Official 2nd Annual Dragon Brew Swap Thread
Hey Roach, if it's an issue of not wanting to bring the same kind of beer (since Alabama has SO many options
) I'm bringing the Olde Towne Hefeweizen so there's still (as far as I know) Amber and Pale Ale out there

There's no rule against wine but good luck trading that off.
A big thank you to everyone who registered and helped sell out the Swap! This is going to be a great night and I look forward to meeting you all!

GRAND PRIZE ANNOUNCEMENT
Ladies & Gentlemen, I am very pleased to announce that I have secured a "Grand Prize" for the Brew Swap. This prize can be won in the same fashion as the others, by using your prize tickets and placing them in the appropriate prize box.
The grand prize for the 2nd Annual Dragon Brew Swap is 2 sets of tickets to all sessions of the 2007 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado!
In case you have no idea what that is, here's a great synonpsis from Wikipedia:
"The Great American Beer Festival (GABF) is a three-day annual event hosted by the Brewers Association that is traditionally held at the end of September/beginning of October in Denver, Colorado (dubbed “the Napa Valley of beer” by many of the world’s beer experts). The GABF brings a record number of beer connoisseurs from around the world to sample more than 1,600 different American beers. The GABF is deemed the ultimate event for tasting the beer’s of the globe’s greatest brewing nation. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the GABF is the place to find the largest selection of beers available at one time in the world.
The GABF also hosts one of the world’s largest and most prestigious tasting competitions. Over 100 professional beer judges from the United States and abroad evaluate over 2,300 beers entered by more than 450 domestic breweries. Gold, silver and bronze medals in 69 beer-style categories are awarded.
Started in 1982, the GABF was created by Charlie Papazian in Boulder, CO. The festival was desgined to celebrate the flavor and diversity of American brewers. The original GABF had 22 participating breweries and the 2006 version had 384! From the smallest breweries in the US, to the largest, the GABF has a sampling of the varied and unique breweries that make up one of the greatest brewing cultures in the world.
2006 marked the 25th anniversary of the festival. 2007 dates for the festival are October 11-13th at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver.
GABF visitors enjoy one-ounce beer samples from the fest’s breweries. These breweries are arranged on the festival floor by regions of the country, giving beer lovers a walking tour of the nation’s beer-blessed landscape. Many of the booths are staffed by the brewers themselves."
Folks this is an incredible prize. I won't post the retail value here but when tickets for the event go on sale in August you can find out for yourself. These were very kindly donated to us and you should only try to win it if you would be able to make it to Denver in late September/early October. Personally, I'd do whatever I had to to make this event. I can't this year as all my vacation days are spoken for but I'm shooting to attend it in 2008.
Last year there were over 1,650 beers available for sampling on the festival floor.

Now you'll have a chance to go again!
Only 46 waivers received so far....that means a whole lot of you will be waiting in the slow check in line as opposed to the express lane.
Send me your waivers folks. Email or PM me if you are clueless.

I just stumbled over a new (to me) microbrewery in our town, so besides the Abita, I'll also bring some Heiner Brau http://www.heinerbrau.com/index.php

LAST DAY TO ORDER A BREW SWAP OR BEERLYMPICS SHIRT! SOMETIME TOMORROW THE ORDER BUTTONS ARE COMING OFF THE SITE AND THAT'S ALL TILL NEXT YEAR!
To quote those arrogant bastards at Stone Brewing Company...
"Fizzy yellow beer is for wussies."
Waivers
Well I'm up to 60 waivers now along with a few in the mail to me. Most of you are going to be waiting in the LONG line to get in.
Its not hard to fill out the waiver now and get it to me. You're running out of mailing time which means you'll either need to scan it to me or have it filled out pre-swap.
If you have questions get a hold of me and I'll walk you through it.

Time is flying by and before you know it we'll all be at Fontana Village partaking of MOTD.
I do apologize if I haven't put all of your beers up on the Beer page of the website. I've been terribly busy at work and I've lost track of all the emails I've received in that regard.
In an effort to ascertain exactly what beers show up at the swap this year I'd like to enlist someone who would be willing to go around the room, table to table, cataloging the many brews in attendance. The benefit for the person who volunteers to do this is that you can sample beers at each table, most likely, and therefore truly get the most out of the swap. And I'll throw in a Beerlympics pint glass to boot. Please don't respond saying you'll do this without giving it some thought. It's going to take you awhile to make your way around the room, sampling, writing & chit chatting. Maybe it'll take up all your time at the swap. So think hard, you'd be doing us all a favor as I'll be posting the list on the website after the event. If anyone needs a refresher as the beers they tried they can use the list to help them remember. I can also use it to solicit brewers' participation next year by saying, "hey, look your beer was here last year, help us out".
PM or email me if you are interested.

...and I'll go ahead and skip any puns related to whining.
Come on what kind of beer man are you
