Free Classic Mini...
OK, I'll bite.
PM me where you are located & your contact info.
What year, motor displacement, & how rusty is it?
Pictures would be helpful also.
Hey there, Hi there, Ho there!! Hi Freebs! I received a Happy Birthday greeting from NAM and that of course led to my coming here to see what's up and if anyone still stops by.
so, as you all probably know, I don't have Sloopy any longer. So I kindof fell off the routine, But had to peek in and say hi.
Gosh, did we have some good times, here or what!!???

Update #2
Since my Freebie Family helped me get through my Heart Surgery, can you believe it has been 2yrs., I thought I would update you on my check up yesterday with my Cardiologist. My BP and Blood Work looked good, I just need to get back to excercising again and try and lose some weight. Hubby and I are seeing a Nutritionist on Monday, so hopefully we will get serious about what we are eating, he's the Chef in the Family and likes Red Meat way to much IMO!!
I L@VE my Freebie Family!!

I L@VE my Freebie Family!!

My Freebie Family ROCKS!!

BTW...Molly is doing fantastic, she did have to have the Thermostat replaced last month, but I got a Check Engine Light and was able to figure out what it was, no other major issues.

Woo Hoo! Family reunion! time to get out the mosh pit <giggle> I have no idea where all my smilies went to!
Cabbie- sorry to hear Sloopy went away, but would love to hear what you replaced her with.
RJ- WHAT did y'all do? Just the south beach diet? I try to stick with a Mediterranean type diet, but with the kiddos it just never works- they seem to think that being a kid entitles them to things like PB&J's, grilled cheese, and smoked salmon(?)- yeah- weird kids. Oh- favorite veg? Steamed kale. Go figure.
Congrats on the weight loss!
HI FREEBIES!!! I've missed y'all in these dark and stormy halls. FB is fun, but this was a lot more fun!
OK, I have to go off and deal with terrorist kitty... who's just discovered that if she paws the door, I will let her out. She is so proud of herself for training a human!

Yay. Glad to see we're making a comeback in here. Seems like this thread died off once FB became the popular place to 'hang out'.
RJ - awesome to hear that the diet is working. So far, my diet is a "see food and eat it" diet...not exactly good for trying to lose weight.
TN - I think you've experienced more winter weather than I have. I can only think of one time that I actually used my atv for plowing snow this winter. Been very rainy over here...

. got the driving lights finally put on, wiring hopefully soon...
I've visted this thread a few times and am as entertained by it as most of you. Something struck me today about it that I feel compelled to share with all of you. Since the days of BBSs (pre-Internet) men have made a big deal of "women" that sign up for forums, etc. In some ways, "Sandy/Apple/GypsyWhatever" was created by the leg humping men on forums that pay so much attention to these "women". Who knows if any of the women are real, and really why should any of us care? I've always taken an active "woman" on a forum with a HUGE grain of salt and never paid them any attention. I'm not on the Internet to make friends, and have never met one person that I've become familiar with on a forum. I come here for information and entertainment.
People like Sandy get addicted to the attention, because their real lives are pathetic, lonely, and sad. In all honesty and in some ways it's not their fault. The lesson to learn is don't feed into it. Foster relationships in your real life and not the Internet.
Just my two cents.

I too come here for information and entertainment, BUT I have actually made friends here and have met them face to face. Some more than once. TNMiniMama, x uhoh x, Misty, to name just a few. Some real good friendships have developed due to this thread.

So far I've only met TNMiniMama...but that's because she just so happened to be on an Alaskan cruise and one of the ports of call was my hometown. I'd love the opportunity to meet more of my forum friends in person...I think it would be a blast. It is just extremely cost prohibitive being that I'm in such a remote part of the US.
I've been active since the BBS days as well, and even then I enjoyed the opportunities I had to meet some of the folks I only knew in the cyber sense. Some of my best friendships started off from the cyber world.
I understand that there are people out there who aren't "real" and may be misrepresenting who they say they are but there aren't enough of them (on the parts of the web that I surf) to stop me from participating in these forums and in a meaningful and productive way. It's informational and entertaining all at the same time.

Agreed! I've met and made good friends off of NAM, and I'm a chick -- one that at one point was pretty active on NAM. But I don't know if I'd been so active if it were any other type of car forum.
About ten years ago I was really active on a running forum and met several of the members in person--people who became friends, mailed each other cards and gifts and talked on the phone.
I remember the first time I told my mom I was driving to Philly to have lunch with an internet friend. She almost had a heart attack, sure I was going to be the next dead body on CNN.
It was an awesome lunch, and I still remember that friend with fondness. And we're both chicks. (older chicks, but, still.)
We've even had internet friends *gasp* stay in our home overnight.
Our dogs liked them, so we were safe.

RJ, that's funny... I was involved with a BBS back in the mid-1980's, and they heard that my then boyfriend and I were going to be in the SF area for a visit, and suddenly a huge party was created at the home of this particular BBS founder. About 200 people showed up- and we all kept saying how interesting that here we were meeting each other for the first time, but felt like we'd known each other for forever. The funny part is, one of the people I met there (the co-founder of that BBS) turned up on a Yahoo Group about 12 years ago, altho I didn't realize who she was at them time. But we naturally gravitated towards each other on that group- and then figured it out. That same yahoo group has provided me with one of my best friends, who I go visit every summer (and she visits me)- turns out her husband wrote a book that saved my life. As for NAM... I got to meet a lot of peeps at the Dragon, shared a cabin with Uh Oh for my first Dragon. Hal & I are in the same car club in TN. I travel a lot, and have met others for coffee, dinner, a whole group of Philly Peeps showed up a few summers ago at a restaurant when I was in town (without my MINI... of course!)- from here that included Cabby and Gemmy. And as AK says, last summer I was on a cruise that stopped at his town, and AK is a WONDERFUL tour guide. We had a ton of fun (well, until his dog found the dirty diaper... but that's another story... EWWWW... giggle).
From another thread on here, one of the guys couldn't make it to the Dragon one year, so I found a picture of him, blew it up and made a lifesize stand up on foam core- which I buckled into my front seat and took to the Dragon. With the help of all the other MINI drivers, we proceeded to have 5 days of "Flat Mike" doing all sorts of things... which we photographed and slowly leaked to NAM and FaceBook... When he realized what was going on- well, it was hysterical! He's come and stayed with me on his way to the Dragon, and then we stayed with him and his wife on our way out west a couple of summers ago. He's now in the Seattle area. And RJ, if my train had stopped, I would have come visit you this past summer... at least for a cup of coffee!
Oh, uh, hmm... I guess that makes me a stalker??? EEEEEEKKKKKK!
<that all said, I do worry about the anonymity of the internet, and can see why Chili4's mom would have thought she'd end up on the evening news, which is why meetings are public places like coffee shops and restaurants, with a group the first time (and sometimes even the second and third)>

TNM it's really a modified South Beach Diet, we've just cut out the Carbs. Hubby's Blood Sugars are now at a normal level 5.2 A1c and he's off his Meds.!! Just for that reason alone it has been worth it!!
AKIM you are way more active than we are/were, we even bought Backpacks after we got home from our AZ Vacation, but I had an accident at the Grand Canyon (no NOT that, I'm still here) and had injured both my ankles so no hiking for us 'til this coming Spring, if my ankles will hold up, Dr. says I need surgery on my left one.
Glad to see you back!!
I know TNIM!!
