Morning all,
Hal- keep us informed on the cookoff!! Please, you should do it though. Not only would it be fun but if this is your first one, it could be a learning experience too!!!
TN- that is some food allergies!!! Blue Cheese!!! i love blue cheese... Salads and fish are ok to stick with though!
I personally think it is not the meat itself but the chemicals they inject into the meat for a "longer shelf life". But I'm afraid to try any kind of organic meats just in case. Usually within about 20 minutes i can tell if i have ingested anything with pork, beef byproducts in it. Not a pretty sight (skipping details for those eating breakfast).

Gotta run for an appointment... later!!!

where is OLA htese days???

Gooood morning all!!
Hey, you guys,, those are some serious food allergies.

I have a question for Miniola- maybe I have missed this in earlier posts but you have mentioned a couple times that you had some sort of illness. And when you were writing your mini crime buster story you mentioned going to one of the top notch medical institutions..... are you okay? Are you fighting something or have you fought some sort of medical battle in the past?
And if I am being too nosey you can just tell me... I will understand...

And from recent posts I know you are suffering from a bad cup of coffee allergy. and I think we can safely say that you are okay with chocolate....

(ewwww.. that was bad, so sorry, couldn't resist! Something about apples and temptation seem to stick in my mind on this first day of Lent)

*insert evil rubbing of hands together* 'Ola and I: We've been busy converting others to the dark side! Don't know about 'Ola, but I was tracking some old threads that Apple either started or participated, which have now had some people asking for updates. So...we've been informing them of our off-topic-ish-ness, and that's how we've been getting converts!!! YAY!

Totally understand the meat allergy. My hubby is allergic to pork as well, he's built up enough tolerance that he can eat cured pork products, like ham and pepperoni, but he can't do things like pork chops.

I also understand about the getting sick from something and never being able to eat it again... Thus why I cannot stomach tequila... long story, but I've got time.

Friend of mine did about a dozen shots or so of tequila at a party. The other party goers were too drunk to take care of her, and I had never seen anyone so drunk they couldn't speak before, so I got worried about her. I ended up having to carry her into the bathroom to see if I could get her sober enough to tell me that she was okay.

Once I got her there, I set her down in the tub and I bent down to sponge her face, just as she leaned over the bath tub and got violently ill.

The smell of tequila mixed with... you know... hit me in the face and now the smell of tequila makes me feel the urge to get ill.

Luckily... after she hurled, she was fine, but she had the worst hangover in the history of mankind the next morning.

As for me, it took a decade for me to figure out that the smell I remember is associated with a specific brand of tequila and I finally found one I can drink, which is great because the locally owned restaurants up here make these amazing huckleberry margaritas with sauza blanco and wow... they are SOOO good!

Actually, I don't think the meat allergy is necessarily all that rare... I have a friend who did the whole wrestler-"diet" thing -- expelling all water weight, no matter what, then bulking up on carbs, etc. You know, the huge yo-yo-yo-yo-YO diets. Well, now that he's in his 50s, he's developed severe allergies to all meats (to includes poisson) and most dairy stuff. His diet consists of most bland veggies and very little else. Poor guy - almost made me cry when we all went out to eat! (Went for a work thing - didn't know about his problem!)

Wow there is only about 2 other people i have meet in my life time to tell me they have a pork allergy also. I'm the same with beef. very very rare indeed.

You hubby can eat ham and pepperoni? wow, I'm thinking I couldn't do pepperoni at all because after many months and months of tests, my body can't break down the fat in these foods and since pepperoni is very greasy, I think i'll stick to a salad!
If we go out and I forget to ask if it was made with meat (e.i. pasta sauce) within 20 minutes I'm violently ill.

SIKA- OMG allergic to chocolate, what would i do??????

Hey gem,, I was thinking the very same thing, that we need to set up another luncheon date. You are not going to believe this but since I was sick and missed so much work that I have no free time around lunch time until Friday March 27th ( also I will be away visiting my family in Colorado for a week in March)

So, unless you want to shoot for a Saturday or Sunday we have a big wait on our hands. And I am hoping that you will be busy with a new job by March 27th!! If it can work, I have Sunday March 8th free???

Okay guys back to our banter. TNmm...... laughing here,, you are a bad bad chicken!! But a darned funny chicken!!

Luckily, I out grew the allergy......cause I love chocolate too! My dad became allergic to peanuts in his late 60's. Before that he didn't have any allergies.

I am revamping my life thoughts these days... will talk more about it after hubby and i discuss more... interesting possibalities. No Job talk for a while. and yes i did hear from the 2 "new employers" and yes I am still unemployed. The first one (Chinese Co.) emailed me and said they decided on someone else, deep down inside it was a relief to me. I don't think i could be happy there. The second (Lawyers,) said they had employees issues and called me and said they can not afford me now, at least the paralegal got a raise at my expense.

Life goes on and again that is all that will be said on my part until i figured out what "plan B" is....

Cab, March 8th might work. Should we invite the guys since it is a sunday? or just a girls outing? Holly and her guy too? so many questions..... help me, i'm made too many decissions lately!!!

wow, that is something that he would become allergic at that age.
I would be really upset if it was chocolate or coffee, everything else i could live without.

amazing, but i guess if you do those kinds of diets, something is bound to happen sooner or later.

I have never had any kind of habits as far as eating is concerned, i would eat anything, it wasn't until my early 20's that I had my first "attack" of any food allergy. If anything it should have been from ice cream and being lactose intollerant, because i loveeeeeeeeeeeee ice cream!
I can however live on veggie and fruits, I crave that food and i never crave meat. I do eat seafood!
