2 Items for Update...

1- Like some mentioned above, the Automated askMini now tells me that my JCW MCS HB/B is "in production" with an estimated completion date of 11/7!!

2- Just received an email called 'Mind Meld with your MINI'. It is basically asking for you to pre-select your preferences for setting up some of the computer programming options. Here is what the OL site link that was referenced offers:

Please use the form below to let us know your preferences about a few things and a certified MINI Technician from your MINI dealer will program your MINI to match your requests.

YOUR TASTES IN MUSIC:

1. Tell us the frequencies of your 6 favorite radio stations (no letters, just station numbers) and we'll pre-program them for you:
- Station 1
- Station 2
- Station 3
- Station 4
- Station 5
- Station 6

LOCKING SYSTEMS:
2. Would you like your MINI to automatically lock the doors after you get going over 10 mph?
- Yes
- No

3. Would you like a single click of the "Unlock" button on your key to open all the doors (including the hatch) or just the driver's side door with a second click required to open the other doors?
- Open all the doors.
- Only open the driver's side door.

YOUR VIEWS ON LIGHTING:
4. If you'd like, your MINI will keep its headlights on to help light your way after you have gotten out and locked the doors.
- No thanks.
Great. Please have my MINI keep its headlights on for:
- 40 seconds
- 1.5 minutes
- 2.5 minutes
- 4 minutes

5. Would you like your MINI to activate its daytime driving lights? They'll automatically turn off when you turn the engine off.
- Yes
- No

--------------------

Obviously, there are quite a few other parameters that can be adjusted (detailed in the owner's manual and on countless threads on NAM and MINI2), but these are the basics.

I am just glad to see that MINI is taking the effort to make new owners aware that such options can be tailored to their desire, and holding the dealerships responsible for providing a one-time configuration session at delivery time free of charge. I intend to be there when the service tech is actually making the changes, so that I can have some of the other settings customized, like activating the 'Convenience Opening' feature of the remote key fob.
.

Coopernicous: got your color changed from Monotone to 2 tone.

I have very eclectic tastes in music. I only have 2 stations programmed on the radio in our MINIvan. Despite the fact that it has 18 FM presets! The stratus had 12 and I still only used 2.

DrDiff - Thanks for the update.

My tastes in music are certainly NOT what I would call eclectic, but Charlotte, NC has probably the WORST offering of radio stations of any city it's size in the US, so I struggle to find ANY stations worth bothering to pre-select .

I will be installing the BlitzSafe XM adapter as soon after delivery as I can.

I ordered from Morristown MINI here in NJ. The car is a MCS PW/B, black bonnet stripes, 6 speed manual, black leatherette, siler int surfaces, 3 spoke multifunc. wheel, chrome grille, iPod adapter.

If the car is completed Nov 7 what are the chances of taking delivery before the end of the month???

Weel 40'er dropping in

FYI for any West Coast Week 45'ers: All of the week 40 MINIs bound for Port Hueneme went on NYK, not WW, so don't get discouraged if your VIN doesn't show up on the WW site. Once your MINI is loaded on an NYK ship, your dealer is your best source for schedule updates for NYK. My week 40 MINI is due into Port Hueneme on 11/8.

Also, back in January 2004 I had the opportunity to Tour the Port Hueneme VDC with the L.A. BMWCCA. The link has some photos from that tour. I also put together a Desktop Wallpaper of the Port Hueneme VDC for MotoringFile.

Forgot to originally mention, but as soon as my OL status went from On Order to In Production, I had a VIN number. Still no options showing up.

I'm a week from being completed! 11/6 is the estimated completion date.

My MA is saying mid-December to end of december. Seems like it should be more like beginning of December to me?

It depends entirely on the ship date. My MA told me the same time to get the car and im week 43. I will get my car mid november now. The key factor s the shipping date for your car because it can get delayed for a long time.

Don't we all wish that we could be the only MINI on the boat? Besides Saving $$$$, I guess that they ship this way so that the MINIs don't feel lonely when no body is oogling, Motoring, Modifying them.

I guess parts of weeks 43, 44, and 45 will go at the same time.

