Official 2nd Annual Dragon Brew Swap Thread

Awesome! Back in my pre-legal drinking age River Horse got started. My mom actually bought some stock in their company for fun and I have a tap from them somewhere. But I never got to taste their beer. So now I can. Yay!

I'll be bringing 2 styles of homebrew this year, although I haven't decided what yet. I started homebrewing back in July, but don't let that fool ya. I've been brewing like a madman and I've gotten pretty good at it. Heh heh. As for my ideas on the homebrew competition, see the comment on Dragon Brew Swap site. Either way, I'm just happy that Mrs. PEP and I can make it again this year. Now, we just need to decide if we're going to bring my 06 MCS or her new (as of December) 06 MC.

Beerlympics Sponsor Announced
I am proud to announce that MINI5280 will be the official Beerlympics sponsor for the 2007 Dragon Brew Swap.
MINI5280 is known, outside of the Rocky Mountain Region, for putting on MINIs In The Mountains this past August. It was a rousing success with MINI owners from 21 states in attendance. They are setting it up again for this year and there's no doubt it'll be even better. This year MITM2 will be from August 9th through the 12th.
As the Beerlympics sponsor they will be providing the beer for the drinking events. At this time we know the brewer will be Big Sky Brewing but a specific beer has not yet been chosen.
Be sure to chat up the MINI5280 guys at the Beerlympics to learn more about MITM2.

Remind me about your request again in late March/early April. Once registration opens and people sign up I can see if anyone from that area is coming and if they can find that beer for you.
This what its all about people. Feel free to post your requests now and we'll see if we can't work it out by the time MOTD rolls around. The Brew Swap got started with a simple request for someone to bring Yuengling!

Matt,
I would like to know more about the homebrew comp. I have been a homebrewer for some time. What do we have to make? Keg or bottle? Nitro or co2? So many Q so little time. If anyone can help me out I would much appreciate it. I don't come on here often but visit MichiganMINI.org regularly. Will make a point to check on here too.
Cheers
Chris

I can add him to the list of home brewers who I'm talking with for this event. We're in discussions right now on what style we'll be brewing for the competition.
See you at the swap!

BTW, in addition to home brew, we will probably also be bringing some microbrew to swap (Lakefront Brewery from Milwaukee)...
I'm stoked....

Registration should open up about mid-February. T-Shirt sales should open up then as well (and that'll be on the Dragon Brew Swap website).
The Home Brew details are coming together.
The Beerlympics details have been finalized and we have a sponsor (This message brought to you by MINI5280.org and MINIs In The Mountains - See you in August!)
Who else is stoked?

The Home Brew Challenege is now set.
We have five competitors going toe-to-toe. Each will brew two pre-determined styles of beer to present to the judges. There will be a winner for each style and one overall best beer winner.
If you are curious about home brewing I would suggest you spectate the event. You can ask the guys how they do it, where they get their supplies and get tips.
I expect this to be another excellent addition to the Brew Swap.

As mentioned previously, the Home Brew guys will be making two pre-determined styles of beer for the competition. Those styles have now been finalized.
They will be making an American Amber Ale and an Oatmeal Stout. *insert licking lips icon here*
Yummy.
As a side note, the new t-shirt is almost available for the unveiling. Its awesome.
