Free Classic Mini...
Yeah Ola, it is... We (my friend Lisa and I) have, uh, emasculated quite a few guys along the road... We've even had some long haul truck drivers give us the thumbs up and tell us how much they LOVE my truck (it's nice that we can see them almost eye to eye as we pass them!)
<sigh>

Oh Dr. Eye Candy is gonna be hurtin'!!!

I've been at it again. Got home early from work to receive the scaffolding guys (manual, not hydraulic like I wanted)...one of the men delivering the scaffold was a VERY old gentleman (tough and strong! but very old - like 80s?) They got there before I could change, so I was still in my "go to work clothes", and the old gent wanted to trade war stories.
He was in the Korean war. The other guy was in his 40s/50s, and seemed to just tolerate the old gent -- I realize if you hear warstories over and over again you become inurred to them, but c'mon...he wasn't talking nonsense! You have to respect those kind of guys. Anyway...poor guy was twinkling when he left, just for having re-lived it a bit with me.
SO...I must be nuts. I put together two sets of the 5' scaffolding sections by myself before hubband got home. Once he got home (keep in mind he gets vertigo) he helped me put the rest of it together - but we only got up to 30', not the full 40'. We'll have to do that tomorrow when we can really tie it down to ...SOMEthing!!! We took off the old siding on the 2nd and 3rd floors, and FINALLY i uncover something COOL on the house! Both of these rooms we're working on used to be sunrooms/porches that SOMEone along the line (ok, in the '50s) covered up and made part of the house. Kind of. They didn't use any insulation, so these rooms are FREEZING and drafty in the winter, and i'm sure leaks AC in the summer. Well, on the 3rd story, I discovered they left the original Craftsman bannisters!! I don't want to cover them back up now.
Gotta figure out a way to enclose the room still, without covering those pretty bannisters!

Anyway...i'm BEAT. And tomorrow is the start of a VERY long weekend...

*um, did I spell that right??* too lazy to look it up, hey it isn't even 8 am yet!!
Good luck with your scaffolding and BE CAREFUL!!!!
Nice find there X! And Cabby, love that ref to Cirque du Soleil! I have this mental image of X flying thru the air with a putty knife and other instruments of destruction while some incredible rhythmic music comes booming out from the house!

Good job though! You're a hard workin' woman!
Today I am cleaning out stuff and trying to do some organizing. I am freeing myself from madness.
I was thinking about the Cirque du Soleil... I am seeing her sweeping around in those big sheet hammock thingies... a touch of paint HERE a little scraping THERE...
Gem and Cab- sounds like you guys are going to have fun on your trip!
Cirque du Soleil - oh you guys are funny!! But not really far off. The only thing I HAVEN'T resorted to yet is the ropes and hammock thing. I'm actually pretty good at rapelling, and I'd probably get SO much more done that way! But I'm already freakin' the hubband out a lot. Poor guy was up on the scaffold stuffing insulation, and was hanging on for dear life. He got really pale when he was up there helping the carpenter and I - the two of us were bouncing all over the scaffold trying to get the best leverage. Hubband was hanging for dear life still. I think we've figured out a way to leave the cool bannisters exposed, while still sealing off the room. It's SO not easy, but I think it'll look good.
I'm sooooo tired. I totally deserved my shower tonight. I was so filthy, it was disgusting... And tomorrow is yet another day! Hopefully we'll get farther along so my pictures actually look different than the ones I already posted.
Wow! Last thing you need is hubby gettin' all pale and passing out or something! You've got enough of a job watching out for yourself! So are you guys wearing any safety harnesses or anything? I'm guessing... no.
Hiya Freebies!! Hubby and I have had a FUN day of shopping and NOT buying anything!!
We are hunting for place settings with 10" or smaller Dinner Plates. WE have to cut down on Hubby's (mine too) caloric intake, Hubby is Diabetic, so for 5 years now we've gone about things the wrong way, well Hubby has FINALLy seen the LIGHT!! After he visited his Dr. becuase his Blook Sugar was to high. He won't listen to me, I've told him we should be doing a Vegan Diet, but he's a carnivour after all!!
So if anyone has any ideas about where to look I'd be much appreciative.
Left the house at 9am this morning, had to pick up Carpet Samples. Hubby's come over to the Dark Side and likes the one "I" picked out!!
It will make the White Trim and Doors (still yet to have installed), and Dark Furniture POP!! My only concern is how it is going to make the Living Room Fireplace look, it will contrast ALOT, but I think we'll be fine, I HOPE!! *insert praying smiley*
Then off to hunt for Dinnerware. Restaurant Supplies were closed, hit Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, and Sur La Table. I got tired of looking, 'cause once you've seen 1 White Plate and you go to L@@K at MORE you forget what you liked in the begging and IT ALL BECOMES A BIG BLURR!!
Or you like some of the pieces, but NOT all!!
I need HELP!!

RJ,
I would look online first for dinner plates- you can print out what you like and compare, then once you have a few you like, go to those stores. Makes the whole process a tad easier, less gas, less blur...
Congrats on getting hubby to realize that he's got to change his eating habits. Diabetes runs in my family (Dad's side) and my husband is mostly vegetarian. I find it very difficult to eat at home, as I'm cooking for the Veggie's in the fam and then am too worn out to cook for me. Due to personal tastes, my husband & children tend toward hi-carb diets (which are also hi on the glycemic index), which is exactly what I should NOT eat. There are some good books out there (with meal plans and recipes) for people trying to change their eating habits... my doc recommended Low Glycemic Index for Dummies (we then had a discussion about exactly what he thought of me!).
With your doctor's blessing, and recommendations, sometimes going to a nutritionist is a GREAT way to start off a change like this. The other thing is to keep a food journal- both of you write down EXACTLY what you eat & drink, including amounts... At the end of the day, analyze your food choices, break down the carbs (incl dietary sugars), proteins, fats, etc, and you can start seeing where changes can be made... It also works as a deterrent for popping that mint in your mouth after dinner...
Best of luck-
V

RJ- I would agree with the online search. I was thinking IKEA might have what you're looking for.
TNMM- Isn't a high carb/high glycemic diet BAD for diabetics?
I would have guessed that something like Atkins would be good for people trying to balance blood sugar.
Cab- Those are some nice little stick figures.

I need ideas for my MINI pumpkin this year.
These are from last year:
