Anybody else in Week 19 (2009)?
Im happy to report, that after the trip up the california coast fully loaded with the air on part way, and the trip back partly loaded and air on part way coming down HWY 1, with all the switchbacks and slow turns, Oxley turned in a galant 36.4 miles per gallon. thats US gallons, not imperial =)
not bad!
sadly, no new photos as i've been sick since i left the house on thursday. shouldn't have gone, but had to drive my sister up with me.

I was pleasantly surprised on how well it handled. My last two cars were both BMW's, a Z4 and a 330cic. Neither of them handled nearly as well. The ONLY thing I liked better on the BMW's was the turning radius. I can live with that. Otherwise, neither of them held a candle to my little Mini.

I suspect it will be a challenge to keep it in that range once I get out of the break-in period. I must say I'm enjoying the turbo. Are you familiar with "The Incredibles"? The scene where Dash realizes he can run on the water? That's the way I feel when I press the pedal and get that burst of speed.

Hey!! I have you all beat! I hit 1500 miles on Stella yesterday! I actually only had 1100 yesterday morning but I had to drive 400 miles round trip to drop my teenage son off with my dad. We meet halfway. I will have to do it again on Friday so I think I may hit 2000! I have just been driving all over for entertainment, at least until my kids got out of school. It will slow way down now! Hey, did you guys know we only need an oil change every 15000 miles???? IS THAT RIGHT???? sounds crazy! The MINI service here just told me that... we use some weird synthetic oil.
Has anyone had to get bugs out of the little net shield that pops up when you open the sunroof? gross...

My Mini didn't return very good mileage, only 26, at the first fill up but I'm assuming that that is because I had a hard time adjusting from driving a Honda Civic that has no horsepower, to a car that actually understands what acceleration means.
Bugs - they're everywhere!

Yeah, my dad changes the oil in all three of our cars (now 4 including mine) at the same time. I think that he does it twice each year because of the extreme weather in Texas. We have extreme heat in the summer and fall, and frigid cold in the winter, with the spring being a toss-up each year. It's either that or he changes the oil when one of the cars complains about it
Quick question: does anyone have any idea of how to keep the rubber floor mats from sliding around? I've heard on the forum that it's something the dealer should have installed but didn't. I'm tired of my floor mat moving up to block the pedals.
I have the cloth floor mats and on the driver's side there is velcro. You might ask if something like that is available.
Okay folks, time to start getting serious!
As of this morning we are clear of the break-in period! Woo hoo!
Quick question - anybody getting any weird rattles or buzzes in their cars? I have a slight vibration buzz that sounds like it's coming from the driver's side door trim. It comes and goes and I haven't been able to isolate it yet.
Lacynpiper, I'll be curious to hear what you work out with the rubber floor mats - I just ordered a set for myself.

The rubber floor mats come with two velcro pads with a plastic screw back. You screw them into the carpet mats at their rear corners. Then the rubber one will stay put.
My MA did not put them in, but he included them, so I expect your dealer still has yours.

Anyway, I just broke 500 miles so I have a ways to go before I can "get serious"
although I have been pushing her a bit.
I am having a lot of fun with my new car though. Wow what a difference between the justa and the S! Don't get me wrong, the justa is quite fun and quick and nimble but the extra power in the S makes such a big difference.
As far as rattles and buzzing, my new one has had both from the moment I drove it off the lot but I was expecting this as my '07 plays similar "music". And yes, the buzzing (in both my cars) is most likely coming from the door lock plungers. The dealer has tried fixing this once with felt tape but to no avail. I think I'll try some sort of lube to see if that improves things. It's not loud but very annoying since its right under my ear.
Glad to hear everyone is enjoying their cars (save for a few smallish issues)!!!

Man, I just filled up my car for the first time yesterday. Ya .. only 300+ miles on it and my first fill up. Sigh.
On the bright side, I just had the tinting done and my hood protected with an invisible bra. New Carbotech brake pads are sitting on the counter, just need to get those installed so I don't have to clean the wheels every day.

Do the Carbotech brake pads not shed copious amounts of brake dust like the current stock ones? My wheels look awful. I think that I may just have to break down and clean my entire car next week sometime. Do tell us more about the brakes that you are installing!
I feel so much older when I drive one of those.
I was so happy when my dealership's on-premesis Budget Rent-a-Car (used mostly for loaners) began offering MINIs. The only issue now is that they don't have any S's
but, beggers can't be choosers, right?
I couldn't agree more. The BMW's are nice but boy are they BORING!!!!!!

OMG you hit the nail on the head when comparing BMW to Mini--I just came of 2 BMW's and while the Z-4 might not qualify as "boring", the 330ci sure was. It was very generic. I am surprised with as good as a reputation that BMW has, the interior has not changed in years and it looks like a car for an older person--not fun and sporty like the Mini--inside and out

. I am thinking about graphics on the side---any thoughts or opinions? What I have picked out is somewhere between tribal marks and flames, multi-color, but muted and subtle. Since I have the factory aero kit, the entire side is blue and graphics would add some color.
You need to post new pictures!

When it started up the other day I hit the door lock switch and lo, the noise, she disappear!
I can't imagine what to put on them to keep them from vibrating but allow them to work. Let me know if you come up with anything - like you say, it's right by my ear!
