Close enough!

Too bad you didn't make it to the drive yesterday. We had four MINIs show and really had a good time. Only had a bit of rain once or twice during the whole day, but not heavy at all.

SHIVER ME TIMBERS!!!!

hi.

Hope all is well with everyone. Went for a long drive over to West Palm/Pompano Beach area last Tuesday and picked up my "mods" for my MINI. I bought all painted PW trim. Started to do the install yesterday and had a few issues. Didn't get the right clips from the shop for the sills and I think I'm missing some other stuff. Dismantling the trim was fairly easy although most of the clips in the front are stuck in place and need to be removed. I also replaced the rear bumper (which has PDC and rear fog connections) because that was scratched. (Someone had previously closed the garage door on it ... no names... but it wasn't me.) Anyway, I had searched all over the forums to find really good DIY for doing all the trim and I couldn't really find what I needed. I'm thinking of taking to a local body shop to finish the job. The husband decided to horn in on my project and he ended up denting a piece and scratching up a couple of others so I have to order another piece. He is NOT careful. Yes... I am not talking to him.

Hia Freebs. I spent the whole afternoon doing acrobat-like moves on a 20' ladder scraping and glazing two of the old windows. Gotta wait for the putty (and caulk) to dry before I can paint...it's not MUCH of a victory, but it IS a victory!! And I hurt. I have permanent ladder-rung impressions on my shins.

Wow UhOh that is some feat!! 20'...No Thank you!! We have 15' Ceilings in the Foyer and Living Room and I've been up on our Little Giant Ladder Painting, but that's about all I care to do. A nice warm bath and a Hot Toti will make you forget how sore you are.

(((HUGS))) for a job WELL done!!

THanks sweetie! I really wish I had had the 20' little giant - I only had the vertical ladder. Made the acrobatics much harder because I had to hold on or not adjust my feet much. I LOVE my little giant! Except that the one I have is broken, and won't collapse down completely. It's only 15' high and wouldn't reach. I'm about to go spend big bucks to get one if I have 78 more windows to do!!!! oooooo....hot toti....i LIKE that idea!

Wow- Ola... I think the husband goes to the dog house! X, I think you qualify as not only accomplishing some feat, but 20 FEET... RJ, nice ladder you sound like you have... HAL...I am sorry I didn't make it. Especially since I was doing the backstroke here. In fact, it was so rainy, I took my daughter to go mail some packages and it rained so hard, we ended up pulling over and spending an hour at Best Buy just so I didn't have to drive in the stuff.
Now... I thought I'd share with y'all what I've done to a friend, who's become addicted to the "games" in Facebook. In this case, it's some Castle Game and she's pestered the heck out of me (& everyone else) with requests to help her thrash a dragon...So, my response:
I am from SPACDRAG: the Society to Prevent Abuse & Cruelty to Dragons. We ask that you cease and desist any and all further whacking or we may be forced to impose the punishment of a thousand lashes with a wet noodle. We are also recommending that you MOVE your keep, if you want to keep your keep and keep your keep's keepsakes safe. We suggest ... you send out a keep seeker and maybe a keepsake safe keeper seeker. If your keepsake safe keeper seeker, who I believe is named Pete, is waylaid by a dragon, golden or otherwise, it is advised that Pete your Keep's keepsake safe keeper seeker announce his position to said dragon. Dragons are known for repeating positions and we at SPACDRAG feel that said dragon, golden or otherwise, will become helplessly tongue tied trying to repeat "Pete the Keep's keepsake safe keeper seeker" and all will be well.
If you do not follow these instructions, you will be turned into a newt!
<then there was a comment by a friend who said "For Pete's Sake!">
Shorty, Lawdy! It's not for Pete's Sake... It's Pete, the Keep's keepsake safe keeper SEEKER. Now if you want the SAFE KEEPER, that's Pete, the Keep's keepsake safe keeper seeker's brother, Marvin. Marvin's kept mostly in safe keeping, which might be why he's the safe keeper, as he got into some bad fairy dust when he was in college. So while he's excellent with combinations and spells to keep safe the contents of the Keep's keepsake safe, he's been known to sometimes ignore protocol and permit some of the unsavory characters in the Keep's *really safe* keepsake safe to wander around... there was an ugly incident with a Sock Troll... oh the carnage!
Now, back to Pete, the Keep's keepsake safe keeper seeker...
Our dear Pete, the Keep's keepsake safe keeper seeker, has been seeking a new Keep to keep safe the Keep's keepsake safe. He's looked high and low, met a few dragons (who are now tongue tied and blathering idiots) and rescued a few virgins (who we're not sure needed rescuing and we're really not sure if they're still virgins!). Pete, the Keep's keepsake safe keeper seeker, seems to have found a new Keep in a Cliff(tm) overlooking the sea. This Keep in a Cliff(tm) is special as it has a patented Keep in a Cliff(tm) rotational KiaC(tm) Light. Because of this special Kiac(tm) rotational Light, the whole set up is known as a Keep in a Cliff(tm) (with rotational Kiac(tm) light) Lighthouse. This particular Keep in a Cliff(tm) (with rotational Kiac(tm) light) Lighthouse, is a bit messy, so Pete, the Keep's keepsake safe keeper seeker (with or without optional virgins), is going to call his Sister Laeticia. Laeticia owns...

