Congrats! My neighborhood association banned those...

Maybe I'll just call brinks or ADT. I saw a guy in a track suit running around my neighbor's yard well after 11 at night last week. Security lights would have scared the guy off a heck of a lot better than the cops showing up half an hour later to check it out...
You mean like the exterior security lights that come on when they detect motion?

We got one for the house, and we have to go DOWN a floor to let the dogs out...DEAR HUBBAND kept forgetting to turn it off before going downstairs (it's not a short - SPRINTABLE - trip, either.) I didn't hear the initial warning "chirp chirp chirp" the first few times, and HOOOOOLLEEEEEE CRRRRRAAPP!!!!! Seriously, I thought I was going to have a heart attack and my eardrums would burst simultanieously. What about one of those travel alarms?? The ones where you can attach a trip wire or something - something that the dog wouldn't be able to set off, but a person would?
They haven't blanked it out yet!!
Poor RG. Don't call ADT unless you're ready for an alarm that will literally STOP YOUR HEART. If you're bleary enough to forget to let the poor boy out, you might be bleary enough to forget to turn off the alarm.

I hadn't thought of a travel alarm... that might work... but the last time we had ADT out, they said that they could arrange motion alarms so that my dog wouldn't set them off... the only reason I haven't done so, is because I didn't really believe they could do it. LOL!
Car?! Car?! there's supposed to be a car?
Crud, I must be in the wrong thread... I thought this thread was about miniature horses!
(no car, it was a bad apple that spoilt the whole bunch)

yeah I questioned hubby too, thinking what is that going to go if someone came in!
He said "don't you think they won't turn and run if lights started to go on in hte house"... hum gotta admit - makes sense.
So there are motion sensor all over the house. I'm not sure how they re set up, but he controls them all by the computer and also has the ligths come on at a certain time and turns off at a certain time. We also have the same with motion cameras, say pointing at our hottub, or back yard.
Then if that isn't enough the entire house is set up on a remote control to "override" the normal settings, so we can turn every light on in hte house should we need to...
sorry this this turning out to be long but, funny story... about 3 am we were fast asleep and i heard a mans voice in the family room down stairs, i freaked out and kept nudging the hubby wispering get up, get up... bearly eyes open, he reaches over to the night stand,
(where did he get a gun)
.He pulls out the remote and turns on every light in the house, it looked like a landing strip! I yelled why did you do that? he said do you think they are gone now??? hum
turned out it was an electronic game that was in sleep mode puppy kicked it!
but this seems to be the best without annoying us or our neighbors, as a matter of fact no one know we have it except for the warning sticker on the windows. oh and I think it also call his cell phone in emergencies not positive on that one though... for fire and such...
oh and good morning peeps....
I went out last night and had a great time.
Took a whole bunch of meds to get me through the night with no coughing and no fever.... yeah i know i shouldn't have gone, but i really wanted to ....
do today i have no voice and felling ok... so my point to the night out was a cold won't kill you, just silence you!!! hubby is loving this!!!

Same deal here. The access to the back yard is downstairs, through the basement. I could, I suppose go down the deck, but in the snow, that's treacherous. We just don't use the deck until it thaws.

Yes but IT'S FOR INSIDE THE HOUSE.

DON"T BELIEVE THEM!!! IT"S NOT TRUE!! We can't set our alarm with the motion sensors because my 15lb cats will set it off, no matter how "desensitized" it is or how much weight it's set for. LIARS!!! (this was the source of one of my heart attacks, by the way. DIRTY ROTTEN LIARS!!!)
(I have a 20 pounder, he sounds like one of the kids coming down the stairs)
Actually, the most annoying one isn't really a thumper. He's more of a YOWLER. I swear he's saying hello...but it sounds like, "HEEROW? HEERRROWW???" At the top of his lungs. But he DOES like to sit on the stairs to see out the window - which is where the motion detector is set (in case anybody tried the suicide mission of entering by the 3rd floor.)
A tad chilled (ok, lots chilled), schleeeeepy, and overtasked as usual, but in fairly good humor anyway. You?

aaahhhh shucks!!! thanks.
