Official 2nd Annual Dragon Brew Swap Thread
I have decided I am bringing beer from Fordham Brewery (Ram's Head Tavern) in Annapolis, MD. They have: Copperhead Ale- Altbeir Style; C126 Light- Low Calorie Light Style; Lagar- Helles Style; Tavern Ale- Pale Ale Style; and Oyster Stout- which is of course a Stout Style. Here is a link to their website: www.fordhambrewing.com I have not decided which style I am going to bring. If anyone wants me to bring something specific, pm me and let me know.
I need to go shopping this weekend to see what I can bring. My favorite beer produced locally is still only sold in a brew pub...I had hoped they would be bottling by now.
Last year, the beer I picked was out of stock with the distributor by the time I needed it. I ended up having to detour to Nashville on the way to the Dragon and never did end up finding it. I don't want that to happen again this year.
Also, I am looking for Leatherlips IPA from the Boston Area. I read about it on Beer Advocate and it sounds interesting. I believe it is produced by the Tap Brewpub. Let me know if any of you come across it.
The Beer Advocate has a t-shirt would be good for us swappers (but not as cool as ours!)

The beers page of the website has been updated and I've also added the list of requested beers.
Lots of breweries on the list now. Check it today to see what's coming!

Just assume please. I'm swamped with the work for this as well as my career stuff. I did get yours as well as about a dozen others.
Waivers? Is that for beerlympics, or for everyone going to the brewswap?
The only e-mail I've received has been for showing off the opener ring.
edit - Oh, never mind. Dang it, I just found the waiver on the Brewswap web page...but it (and mention of it) was pretty hidden. You should make clear mention of it for those of us with Attention Span Deficit Disorder :impatient.
For my brethren with ASDD, the waiver can be found HERE

Rick, in the email I sent to the registrants earlier this week I talked about how everyone needed to fill out a waiver who was attending the swap. Beerlympics folks have to fill out 2. One for the swap and one for the beerlympics. So yes, please fill out the waiver and get it back to me via email or snail mail before the event if possible (it'll make check in faster).
Mike, I'll add Pyramid Hefeweizen to the list. On the 'Beers' page of the website there is a list of the requested beers so far.

Well thanks on both accounts
Reminders!
Hey all,
Only 19 days left to place an order for a Brew Swap or Beerlympics T-Shirt. If you don't know how or need details please email me, matthewrohrbach@gmail.com, or go to the website www.dragonbrewswap.com
If the site is down please try again later.
For those of you who aren't aware, there is a Casino Night event being held on Saturday night. This is hosted by PittStop MINI and MINIUSA. This event is going to be a lot of fun and will benefit charity. It's only $25 per person which includes soft drinks, snacks, limited open bar (then a cash bar) and lots of prizes. You are gambling with "play" money so you don't have to worry about losing anything. The casino games will be put on by a company that specializes in events like this which means it'll be authentic and fun.
Check out the Monte Carlo Night thread in this forum for all the details.
Last but not least, send me your beer info and State location if you have registered for the Swap. That is unless you already got me that info.
Peace
Matt

I have previously mentioned a special item we are trying to make available to everyone this year. That item is a bottle opener in the shape of a ring which fits comfortably on your hand. This is the brainchild of Mini2Go and I have to say I think its pretty damn cool. Early response has been slow coming but so far its been very favorable. However, due to the minimum order requirement we don't have nearly enough responses to gauge whether we should open up ordering for the item or not. So again I ask you to take a look at the image attached (this is the engraving which would go on the ring, go to the ring website (for more pictures of the ring itself) and send John your feedback. We need this feedback by the morning of Monday, March 19th. For those of you who have already done so, you do not need to send your response again.

Some of you out there may know people who are allergic to Gluten or have Ciliac's Disease. These conditions make eating and drinking much more difficult as damn near everything has gluten. However, there are brewers out there who make Gluten free beers and I'm happy to say there will be some at the Swap. Shankrabbit has such an allergy and will be bringing 3 varieties of Gluten Free Beer. If you have a condition such as the ones mentioned above please let me know. I would like to make sure you can be accommodated. Thank you Shankrabbit for bringing these beers!
Many of you have still not gotten back to me on what State you are from and what beers you are bringing. If you have not done so already, please email me with the that information. I'd also like to remind you again to fill out the waiver form which is online and get it back to be the event. This will save everyone, including yourself, time when checking in at the Swap.
Don't forget you a little over 2 weeks to order a Brew Swap or Beerlympics T-Shirt. April 1st is the last day and there will be no extensions. Order here.
And finally, in case you haven't heard, PittStop MINI & MINI USA are teaming up to put on a very cool event on Saturday night at MOTD. MINI Monte Carlo Night will be a night of casino style gambling that is fun for all ages. You are not gambling actual money at this event! You pay $25 to get in. You get $25,000 in chips. You have free snacks and sodas available. You have a limited open bar and then when that runs out, a cash bar. You will be playing the same games you see at an actual Casino (Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Texas Hold 'Em & Slot Machines) with professional dealers/instructors. These people will teach you how to play as you gamble. Can you think of a better way to learn these games without actually losing money? And to top it all off, the piece de resistance, is that the proceeds left over (after the bills are paid) goes to benefit the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.
Where else can you get drinks, snacks, liquor, gambling, fun AND help people for only $25? Please sign up and join the fun. Registration is limited to the first 300 people so sign up today at their website. I'll see you there!

Only 9 spots left in the swap. Looks like we might sell out after all.
When things slowed down I was disappointed. Only now am I realizing that it was a pretty ambitious goal to double the attendance in a single year.
I can't wait till this thing gets set off. Woohoo!

Not really. John is deciding on whether or not to move forward with this or not. Unfortunately people tend to respond to these things when they want and not when is needed. John & I both forecast that if the attendees saw these in person at the swap the majority would want one. But since size varies it isn't like you can just order 100 and sell them off. Ya know?

It's one of the things that makes organizing this kinda thing a PITA
