Boy! That's been the hot topic at work. Some really weird goings on there.

One of the guys I work with has spent a lot of time in Thailand since his wife is Thai. His says there about every kink available in Bangkok.

I just had another flash of deep thought. My Sir Cedric is 1st gen R53. Your Mints is 2nd gen R56. The latch mechanism on my MINI is in the front corners of the bonnet. Your bonnet latch is in the middle of the front. There's a remote possibility you can access the latch mechanism through the grill, but be careful not to scratch the paint job. Maybe put a thick towel or some other type of padding (felt maybe) around the top and bottom of your coat hanger.

Here's a diagram of your latch and bonnet.

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...81&hg=41&fg=35

Wish I could be more help.
Oh, Hal, you're a peach for your efforts. Technically the latch is on the edge of my bonnet stripe (not really in the middle.) But i lifted the car and wormed my way under -- this freaks out hubband, by the way. I checked out every cable I could reach and even stuck a flashlight everywhere the latch might be -- based on the pic of YOUR car, Hal...I figured it would most likely have the same latch plate (generation regardless.) But I couldn't see one. So I'll just toodle on up to the dealership one day next week (argh! Harder than it sounds) and get it fixed. THEN I will take pics of exactly what it looks like from above and below! Just for my own peace of mind. *sigh.*

OH, you BETCHA there's every single kink! But what floored me was the oh-so-casual way they described it. So...how does tying a rope between one's "nether regions" and one's throat = suicide again????

Since they found him in closet, I'm thinking the cord was going over the closet rod then around his neck. Something to do with auto erotica. He probably would strangle himself to the edge of blacking out to intensify the pinnacle of his act.

I'm trying to be as clinical about this as possible without being offensive. When I went through the police academy we studied cases where people inadvertently killed themselves while trying to get sexual gratification. There's some real doozies out there walking among us.

YUP! Some reeeeal doozies. But HE was kind of a surprise - wasn't expecting that one. But again, the article was so blase' about it being suicide when everything clearly pointed to "accident"...it was just odd. Okay, the whole darn thing was odd!

I like the title,,, just_me...

On to another subject- yes I am ADD, I know!! Tonight is when Dateline does a special report on that poor woman that died in a diving mishap in Australia. The one where the husband did it? It's on at 10 pm and I can't wait to watch it. I'll be dammed if I would ever,,,EVER leave anyone who was struggling alone on the ocean floor while I floated off for help... just doesn't make sense...and I hazard the guess that the hubby really did do it... ugh, what a story.
Cab- I'm watching it! He's SOOOOOO GUILTY!!! I'm only half way through the show... but I just know it. Probably I wouldn't make a good juror. And WTF? The dude is removing the flowers from the grave with his bolt cutters? OHHHHHH... life insurance. LIFE INSURANCE!!! I was highly suspicious.

Loookey what I found!

Anyway, 'Cab, you mentioned the shady husband...which reminded me - did you guys hear about David Carradine!?!?!
Ohhhh... I'm blushing guys. I was trying to take a couple of myself but I have short arms. So I came out and told the husband to take a few for me. I made him turn the camera monitor toward me so that I could see what it looked like... then I would say, "OK" and he would snap the picture. Then he just started snapping like crazy and I couldn't stop laughing. Then I was crying... it was very funny.

So why did I take them? Ummmm... for my new Bangkok website!

I LOVE this one! I wondered how they were made.

Hey Hal, I know who to ask if I need help with my car! I have learned how to unstick a bonnet just by reading your posts.

Oh Gem you are too sweet. No one has ever called me "stunning" before. I'm always "cute"... "with a good personality" girl. And "weird" has been thrown around a time or two as well.

What's funny is that I was talking with UhOh about Facebook. There are lots of people from my class on there and I am not on there yet. I was thinking that quite a few of them looked old and I was thinking I must be in denial about it. After all... my 20 year reunion is coming up AND I am just 2 years and change short of turning 40.

Yes I heard and read about it!! I guess he got himself "into one heck of a bind,,,," kind of sad, eh? the press really screwed this one up!!! I think I will stick with the more "safe" ways of gratification!!!!

x uh oh x,
Don't know exactly how far this is from you, but a week from this Monday if you get a chance try looking to the northeast for a launch from Wallops Island Launch Facility. Details at the website listed below.

http://www.space-travel.com/reports/...ystem_999.html

That's one of the few things I miss from living in Florida. Used to watch the initial launch on TV, then go outside and watch the shuttle from our back yard.

That's funny Hal! I'm right there with ya! It's funny... I was never really popular... no homecoming queen or anything. Of course that's why I know how to do all kinds of stuff! I had to develop my personality because I didn't have the "looks"... or the "right looks" anyway. I was smarter than most of the people in my classes and I had to dumb it down sometimes so that I could fit in. Weird huh? This FaceBook thing's got me thinking back about all kinds of stuff. *sigh*

I think it's a good thing I drive a cool car. I fit somewhere.

So... not only do you miss Cuban food but you miss the Shuttle too? Sounds to me like someone's getting homesick Hal! I would miss lots of stuff if I had to move from here. But I doubt I'll leave here anyway... I really love it.

And about the Cuban food- let's figure that we'll make definite plans as the time gets closer. Sound good? I'm pretty sure that I'll be here for Thanksgiving time. The husband likes to go doorbusting/shopping the day after Thanksgiving though. But I think we can make it work.

You're near the Smokies, right? I'm pretty sure we'll be planning a leaf peeping road trip up there in late October... so we could probably meet up sometime then too. I don't know when yet though... depends on weather and stuff.

Not really homesick, just miss a few things I took for granted. I don't miss all the traffic and congestion. You've probably driven up US 19 in Pinellas county. When I got my drivers license back in '72, once you got past Sunset Point road in Clearwater, there was nothing but pine trees and palmettos on either side of the highway until you reached the flashing traffic light at Tarpon Springs.

The wife moved there in '67 and myself in '69. We both lived in Largo, which at that time had a population of about 12,000. Currently I believe the population is pushing 100,000. Just too many people in too small of an area.

After that really bad hurricane season in 2004 convinced us to get out of Dodge. I was friends at the time with the emergency services director for Pinellas county. I saw him shortly after Hurricane Charley. I asked him what was the evacuation plan for the county. He stated "If you can't get out three days ahead of impact, you might as well just hunker down and hope for the best.". Trying to get out of that county during an emergency is impossible.

Sorry for the rant.

Ola, you are as cute as a button! Which, of course, makes the whole "secret agent in a MINI" thing even funnier!
