Our MINI is officially "in production" as of yesterday morning at 9:29am!

I'm hoping she shows up in time for Christmas, but we'll see. We're already planning a trip to the Dragon over New Years to break her in properly :D

 

Woot! Got my vin! I will probably be taking the check to the dealer Monday or Tuesday!
Delivery date is still set for week 51 but maybe they will have them out sooner.

 

nice. im in california and my dealer is telling me first week of january 2009 to be safe. anyone else order in CA hear it will come before that?

Happy for you..... See, told you it wouldn't take to long..... From talking with the different MA's it seems like MINI will go ahead and produce our cars early. Even with the sports package, they are just trying to get all their orders out before they close on the 7th of December.

As of last Thursday, Ivory hadn't gotten his VIN yet.

 

Yeah, they're obviously not waiting until the first week of Dec. to start building Sport Package cars since your car and my car started building ~10 days before that.

I commend MINI for trying to get as many cars through as possible

150 as of the 20th!!!

 

Mine was the 19th . Although from what I understand, 150 means that the VIN is assigned, and that the car really hasn't started to build until you get a code 151. That's what a couple of different MA's have told me. I emailed mine this morning, but he won't get it till tomorrow. Hopefully, I will have something different to report then . Should be interesting to see when we actually get our cars considering how quickly we have moved along. I just hope with the mad rush to get our cars out in time that QC doesn't go out the window

I still just think that the 150 just means that the VIN has been assigned.... Cuz, our cars should move to a 151 about a week after the 150 has been given.... Watching the production video, it seams to me that our cars don't become our cars till they go through the paint shop. That's probably around the same time that they put the VIN on the car. But, I don't know for certain and thats just my theory.... We should call askmini and see what they say

 

Yeah, I'm really hoping we get ours before Christmas... or at LEAST in time for the road trip to the dragon that we have planned over New Years :D

Crossing my fingers it gets built before the shutdown. Ordered yesterday..just modified one of the dealer's existing orders.

Not anymore, used to live in Roseville a few years ago.

 

So when my car stated production last week I though that I might be done before my estimated completion date of 10/25. But then it stayed at the "Paint Shop" for 4 days. Which seems excessive as the MINI website says it takes 10 hours.
But it has now moved on to assembly and seems as though it will finish right on time.
My production stated on Wednesday of last week; so i guess that makes me production week 48.5.

Just thought of something funny....... It would seam rather appropriate for the plant to hold all of our DTC MINIs so that they don't finish production till the 1st of December. Then finish production on them the 1st and ship them out, just so they don't lose face about not building the DTC until December

 

Personally, I wouldn't think less of them if they completed our DTC cars ahead of schedule

BTW, my car has been in production since the 20th, but according to ASK MINI there have been no official updates since. So, I asked if I could get the status code, and the guy told me that they aren't supposed to give those out . But, he did say "it's probably further along than what the latest update says." So, I don't know if that means exactly what it says... that it's PROBABLY further along and he doesn't know... OR does it mean he's looking at the status code and it says it's further along, but he's not supposed to give me that. I don't know.

I'm probably thinking too deeply about what the ASK MINI guy *really* means.
