Just got my VIN today :D

 

Hi everyone. I received my vis for out new MINI's about 4 days ago. Our cars are scheduled to be producted Monday Dec. 1.

How are you guys getting the numbers that I see spoken about? Are you using the automated ASKMINI system or are you actually talking to someone at ASKMKINI?

The best I have been able to get is our vin# off the owners lounge and a production date.

Being in Washington I doubt that our cars will get to Northwest MINI before the end of December or the first of January. That my friends is going to be a long, long wait.

You can get the numbers and what not from your MA, or by calling AskMINI and asking what your production code is.

At least you didn't have to wait since July or September like some of us.

 

I just checked the OL and still no VIN on mine there yet.
Maybe I'll try ask mini again. I've only called them once, about 10 days ago.

WOOT! I just called and was told it is in production with a scheduled completion date of 12/03 and they gave me my VIN!

Oh, I called my ins. company today and found that my ins is going to drop $400/year with the new Mini vs. my '05 Subaru. And the gas mileage will double. She's really going to be helping to earn her keep!

 

THAT is sweet. Mine's going up $90/yr from my 08 MC.

Estimated completion date of 12/02/08.

 

My VIN appeared on OL today. I talked to ASKMINI and was told it went into production on 11/27 and is expected to complete production on 12/04.

 

Two more days until scheduled completion. It will be a long 21 day sail across the pond.

I feel for those who wait 3+ months for delivery.

 

where do you find the vin within the owner's lounge?

my order shows as awaiting transport. wonder if it'll get to my dealership before the end of this year. thoughts anyone?

 

"Review Order Details" ..or something like that. Should show your VIN.

 

If you live on the East Coast, Yes. If you live on the West Coast mostly likely No. If you live in the middle then it depends on what port they are dropping you car off.

 

Anybody notice that the "Track your MINI" page lists your car as a "4 Door Sedan"?

Looks like I'm in production with a completion date of Dec 4th, so week 49 it is!

Or, am I wrong on that and it's not by completion date but by inception date???

If he lives on the West Coast why not before the end of the year? A lot a ships land in California then they truck the cars.

Anybody ordering an '09 with DTC and/or Sport Package, I believe week 49 is the first week for this option, and I'd like to gather a little info on cars with this option. If you get a chance, check out this thread...

I have 2 cars on order. You can see them in my sig. Both are MCS. We both have DTC on our cars. We are week 49 buiilds. I have the VIN's and the phone call says they are in the paint shop. Don't know exactly what that means but I am hopefull they will be completed shortly and sent to the docks.

Did you actually talk to someone, or just get the automated update?

Because I just called and got the automated update and it said "Paint Shop", but my wife called and talked to them and they said it was put on a transport to the port as of yesterday!

So, our Week 49 MINI was sent to the dock on Nov. 30!

I'm now hopeful it will make it before Christmas!

 

Im in the paint shop! Not sure if they can paint AND assemble by tomorrow's due date..but lets hope so.

 

Donkey has been built and is in transport! It will be here this week!

 

It takes a ship about 8 days to leave the UK and drop it off on the East Coast. It takes about 21 days for it to drop it on the West Coast. So if it leaves port today bound for CA it would get there on about the 22nd, it takes a few days to go though the VPC so with Christmas it will probably be delayed a few days. Maybe gets out of there on the 27th. Then depending on where the car is going could be a day or two of travel. Then the dealership needs to do a Pre-Delivery Inspection so a day or two for that. After all of that you will be into the new year.

I called ASK MINI tonight and mine is now listed as in the body shop, heading to the paint shop. Still has an anticipated completion date of 12/3.

 

mine shows as arrived at port of exit. so it looks like at this point ask mini can no longer assist. just have to wait for selection for shipment carrier. hopefully this won't too long and will get to california around christmas!
