Actually, unless you have an affinity for precise and detail-oriented (OK, sometimes ****-retentive) manual labor...well, you may not get it. It's soothing to do manual labor jobs where you can see an end result (like a sparkly car!) and you can zone and get into the groove of detailing it, without having to think too much. I think too much as it is, so it helps...I guess that's why I'm also happy when bashing walls during deliberate DE-CONSTRUCTION (not really demolition) and doing all the little jobs fixing the house. I personally like being very detail-oriented when I do jobs. Some folks call it perfectionistic, but I disagree: I like to pay attention to the details of the job, although I can work with "good enough." I believe in the phrase, "Perfect is the enemy of good enough."

Hal, on the other hand...well, he's got OCMD worse than I do.
Thanks a bunch; I love you too.

I just have my moments. Right now Sir Cedric is all buggy splattered and the wheels are black with brake dust. Gotta get it washed by next weekend as that is when I'm putting the stripes on. Hopefully I won't frak those up too badly; gets expensive when you mess up the materials.

Man oh man!! Even as I was signing onto our beloved thread I could hear crickets !! What's everyone doin?? How everyone??
I know I am behind but Gem- I loved your comment about sounding like attorneys...!
I am in a slump- of course it IS Friday, right?
Oh! I pulled into a parking spot and had a very nice woman come over to inspect my Sloopy,,,, it still is fun to have people ocome over and ask about her. And I was pulling into a parking garage a few weeks ago and had a guy walk up and say that she was the nicest one he's seen yet! Gotta love being a MINI owner!!

Happy Friday!

Hey Cab- remember when we had "cricket farts"? (worse than just plain crickets )... I think that's where we are now. Wonder what page that was on?!?

Hey I just bought one of those aftermarket wind blockers (called windscreen on NAM but I know how some people freak out since the windshield is called windscreen) from Ev- Brownflyer... anyway... WOW what a difference! I am no longer getting beamed in the right side of my head with wind and the little air that floats around just ever so slightly fluffs my little wispies around to give that "lived in" look to my hair. Can't wait to use this on my road trip!! I'll get to enjoy more travel time with the top down!

Pics of cricket farts? I think TNMM knows where they are. She calls them something nicer though.

Which... BTW where IS TNMM? Did she float away? TNMM where ARE YOU?

RJ- fixed for how many years? Did they reduce your principal at all? How did the appraisal work? Were they able to appraise the house for what you owe on it? That's one of the biggest problems for refi's around here... appraisals don't come back to support the refi. We have a LIBOR loan which adjusts every 6 months (up OR down). Right now I think we are at 3.5%. Our equity line is 2.25% (prime minus something).

For 30yrs. w/CU. Appraisals are now done by an Appraisal Management Co. ($450 OoP). We just locked in today, so appraisal won't happen for a couple weeks. We figure we have at least $100K in equity, we owe $160K. Assessor Value $269,300. Our Pmt will drop $155/mo. not much but every little bit helps. Our only bills are our house and the Molly Car!!

Yeah, we probably wouldn't be able to get the house to appraise out since they appraisers use foreclosure/short sale numbers for comps. TAXing authorities don't have to use those numbers... but appraisers do. A numbers game for sure. That's one of the reasons we haven't paid for any appraisals... money down the drain.

Glad you get to reduce your payment!

TNMM is out in California picking up a pick-up truck. Her and a friend are driving it back from there to Tennessee over the next week to ten days. She'll be away from the Internet but might post progress on her Face Book Wall.

I must say it's lookin' pretty sad here people! What's WORSE than cricket farts?!?

Today I took my first Art & Healing Class at Ringling Art School. It was called "Touch Drawing". I'd love to say it was compelling and I had some spiritual revelation but... ... the MINI gives me WAY MORE!!! I have another class that starts on Tuesday and runs for 12 weeks and then one more weekend class that starts in December sometime. Ringling School of Art And Design is well known in Sarasota and around the country. I can't afford the $100k to attend and get a 4 year degree but I can take a certificate class for 2-4 years and it will help with the OT background I have. Plus... I haven't done "art" since I was in high school.

It's really beautiful.

So I have my disco ball set up in here and playing ABBA as loud as possible. Chris is watching a movie (or trying to...) . I feel all silly!!

I worked out for 2hr 13min... I should be tired... but I am not.

Hia Freebs! I'm tired. I managed to scrape and prep five windows, ...although I can't really count FIVE - two were kinda small, and were together the size of one of the big ones. I took a picture of the area where I'm working (sans ladder), with hubband standing on the ground for perspective - I'm working on the second story windows mostly...

I

I feel like a high-wire act!

Thanks Gem...we think so too, it beats our 6% anyday!! Our ultimate goal is to refi for a 15yr. in 4yrs, would like to have done that now, but our payment would have been to high.

Hubby's been fightting the Security Deamons on our computers today. He had installed a new security program on my computer yesterday, gave me fits today, so he had to un-install it and re-install the old security program. I made Dinner, ok well I threw some stuff together and called it Dinner, I'm good at that!! Get a Baking Pan (square), cut up some potatoes (Yukon Gold are our favorites), put potatoes in pan, thaw some chicken (pieces/Fingers) put on top of potatoes, pour Italian Dressing (as much or as little as you want) over all of this, then sprinkle some Parmesan Cheese on top.
Bake 400 for 1hr. Call it Dinner!!

I'm pretty sure it is. Every time i go up the ladder, I mentally review the Army "Parachute Landing Falls" (or PLF) -- how to fall down from a great height without breaking anything. There's no way I'm going to do this kind of work on the THIRD story windows with just a ladder... definitely need scaffolding. Need to save my poor back and calves!
