12/16 - Vin#/ production started (150) - MA Email

12/20 – estimate completion- 01/09 - ASKMINI

12/22 – In the Paint Shop (152) - ASKMINI

live ask mini hasen't given me anything and actually automated response has given me more info. OL is almost useless
If you have the MA and ASKMINI telling you that the car is in the body shop and paint shop as of 12/22, it shouldn't take until 1/9 to complete. Once it starts production, it usually takes just a week to complete the build (assembly actually takes place in one day). Mine was at the dock waiting for the ship 8 days after it started production.

Jack is HERE! I picked him up 9:30am yesterday morning. Sorry for not updating sooner...but the time I've been awake...I've been driving around (or working, lol.)

The wait was definitely worth it. I have all next week off for vacation, so Jack will be well loved in that time. I'm not doing so hot with the 'break in' period. I've been doing alright though, only going up to 6k once (to avoid an accident...MA residents can't drive. )

Sorry for the crap pictures, my camera phone had a smudge on it. I'll get better ones next week. I already started modding: I traded out the bullwhip for a stubby antennae.

He's lookin' great! Congrats. But...where are the stripes? Are you doing them elsewhere?

I saw that too and nearly died but then I realized that has always been the date it is scheduled to leave Baltimore so I'm thinking it's just a mix up. The Oberon is about 2 hours from the entrance to Baltimore port according to marinetraffic.com so the 27th is an impossibility unless they drop anchor which I think might upset the port authority

Also, if you look at the Oberons itinerary on the WW site it still lists the 23rd as ETA to Baltimore and 27th as ETD. The tracking page did change but I wouldn't worry about that effecting you and I (and the 370+ other future Mini owners with Cars on board).

I say it'll be docked by this evening!

My car is going to KY so about 10 hrs I think (give or take).

Yup. I have an appointment for the stripes this Thursday at a local decal/vinyl shop. The driving lights won't be installed until the Spring. I got lots of modding to do this spring..but I just couldn't wait for my stripes!

I brought the car to my mom's today to show her. The first thing she said was "Wow, I love the color!" The next thing she said was "Where are the stripes?"

To those concerned. The (WW) Oberon is at anchor at the BMW of North America Terminal in Baltimore! 5:23 EST. YES!

BMW of North America
2900 Childs St
Baltimore MD 21226

Now the next stage in the waiting game begins and though I can't say for certain I'd imagine the VPC is closed for Christmas and perhaps even Christmas eve.

Chaswyck,
When I ordered the dealer used an existing production slot. So at first car said it was a certain color and then a couple of days later it changed to my color (white silver / black) and then it said scheduled for production. So if east coast saves a week or two, then perhaps late Jan, vs. Feb. Just not sure how the holidays effect car production. Perhaps they close down for a week.

Danigurrl,
Did you get the mini in Hartford or up in Mass somewhere?

thanks

The Oberon was docked at the Baltimore BMW terminal for 5 hours and is now underway again. It has moved across the port and docked at another area. I'm hoping since it originally docked at the BMW terminal it offloaded our Mini's and is just moving to another section to await it's departure on the 27th!!! This seems the most likely scenario. I think it's safe to say our Mini's are firmly on US soil!

I can't imagine that they close the plant for anything like a week. As it is they run that plant in three shifts, 24/7. They MIGHT close on Christmas. The difference in shipping between East and West Coasts is about 20 days to CA and like 8 to the NJ and Baltimore, I believe. You should be motoring in no time!

I'd certainly think your MA would know this.

How long from the time you guys saw your ship had landed till the bill of shipping changed on the WW tracking page to reflect that it had been offloaded, etc.?

My MA is harder to get a hold of than the President. I've left a message though which means I should hear back some time next week.....if the moon and tides are just right!

I'd definitely reflect this on the survey you get from MINI. My MA was very good but did tell me he's compensated based in large part on results of the customer satisfaction survey. As a result, I got an email from him an hour after the ship docked!

I'll be taking your advice SpicyMagaru. Funny thing is he's great to deal with in person but working with him via phone/email/text is next to impossible. I'd cut him some slack if I knew it was just the fact that he was swamped all the time but I know this is'nt true. I think he's just one of those folks who feels that if your out of sight you can be put off easier.

So, did any of you guys see a change in your tracking status on the WW line website once your shipped arrived at the end port? I'm curious how fast the WW line tracking will reflect that the ship has been emptied or if once your car is offloaded it will reflect that.

The Oberon docked yesterday at the baltimore BMW terminal(even though the WW tracking site has it at an ETA of the 27th) for 5 hours then moved across the bay and docked. The ship is set to depart on the 27th for GA. Since there hasn't been any change in my Mini's status I'm wondering if they're not going to offload till the 27th afterall.

Sorry if I'm being redundant, lol

I think your MA is the same as my MA.

My status showed that mine was off the ship on the 16th from the Mignon that docked in Port H on the 15th and left port fairly early on the 16th for some time off. So we can only guess that the ship won't offload until Monday. Now I am sweating where she is in the 'ether' that is the ground shipping from there to Colorado. No way to track until my MA calls me.

For my chili red 2012 MCS:

Ordered Aug 19
Production Started: Aug 30
Expected Completion Date: Sept 7th
Awaiting Transport Sept 8th
Loaded 9/13/11 on Platinum Ray
Arrival at Port Hueneme, CA on 10/5/11
Picked up at dealership on 10/12/11

Not sure why it took almost a week to arrive at the dealership. Others in my area (but not the same dealership) on the same ship received their cars before I did, but the MA told me that it depended on how it was loaded onto the ship. I believe it arrived at the dealership a day or two before i picked it up.

866-ask-mini, has different status than website. Ask Mini says 'in paint and production should be complete on 1/3/2012. Perhaps then I can move into the MV tracking phase.

Boy guys I don't feel like I paid my dues. My MCS 2012 Chili Red convertible was at the dealship for sale. It had all I wanted so bought it and drove home. all done in 2 days. Maybe I need to park it in the garage for a month and just look at it. :-) Nahhhhhh don't think my heart would stand what you guys are going through.

I bought my first Mini three years ago at the dealership because I felt it had all that I wanted. I was very happy with it, but I wanted the experience of ordering my new one with my exact specifications and tracking it across the ocean. You were lucky that the dealership had one that fit your needs exactly!

PeterPan101:

OL changed to "at distribution center" with a Dec. 30 delivery date on my end as well! What a nice surprising change to an already great Christmas!
