Official 2nd Annual Dragon Brew Swap Thread
Official 2nd Annual Dragon Brew Swap Thread
You know, they say your 2nd time is better than your first. And that's clearly the goal this year.
For the uninitiated, the Dragon Brew Swap is the gathering of beer lovers at Fontana Village to taste and trade beers from around the country. Last year there were over 125 people and well over 100 different varieties of beer.
This year is going to have all the same elements as last year (same loose format) along with the Beerlympics drinking challenge.
All the nitty gritty details can be found on our website, http://www.dragonbrewswap.com. Nearly all the prize packs have been formed (still waiting on final word from a coupel Breweries) and are visible online. You can subscribe on the site and be emailed whenever updates go out. I highly suggest you do that to stay on top of all the hoppy goodness.
Registration should open relatively soon. Attendance at this event is limited to 250 people. To secure your slot you MUST register online and pay through the NAM store. The cost is a whopping $6. I think you can save that much by May don't you? Once all the slots are full that's it so don't wait until the last minute.
Updates will be posted here from time to time but I want this thread to serve as the communication tool for the attendees. What beer are you bringing? What beer do you want? Talk smack about the Beerlympics. Ask questions about all things beer related. Any questions you don't want to post you can send to me at matthewrohrbach@gmail.com
I'll see you Friday May 4th!

If you have someone coming with you that means we'll have doubled our Alabama attendees from last year to this year.

No beer requests from Texas for me. I'm gonna scare up some Yuengling for myself again at the event but only what I can drink at MOTD. We'll be flying to and from so we can't exactly bring beer back. I didn't get to try Simon's SwampAss last year that Bob brought. But you can bet I will this year.
By all means talk to Broch at St. Arnolds. I got no response from them despite multiple attempts to get them involved. If you score some schwag let me know what it is or have it shipped to me so I can add it to the prize packs. Thanks!

Just a note to let you all know the 4th and final Team slot for the Beerlympics has been filled. A group from Houston, Texas will proudly be raising their cups in an effort to take down the teams from Florida and Michigan.
Important Note: I would like to have a Home Brew competition this year. Mr.GBMINIgirl and PEP are definitely bringing their homemade beer. Maybe CustomAV will bring his again like last year. If anyone else out there is interested please let me know ASAP. I'll need to put together the details shortly to give the brewers time to make their beer for MOTD.

And Kris, we'll either be in an econobox rental POS or a MINI Cooper. Depends on if the price is right on the MINI rental.
Awesome! Lois, I know you were slated to attend last year but I don't remember checking you in. Did you ever make it?
Oh, thank you
!!! I went there on a road trip and loved the brewery(they had a crawfish festival thing at the time) and the beer!!
Any requests for Philly? if anyone's heard of Sly Fox--they've got a mean IPA

The only Philly beer we had last year was Yard's. The only PA beer I want is Yuengling. And since PA led the way last year with the most attendees I'm sure Yuengling will be well represented again.
Never heard of Sly Fox. How is it?
P.S. Actually, see if you can find any "River Horse" beer in your area. It's made in Lambertville, NJ.

I'll see what i can do--i'm embarrasingly good at finding microbrews...
Sly Fox is great--I'm a big fan of their brews...especially the RT113 IPA--really hoppy and great flavor! I'll have to bring some along for tasting!

And I dont know why you dont think you can fly with it, I brought back 7 bottles of Liquor from a cruise. Just got to pack it well in your checked stuff.
