Official 2nd Annual Dragon Brew Swap Thread
I've been to 2 Gordon Biersch's and I was impressed both times. Their beer is quite good (I prefer the marzen) and their food really kicks butt.

In my defense, it was a Spaten Optimator and part of a 4 beer sampler. that stuff had a pretty high ABV too...
I had a 1L of that right after the sampler.
teresa- No, no, no! It's pinky-out only for tea!
chad- huh, i didn't realize we were doing swap glasses too. I was just gonna bring a bunch of beer and some Solo cups or something to drink out of.

Guys, Chad is referring to the souvenir glasses that each registered participant will get. Detroit Tuned sponsors the glasses and is providing them.
You should still bring some dixie cups for sampling.

Yes, while the Veterans and a few new comers are aware, most of you are not.
Detroit Tuned is our best & main sponsor for the event and will be providing one Dragon Brew Swap Pint Glass to each registered attendee. So what Chad was saying is that he has all the glasses in from the maker. He has washed them all thoroughly so that you can use them immediately at the swap.
Three cheers for Chad!

Oh, my mistake...I suppose I should have read the brief sheet. Actually I did, but I retained the information like a bulimic retains Thanksgiving dinner.
Thanks, Chad. First round's on me!

Why am I getting this image of Chad at a kitchen sink, wearing an apron and rubber gloves while Tori is sitting in a recliner reading the paper and smoking a cigar?

I was hoping this would be done again!
Thanks Chad!
Well I have finally secured my beer. WHEW it was hard to find. I was going to buy 1 case for me & 2 cases for the swap back when I thought the beer was $10.50 a 6-pack but then I found out it was $10.50 a 4-pack
so I am bringing either a case or a case & 1/2 to the swap. Anybody that wants some Flying Dog, Double Dog Double Pale Ale better beeline over to me cause it will be going fast

Since those were my idea/project, I'll answer so Matt doesn't feel like he has to make up anything on my behalf:
Simply put, there wasn't nearly enough interest expressed. We needed to order a minimum of 100 rings but got positive responses from only about 37 people.
Since each ring is sized, it wasn't like I could just order some and then hope to sell them.I considered taking orders anyhow just to see if we could get to 100. I even figured I would add shipping to allow, if necessary, the ordering to run through the night of the brew swap. Then it all just seemed like an awful lot of work and frustration if I had to turn around and refund everyone's money because we didn't get 100 orders. For that matter, even if we did reach the minimum, thinking about all the extra work involved in shipping (vs. delivering at the Swap) was a bit off-putting. (Not to mention that life got extemely hectic at the time that I was deciding all of this.) And what if we got up to 85 or 95 orders? I wasn't prepared to pay for extra rings myself just to get to the minimum - but that's a tough time to tell eveyone 'too bad, sorry.'
So, in a nutshell, there wasn't enough interest expressed.
However, if there is a huge surge of interest from now to the event I can still do it - and I will have to ship them afterwards. Of course shipping will add about $5-$6 which will likely scare off even more people. (It seems like most folks are already at their budget limit for MOTD.) Otherwise, I figured it is something worth doing for next year.
I will bring Maerzen for sure and at least one of them has your name on it.
Any interest in cool titanium beer bottle openers maybe with Dragonswap 2007 or MOTD 2007 engraved?
