Anybody else in Week 19 (2009)?
You picked yours up the same day I did
. To Brad--how funny that we both have Mini's and an Odyssey. Gotta hand it to the Odyssey, one great mini-van.
!
It's only because we have that vehicle as a primary family car that I could even consider the Clubman, so let's hear it for the Odyssey!
Brad
Only had the top up to take pictures, we have had the top down as much as possible. The drive to work today was fun, drove with the top down at 7:30 am wasn't too bad had the temp in the mini set for 72 degrees.
Weird question how many miles did everyone have on their cars when you picked them up? ours had 6 miles.
Has anyone bought a car cover? any thoughts and which type?

Mine had 9 miles when I picked up.
Mine had 8. Runs like a champ. Other than one small area of paint mis-match on the top (which I decided I will live with rather than take the chance they will repaint the entire top, which would entail replacing all of the trim) and one day of a small leak on the rear wiper, no issues. I hope and pray you did not end up with the lemon of the group
.
As to the Odyssey--I totally agree. If we did not have it, Jim and I could not have our Mini's. It is usually only used for family stuff and trips. Has only 57k miles on it and it is a 2000!

Not here, I suppose one morning it was cold and it idled like just barely up and down not much to really notice

Were you able to get it off?My rear jet is weeping again. I went out at lunch and found fluid all over the boot. When I got home I cleaned and waxed and got most of it off. It must be leaking when the outside temp starts to go up. In the meantime, I stuffed a couple of pieces of a paper towel in there to catch the drips.
My S does seem to idle a little rough. I notice a distinct difference between the S and the Cooper. I'm hoping it's normal.
Wow, I feel for y'all that are having so many problems with the wiper fluid. I haven't noticed any problems and it's been in the 90s nearly every day since I picked it up last week. As for having problems with the car riding rough, I haven't noticed anything but I have had problems with accidentally hitting the accelerator too hard. I've been driving a Honda Civic with virtually no horsepower for a while now, so the transition has been interesting.
Mine had 11 miles on it when I picked it up. Now it has well over 100. I finally have the gas gauge down by 4 bars. I love this car!!!!

Hmm, I'm curious. Does anyone else have a fan that stays on after you turn the car off? I'm assuming that it is supposed to cool down the engine but I've felt the hood immediately after turning the car off and the hood is cool enough that I can comfortably leave my hand on it. Also, does anyone else's door make a high pitched whine, very quietly but still there, when you open the doors?

300 miles? Wow! I barely have 75 on mine. Man I need to take a weekend trip somewhere and put some miles on that baby.
The weeping washer jets are pretty common. Around the 07 - 08 timeline the dealers were putting check valves in the washer lines, seemed to fix the problem for a small group of people, but not others. Best suggestion is to remove some of the washer fluid and dilute it as suggested above.
My fan stays on after my car is shut off, which is different than my 07 MCS. I could be way off, but did they just change this for the new cars to account for the turbo heat after the car is shut off? In the past the bonnet near the hood scoop would get pretty freaking hot (like 2nd degree burn), and lead to a lot of hood scoops being warped.
I fully washed the JCW this weekend, cleaned up a couple of spots with clay, and then protected everything with Epic. It's looking sweet
Hope you're all enjoying your rides folks!

Mine had 6 miles on it too. Now I think she is nearing 300 without any long trips! Oy..
Wipers only wept a little bit earlier today, otherwise they have bene good. My rear one hasn't leaked at all so that is great. The fluid tank was not full so I guess I need to keep an eye out for it. Is this something that all brands of washer fluid does? So concentrated that it eats through the clear coat? My windows were smudged tonight because I accidently turned on the wipers...doh. I was afraid to use the washer fluid to clean it because then I would have the fluid all over my hood.
Drives fantastic! No rough engine here. Other than getting dirty and being a magnet for bugs, my Mini has been great.
Yeah to my understanding, the fan runs for a little while after shutting down so that the engine can cool down. With the turbo, after a couple of minutes, the hood gets super hot on top. This is after turning off the car.

Not my door but my engine I supposed you could say does.....as my co-pilot says "You sound like a car from the Jetsons when you pull up"
Mine had 6 miles on it when I picked it up.
Weird key fob story - on Sunday my wife dropped my daughter and I off at the soccer fields and went to find parking. I had the car keys in my pocket.
She stalled the car pulling away from a stop sign, but the car restarted for her - with no key in the car. Huh. Weird. Good (in this case anyway) but weird.
She didn't realize she didn't have the key until she went to lock the car and found she couldn't do it without the fob.
