There is a Week 50 and I'm IT

See the new thread "Totally Disappointed" in General MINI; apparently customers here in the UK get the leftovers...

Given the rate that sales have fallen, that the factory is closing for 4 weeks instead of 2 and 200+ temp employees were let go, is there anyone out there who wouldn't be concerned about the quaility and workmanship of the last car off the line?

OldLoad, I am so sorry to hear what happened . Sounds like MINI needs to do something about the US spec ones they sell in Europe. You are the third person to have a problem with this sort of thing. Although, yours is worse than what happened to David and I.

I do worry about the quality with all layoffs and early closings; but, the good thing being that any problems found can bee corrected. Hopefully

If, I'm not to busy motoring I will give everyone a full run down of my pickup tomorrow. The only thing that mars my pick-up is the fact that I have a sinus infection and have been home sick for the last couple of days.

The car won't be delivered until Friday to Darmstadt so it will be preped and inspected in the AM. They sent it to Darmstadt because Mannheim has a 3-4 day wait for prep and inspection... (at least they made a decision with my happiness in mind) Can you believe it will take 3 days from Riedstadt to Darmstadt BMW... That is only 14km...

No, but someone still has to pay for the transportation from Mannheim to Darmstadt. Your not paying for it so BMW will have to.

It is not in Mannhiem. Riedstadt is where it ended up (10Km from Dagger). I think the company has a contract with BMW.

Hello! Welcome to the group.

Sound like a nice JCW. If my wife and I would have decided to go with the MCS, we would have bought Laser Blue, too.

BTW, totally off topic, but I wonder why they don't offer any JCW-only colors? Seems like that would be cool. I don't know what they would be, but yeah.

Yikes... I guess a little less than 2 months isn't too bad, then ... and it would have been only about a month, but I wanted the Sport Package (DTC). I'm sure that was a big contributor to your wait, too.

SHE'S HOME!!!

Alright, I have DISCS in hand

What a beautiful car; I can't stop grinning or staring at her. Its so hard to leave her parked somewhere I'm so happy This black is so pretty, it looks like a true black with a hint of metallic to it; IMHO MINI did a much better job with the Midnight black than they did on the Astro black. It's going to be a PIMA to keep clean though, and of course it started raining on my way home. I picked her up with 2 miles on the clock and now she has 50

Enjoy the MINI ****

Awesome! Congrats!

I can't wait until we're doing the same thing in a couple weeks. I'm thinking we'll put around 1500 miles on it in the first 8 days!

That's pretty much ridiculous

Is that really the closest dealer? Or are you taking the scenic route?

Actually, the closest dealer is 300 miles, the one I used is 375 miles, but I need to detour to Seattle to pick up some race wheels and tires, so apprx 475 miles, maybe more...

It was almost painful last night driving home to treat her gentle and not go over 4000 RPM. Or do anything to crazy around and corners. Good luck