Laeticia's Keep in a Cliff(tm) (with rotational Kiac(tm) light) Lighthouse Kleening and Keeping Kompany, which is actually run by illegal aliens- the green kind with bulging eyes- who make very good Keep Kleeners... even if they do do the odd experiment on sleeping humanoids. But at least they don't do their doodoo in a Keep as that would require the services of Horatio the illegal alien Keep Kleener doodoo Eliminator... (it's a $#!tty job, but someone has to doodoo it).
TO BE CONTINUED...

TNMM-How in the hell do you keep all your keeps and keepsakes and safes and seekers organized? I was trying to follow all of it... really I was... but it was kind of hard while laughing! UHOH- good call on the caffeine (or perhaps some other special herb?)... a fancy "tea"? That story was seriously insane... but I loved it!

UHOH- you've really been hard at work (and shopping for cool stuff)... how do you do it all? When are you going to start packing and getting ready to move. Aren't you overwhelmed yet? BTW- the flowers you sent are still beautiful. <3 And I love your table! I would like to have some tables with the "barley twist" legs.

I think TN has been taking NoDoz followed with a bottle of Jolt Soda to wash it down.

I did that ONCE on a long road trip from Florida to Ohio. I was literally vibrating down the highway with my knuckles glowing white from the death grip I had on the steering wheel.

Just got my stripes in today. Now I got to figure out how to put them on.

UHOH - You did your stripes and someone else's recently. I remember you mentioning a squeegee. What kind and where did you get yours? I also noticed that there isn't a paper or plastic film covering over the stripes. Or am I missing something? How do you keep from scratching the stripes while you squeegee them?

Sorry to be a PITA, but I want to do these right the first time.

Hal, you got the reflective stripes, right? They don't come with the top cover sheet. If it makes you feel better (and I know it will with your chronic OCD sweetie!) Use a strong paper towel, or a regular piece of paper, as top cover when you squeege. As for what kind of squeege - I got one in the mail w/ an OEM set of stripes. I suggest something thicker than a snow/rain/water squeege - something that's a little more rounded, like maybe the edge of a thick piece of cardboard? Or...maybe a DVD case? Something that won't get nicked - the nicks in the water squeege is what tended to make the (very few) scratch marks. Again, start in the center of the stripe and work your way to the edge slowly. Use mid-to-lots of soapy water, and don't use a pin on any "bubbles" until a few DAYS after you put 'em on. (That'll be the hardest part for you!) The bubbles are caused by excess water - the water dries and will go away.

....And of course take lots of pics before during and after!!!

I wonder if one of those squeegees one uses to apply Bondo would work? They have them at Home Depot or Lowe's.