Im week 43 and my car made the October 26 boat. It will be here in mid November. All of yours will probably make a early to mid november boat meaning the car will get here mid to late dec.

45 or 46?

I just found out from the automated system that I have an estimated completion date of 11/8, so is that week 45 or the first day of week 46?

MINI config and story here:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=53808

Short version:

'06 MCS SB/SB
All four packages (web spokes no stripe) plus JCW & rear fog. (no checkmate)
JCW suspension, side skirts, aux input, little rubber bumper guard for loading groceries.

When it comes to build week the last day of the week is most important. For your car to be a week 45 MINI it must be at the docks by closing time Friday November 11, 2005. If your MINI is still on the line or waiting to get on the train to go to the docks on Friday November 11, 2005 at closing time, you will be a week 46 MINI

Never accept any information from the automated system. Speak to a real PERSON. they will geive you a possible date and a guaranteed date. While your possible date is week 45 you need to know the guaranteed date. in order to prevent un-necessary stress, always think guaranteed date.

Then there is getting on the boat. Sometimes it can take a couple of weeks or so. Many week 43 and 44 cars are stitting waiting to get on board.

If you have a guaranteed date in week 45 let me know and I will offiicially add you to the list. While you are making the call ask them for your VIN. number. Having a VIN number usually means that your car will be finished in the next 10-12 days or so.

ja ME s: SO happy for you. You ought to drill a hole in the back of that etch a sketch to remove the excess stuff out of it so that the image can not be erased.

I hope to get my VIN soon as I also MIB is Astro Black

Cecil Davis should get his MCS first. A quick trip accross the Channel Maybe a train ride in the Chunnel. Then accros the continent, By train/truck. No long float to Italy.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I called 866 Ask MINI twice today. The first time was before they got in at 9 Eastern. Brain Fart, I knew that they did not open before 9 am Eastern.

I have good news: MIB is scheduled for completion Next Wednesday! November 9, 2005!

Got my VIN also!

Congrats! I'm very happy for you and in it's only fitting that the person that started this thread of the Week 45 Group, stays in the Week 45 Group.

Congrats Dr Diff. And just FYI, the estimated completion date is very conservative. Mine was October 29, but my car was done on the 22 and on the boat on the 26.

All I can hear is that Carly Simon song from the Heinz ketuchup commercial...

Anticipation its making me wait...
Well, since I haven't seen a "Support Group" for my production week at the moment (week 46 ~ week of 14 Nov 05) I hope everyone will forgive me for intruding on the 45 group. Anyway, to give you a littel insight into what my 2006 MCS-JCW will come with here's my ordered list of options:
  • Space Blue,
  • JCW Engine Kit of course (Factory Installed),
  • Cold weather package,
  • Sports Package,
  • Rear Fog Lamps,
  • Park Distance Control,
  • English Panther Black Leather Upholstery,
  • NAV System,
  • JCW Suspension (Dealer Installed).
I've had my production number for a few weeks now, but I just received my VIN number last week, so I'm getting excited.

As for a name. . . . undecided at the moment. Thanks for letting me
joining in on your groups thread. . . . more later.

That etch-a-sketch isn't worth saving - i wasn't too pleased with the way the tires or the entire front end of the car turned out so i will probably redo it at some point. Unfortunately my laptop and camera are both on the fritz so i had to put up what i could while over my parents. Maybe i'll carve a mini pumpkin tonight instead.

How soon after the completion date do our mini's make it to the boats? I've heard upwards of a few weeks which will be torturous after finally getting out of the 'on order' limbo.

Man, I am getting FRUSTRATED. I ordered my car on the 15th, and was told that it went nearly immediately into production. 2.5 weeks later, they say that it still isn't even painted yet, and that they really don't have a completion date. They told me to call back in about a week to get a completion date. That will be 3.5 weeks JUST TO GET A DATE! I am starting to get really discouraged, and I'm almost not wanting to follow through with this. I was told that I would have the car about 5 weeks after it was ordered by the dealer, now it's looking like it will be more like 8-9 weeks. I don't have a car AT ALL, because my Scion sold quickly. I cannot do another 6-7 weeks of having no car.
