figure out these things very quickly to get your attention!!
When we first brought out pup home, trying to potty train her was very difficult and easy once I came to her terms... what i mean by this, is she was about 10-12 weeks old, and knew "outside" was what she needed to do. She would go to the door and in exactly 3 seconds (if i wasn't watching) she would go right there!!! ugh.
I was getting very frustrated, and didn't know what to do, so one day i hung a bell on the door **** and guess what she was trained instantly, or was I??
we have a bell on the back door and did the same with the bedroom door (no more crate) , since then she has never had an accident in the house (unless she is really really sick).
To this day, she rings the bell when she wants to go out. The problem with this is when we have company and she isn't getting attention she is constantly ringing the bell!!!

Sounds like He has you trained too Random!! this just proves Labs are very smart dogs! Way to go Reily

They are smart dogs... but the screaming alarm thing is killing me LOL!

I'm sure he knows it. He's gotten very cantankerous in his old age and seems to enjoy going out of his way to do things that are both hilarious... and obnoxious....

Wait...

Come to think of it... he's always done that LOL!
