If for some reason they don't have them or are being difficult, let me know and I'll send you my spare pair. I really don't think I'll ever need the second set.

Has anyone else had this problem?
It is worth using the velcro patches with the threaded back. They work really well, and they are easy to put in with a screwdriver. Just put them in the rear corner of the carpet about one inch out, each way. Let brad send you his spares if the dealer doesn't have them, but I bet the dealer would slip them into an envelope for you.

My dealer installed the velcro on the driver side for my factory carpet mats and I have had no problems. I would not recommend super glue at all costs--will ruin the carpet. The factor velcro, as the guys indicated, will screw into the carpet and not leave a mess. They should have put them in the driver side for you at least--slippery mays are a hazard when you drive.

I have decided to put in oil pressure and water temperature gauges. I have bought the housings from Cravenspeed because I like the aluminum better than the plastic. I will post pictures, but it will probably be a while..other things interfere.

I have been having a problem lately with the display. I can no longer see the whole line at once. It has gone all wide. Does anyone else have this problem? Did I do something wrong? I can't seem to fix it. Thanks.

You know, just today I was lamenting the fact that there is not any temperature display for this car. Hard to believe that in that particular bit of instrumentation my 40-year old car is ahead.

Did you get the gauges from Cravenspeed as well? Thanks,

Brad

PS No clue what's going on with your display. Sorry I can't be of any help there.

Brad, SRTech, at "Custom Mini Shop" is getting a group buy for Marshall gauges. Here is a link. Just click on the blue arrow after his name:

The price on the stepper motor gauges is not set yet, but they should be available when the MINI SCX are ready. PM me if you are interested.

Craven doesn't sell gauges. They suggested I look at Marshall. I looked at Prosport and Marshall. http://www.marshallinstruments.com/c...scx_silver.cfm and I liked the look of the Marshall better, even though they cost more. I haven't seen them in my hand, so I may change my tune. They both heve amber and white backlighting, but the Marshall has a bezel that Marshall says matches the original pretty well. You have to call them, but they are easy to talk to.

I saw that post. Unfortunately, I ordered late last week, so I can't join the fun.

No, I did get my plates, but they came two days late. Have you called your dealership? They were as baffled as I was that it took my plates so long to get here.

I guess this would be different from state to state. In California, it takes 6-8 weeks to get plates and they come directly through the mail from the DMV. I kinda like the paper plates--shows everyone she is still new

Mine came in the mail yesterday. This weekend I'll put them on and quit providing free advertising for the dealership!

We transferred plates from the old car. The dealer took care of registration and title paperwork. Ohio gives you 30 days. All the new paperwork was delivered in 3 weeks.

Yeah, but aren't you less likely to be pulled over if you don't have plates yet?

Or is this an urban legend (or something I made up in my head)?

A question for those of us Week 19ers who financed through MINI Financial:

Have you received your first payment bill yet?

It's been almost a month and I'm beginning to worry that they accidentally gave me the car!!!

In Texas, you only get 21 days from the day of purchase before you are supposed to get your tags on. My best friend's dad used to work for various dealerships and it turns out that I could have gotten a ticket for having expired paper plates. My feeling is that it's not my fault that DMV is slow. Anyway, I miss the paper plates too.

SteelersFan, have you registered on the Owner's Lounge? Call the dealership and see what they say. All I know is that we agreed that my first payment would be due on the first of every month. Do you recall what y'all had agreed upon?

Oh, and only 400 more miles to go before the end of the break-in period! Yay!

I am a member of the Owner's Lounge but as of right now this is the only indication of me having a loan from them:
Our records show that one or more of your MINI vehicles is financed with MINI Financial Services. If you would like to take advantage of the online account information and financial tools available through Owners' Lounge, please enter your MINI Financial Services Account number, your Social Security Number, and click on the "Add" button.
The dealer didn't mention anything about the loan when I signed the papers so no first payment date was agreed upon. I assume I will get something in the mail soon. I don't want to have any credit issues from not receiving my payment instructions. I suppose I will give them a call if nothing shows up in the next several days.

BTW, I've only got 375 miles to go before "Lift-off"!!!

Funny you would bring that up. I have a neighbor who subscribes to this theory, and carries his plates in the trunk (with stickers) while leaving the cardboard dealer "plate" on the car.

Problem is, the car is four years old and the black cardboard has faded to a dingy grey. I really don't think he's dodging tickets that way. In fact, I'd bet he's attracting additional attention and is likely eligible for a ticket for failure to display a plate.

I'm guessing it's about as much protection against tickets as the commonly-seen "KMA-367" license plate frame.

Yeah, I don't think I have the guts to go four months let alone 4 years before putting on the real plates. Although, I knew someone who went at least 4 years. I think this is where I came up with the theory in the first place. Not sure why or if he attracted attention eventually but I bet he did because his paper dealer plates were very faded and dingy.

I just went back into the owners lounge and all of your financial information, including the amount of your payment and when it is due should be there. You may have to answer a few new questions, as they just updated the site. I also signed up for paperless invoices (via email instead).

I just looked around the OL site and only find the page (Profile) that will allow me to enter my Loan Account Number and SSN but the problem is I don't have the account number yet.

Is there another section of the OL I should be looking in?

Okay, you will all get a kick out of this.

Last night my wife had book club and some other errands to run when I got home. I told her to take the Clubman, which of course she did.

When she got home I asked her how she liked driving it (remember, her normal ride is a 2003 Odyssey). The main quote:

"Why are there so many cops around when I'm driving this car? I want to go fast!"

"Wow this thing can corner!"

Lol, I'm with your wife. The cops in my area are not at all fun so I have to keep a very close eye on the speedo. The corners aren't so much of an issue, but I wouldn't put it past them to try and give me a ticket for reckless endangerment for taking the corners too fast.

SteelersFan, I didn't know my Account number either until I got my first statement. How long has it been since you signed all of the paperwork for your car?
