Sigh I went for a quick spin around to see if it would drip again. When I got back maybe 10 minutes after, the drivers side nozzle had a pool around the noozle. The passenger side didn't have any liquid around it. I still haven't used the washers yet.

If it has to do with the tank being full, that wouldn't make much sense since they're the ones that filled it!

On another note, make sure you guys adjust the seat belt latch holder. If you don't and it is riding low, when you close your door, the latch might get caught between the door and the seat and leave a dent in your upholstery or molding!

Oh my goodness! The interior of your car is gorgeous!!!! I really hope that everything with the paint works out ok.

PS: How do you set up the mobileMe thing? I have a Mac too, but I haven't played with that yet. Is it free or is it one of those things that you have to pay for in order to access?

That's funny, because today I was looking under my hood, checking the oil, etc. and noticed that the windshield washer fluid wasn't anywhere near full. I'm betting that that is why.

Oh, and for the floor mats and nets. I got both the rubber ones and the nets for the boot too. I didn't get the rubber mat for the boot unfortunately but I'll buy one eventually. The only problem is that the service dept didn't put in the grabby side of the velcro holder so the driver's side mat slides around. Any suggestions besides going to the dealer to get them?

I have a mobileMe account, yes. it's like $99 a year. not bad really.
go to me.com and you can sign up. Once that's done, use iPhoto to collect your photos and 'share' them to your mobile me gallery!

Thanks for the info, Radioflyer. I'll probably wait on doing that because of the whole "unemployed" thing. It kind of kills my spending impulses

uh, well maybe, but different mechanics know different things. Perhaps some don't know that. Maybe you could look to see how full it is?

Went by our Mini Mechanic today, as the rear wiper did weep just a little. Because I had a good coat of wax on it, there was no damage to the paint. He said to suck out some of the fluid and you may also want to drain it and put in a weaker solution--says the solution that comes with the mini is very strong. For the time being, may want to suck out as much as possible and add sterile water, but don't fill it as high as the fill line. That will dilute it some. Also, put some carnuba wax around the nozzles. Again, I had no damage to the clear coat and had waxed it the night before.

So a couple more questions for you all after taking my car for a 300 mile trip around the mountains over here in sport mode I went to fill it up at a gas station and....every 2 seconds the thing would click and stop like it was full...I was at like half a tank and I mean every 2 seconds I finally just said forget it and left. I would be fine since my average mpg is 44.6

Anyone have a trick to doing this or you thinking it was just that gas station?

Hope everyone had a great first weekend out! I have had this happen before (the gas thing). My experience is that it is vapor lock due to poorly designed gas nozzles. Instead of pushing it all the way in, push the nozzle in then pull it out just a hair and then try it. I usually just check out and pull to another pump. Santacruzer--very nice! You have many more top-down days than in the central valley. My last car was a convertible and I could use it off and on maybe 2-3 months out of the year. Either too cold, too hot or just did not want to mess up my hair (silly me!) If I lived on the coast, I would certainly have gotten the convertible! j.

By coincidence, I also went about 300 miles. I did not get the gas mileage you got, but it filled fine. The trip computer was optimistic, however. It said I had 75 miles left, but I put 12.5 gallons in the tank.
I did have a bunch of idling while adjusting the personal settings, so I am hoping the next will be better, as I was not wringing it out.

So if anyone is interested, I was finally able to figger out how to post photos in "Gallery". If you like puppies, meet "Cooper", the 12 week old Chaweenie that we adopted from the SPCA. He was one of my foster puppies and my 10 year old fell in love with him. Also, see what I traded in for my Mini. Pretty, but a lemon. Have fun driving this week!

This weekend my daughter had a soccer tournament in Santa Barbara. The team decided to make it an overnight trip and I really wanted to take the Clubman - one, because I want to drive it and two, because I wanted to see how it did on a longer family drive.

We waffled back and forth between the Odyssey and the Clubman and finally decided that if we could fit all our stuff in the Clubman we'd take it. We were a spare tire away from taking the minivan! It was quite an adventure getting stuff fitted into the various nooks and crannies:

Wheel well - umbrellas, a rain jacket, and my soccer bag (I referee games and my bag has my uniform, cleats, and all my ref gear)
"Hidden" compartment - my overnight bag + water bottles
Topside - two lawn chairs, a large suitcase with my wife and two kids' stuff, a cooler, a grocery bag full of food, a grocery bag full of miscellaneous stuff, and my daughter's soccer bag (cleats, shinguards, ball, etc).

It was full back there, I'm telling you. As the weekend wore on things got a little easier to manage but it was tricky. If we had a spare tire in that car I think we would have needed to go with the minivan. It's funny, having had that for a family trip option we've gotten used to having whatever room we needed for anything that we might want. Lesson one that I would offer to anybody traveling with a MINI - pack multiple smaller bags instead of one big bag - it was difficult to pack around the big suitcase.

We loaded everybody up in the car and headed out early Saturday morning - we had to be in Santa Barbara by 7 AM so we left home at about 5:30 AM. Yikes! The drive was fantastic - not a lot of twisties but plenty of open road and solid cruising time. We got a little rain and I had the chance to use the rain sensor/wiper combo, which worked really nicely. It's one of those things that seems kinda silly but it was one less thing to worry about.

We got to the tournament and of course I had to unload the entire car in the parking lot to get to my soccer stuff - a process that would repeat itself a few times over the course of the weekend.

All the dads on the team were surprised to see us all pile out of the car, and every one asked "How do you fit in there?" (I'm 6'4") My daughter's coach came running up to us saying "This is the car I WANT!" (of course you do, it's awesome!) I won't lie to you - it was tight for the kids in the back seat, and I did move the seat up a couple clicks to give them a bit more space behind me, but really it was fine for the 90 mile drive.

I filled the car up for the first time on Sunday, with the computer showing 32.5 mpg - although I calculated 30.9 mpg I'm still pretty happy with the gas mileage. I continue to be pleasantly surprised at how much pickup the car has across the RPM range. Fun driving to be sure!

The only drag was getting caught in weekend traffic coming home from Santa Barbara - basic 1-2-3-2-3-2-1-2-3-2-1-2-1-2-3-4-5!-3-2-1-2 shifting for about an hour. Otherwise, the car has it's first dirt on the carpets, bugs on the grill, and miles on the tires. And it was great!

Brad

PS We also had fun at the tournament - my daughter's team won 3rd place, and she scored a couple goals!

No no Mrs J, read the next post. the bah humbuug was due to pathetic computer skills, but, as the next post details, I have had the Clubman since last Thursday.
Thanks for the concern
