Florida Beer should be sending me goodies to give away shortly so please don't go asking for more.

Mostly just ask for free beer samples that is! They are a good bunch and the tap is always open.

Dang it, that was my idea as well. Why can't we have more small breweries in Florida??

I've found Double Bastard in the 22oz bombers here in KY. If you like Arrogant Bastard, Double Bastard is doubly good. Their Smoked Porter is excellent as well. Actually, I've liked everything I've had of theirs except the 10th Anniversary.

I LOVE Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. You just can't beat a 10% ABV Imperial Stout for $8 a six-pack.

The Brooklyn is awesome, but I've got to say that the Bell's Expedition is worth the extra $$ IMHO. The Bell's Hopslam is awesome too.

I haven't had Bell's Expedition in a long time. Hey, I'll get some this weekend. What a great idea!

I've seen Hopslam, but haven't tried it. Hey, another great idea!

I'm pretty surprised that I haven't seel any Bell's for sale here in Phoenix. We have so many other microbrews but not them. I didn't get to try any of theirs last year.

I was surprized when it started showing up on tap & in sixes in select locations a few years ago in Cincinnati. Wikipedia explains most of the details, but I know they had to build a second brewery at one point so that they could grow without having to close the brewpub at the original location in Kalamazoo. Interesting info in there about why they pulled out of Illinios/Chicago. They were huge in Chicago.

Okay, since I just moved to Wisconsin last fall, I've been trying to figure out what local beer to bring with me. I think I made up my mind last night.

http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/beers.html

I especially like 'Fat Squirrel' and 'Spotted Cow'.

I'd still love to get some of the 'Spring Bock' from Mad Anthony's in Fort Wayne, and if anyone is coming from Germany, if you could stop over at the DomHof in Speyer, that would be great too

We had some New Glarus last year at the swap. Wisconsin has a lot of breweries to choose from so you are lucky in that respect.

Give me a link to the website or something as I have no idea what you are referring to.

They relocated their brewing facility completely to the new building in Galesburg. It's a nice modern facility now. Their old building in the brewery area is so derelict it's amazing anything good ever came out of there!

Definitely bring some New Glarus. Sounds like they are fighting the good fight along with Larry Bell...

“The question is, why do I have to have somebody else own my brands and decide what’s best for my beer in the state?” says Larry Bell. “I’m the owner—shouldn’t I get to decide what’s best for my beer?”
While Bell certainly isn’t the only brewer to raise the question, to the best of anyone’s knowledge only one other brewer has pulled out of Illinois because of the franchise law. “I had a very bizarre experience,” says Deb Carey, president of New Glarus Brewing in Wisconsin, perhaps the most respected brewery in the midwest. Carey says that after River City Wine and Spirits, her distributor in parts of northern Illinois outside Chicago, was bought out by Southern Wine and Spirits in 2002, she was told that the new company wouldn’t be distributing her beer. “So I wrote them saying I’d like to buy back the product and POS [point of sale merchandising] and anything else. I got a letter back saying, ‘If you don’t want us to distribute your product, you owe us $20,000.’ They would not give me a justification for that price. I thought that was ludicrous since they had no intention of selling my beer.” (Southern Wine and Spirits officials did not return calls for this story.) Carey didn’t have $20,000, she didn’t have money for lawyers, and she was already having trouble meeting demand in Illinois. She felt her only option was to pull out of the whole state—including Chicago, where she was having no problems with her distributors. And so she did.

Here's the whole article: http://www.chicagoreader.com/features/stories/bells/

Dang...I was going to bring along some Spotted Cow.

[Rhetorical Question] Now where, oh where, will I find another beer in the state of Wisconsin. [/Rhetorical Question]

I may just have to break out a few bottles of my Sam Adams Triple Bock Special Reserve 1995. Not a microbrew as such, but delightfully tasty, just the same - and not for the faint of heart.

I hear that's good stuff Moe.

And guys, more than one person can bring beer from the same Brewery. Why not just get together with the other person and work out which styles you each will bring?

I remember wikipedia for many things but it still surprises me the stuff you find on there.

Illinois better do something about that law. Pretty soon you won't be able to get good beer there anymore. It's a retarded law.

Hey Rick, how about some Capital Brewery? Great stuff. I would bring some, but I'm already probably bringing some Lakefront Brewery (my brother works there) and some home brew he is also making...

Maybe it's time to buy the trailer I'm looking at...

Ed, if you like Capital beer you will probably be able to compliment the Brew Master in person at the swap.
