now here's my question... I've heard that a car with the production week indicated would actually have been completed the week before. so does that mean that our cars will have been completed before 11/7? I'm definately not holding out for thanksgiving, but the first week of december would be SWEET :D

We talked about this early in the thread. Supposedly all week 45 cars will be finished and in route to the docks by Friday November 11. Now as to when we get VIN Numbers and get out of "On Order" Status.... Hopefully some time next week.

I have learned that the order tracking in the Owners Lounge is not accurate. They have problems tracking 2006 minis. I did make make it a favorites link though. The best information is still 1 866 Ask MINI. I have it in speed dial.

In the four weeks since I received my production number, I have called 3 times--each time a different rep spoke with me. I confirmed my MINI's options twice.

Two times to ASK MINI since production #, every other day or so in the dealer to gaze longingly over the Mini's in stock and for service, most sold already. Hoping for delivery by end of Nov. ASK MINI says completed by 10-3, but sales says they have an awful LOT of built MINIS all coming in about the same few weeks so they can't be sure. Am I obsessed yet???

I sent an email to my MA today to see if I can add the chrome line interior. does anyone know if it's too late to make changes yet? She hasn't replied yet but if it is too late I'll just get some aftermarket chrome later.

866 Ask MINI has been less than helpful with the number code status of the car. Seems that the codes listed on MINI2.com are no longer used. "150 Production Started" was the cut off for changes.

Still no VIN number, wasn't expecting it yet, but when you are in the owners lounge you have to check

Ah well, I'm sure it will be worth it in the end!
Howdy all,

My first post. I'm in the same boat - I ordered a MINI on Aug 27 and was told that it would be here in mid-October (yay!), but since I'm getting Solar Red that was pushed back to production week 40 - (boo), and then that was pushed back even farther to production week 45 (wah).

So glad there's a support group! The waiting is hard!... I've been driving a minivan for a zillion years and didn't think I'd be getting a MINI any time soon. I think my husband got tired of my wanting to borrow his MINI whenever he wasn't driving it (BRG '05) and when I suggested we'd save gas $$$ if I got a MINI for daily driving (what a lame reason, huh?), he agreed. Woo hoo!!

Anyway, looking forward to hearing how our MINIs are progressing!

Welcome to week 45! I will get all of you added to the list.

I wonder if the color choice determines order of build?

Chili Red is the most popular color.

speedyalice: Solar Red MSC JCW? Is that correct? Roof Color?

Thanks!

I was told in August that the Solar Reds weren't going to be produced until the first week in Oct, unlike the other '06's, which were being built in Sept. And then, as I understand it, the MA thought I'd get the Week 40 Cooper that was allotted to them in Oct, but it turns out someone had it first, so I got the second one, which is Week 45. So that's how I ended up with a MINI in Nov/Dec instead of mid-October. But at least I'm getting one, so I can't be too upset about it!

My MINI is actually a MC... here are her specs:

Solar Red MC/red roof
Black Leatherette
Cold Weather Pkg
Sunroof
Sport Seats
Chrome Line Interior
Anthracite Headliner
Anthracite Interior
Multi-function steering wheel
Checkered sunroof graphic
Checkered flag side mirrors
White bonnet stripes edged in black

I was having a hard time making a decision about the roof, but then found out that I was limited to just silver or red, which made the decision easier, since I was getting the checkered sunroof graphic. I also thought about having the graphic cover the entire roof, but I don't know if that's possible with Solar Red. Maybe it's just as well - one fewer decision to make.

Looking forward to watching the progress of everyone's MINIs!

I called Ask MINI before making the updates. MIB is still up in the air. Possible week 44 but Confirmed week 45. I asked why other week 45 cars are in body shop and I am only on order. I told them that I think it has somethig to to with being convertables. Did not get an answer on this subject. Instead I was told that week 44 cars will start assembly process on Monday October 24 and that week 45 will start on October 31.

I am begining to wonder if they lump all the colors together. EX All Chili Red on the same day...

Bottom line, NO CHANGE. ARRGGGGHHHHH!

I just have to say that a solar red car with body color roof calls for one thing in my mind... picture the solar red with a silver/clear checker roof graphic! sounds awesome!

Clear checkers? So the roof would be red and silver checks? Hmm. I don't suppose there's a picture of something like that that I can look at? It sounds cool... but I still like the idea of the checkered flag side mirrors, and I can't picture how a silver/red roof would look with black/white mirrors (don't you love having all these choices?!?).

First time message - long time lurker

Just stopping in to say hey! Ordered my MCS JCW in late July for, gulp, week 45. At least it gave me time to make the GTI VR6 look nice for selling. This is my second VR6, the first was a 1996 that I sold to my brother (family pricing) and I still miss. The motor in the 2003 is nice, but the throttle response is hit and miss (DBW, curses). I can't wait for the day it arrives - my MA sent one of those crazy robots for my birthday - not sure what to do with that. Too bad they don't make em in SB.
I can't wait to see those horseshoe wheels - I hope I don't laugh too much.
