Popped into the dealer unexpectedly since he STILL hadn't even phone to tell me my MINI had arrived.

So I told him I found the car for myself, and he got me to meet the sales director, she approved my credit application and set up my delivery date for FRIDAY

 

Way to go! Awesome news

And it's pretty funny that you had to tell them it was there. Yeah the one with Rush on it! ha ha ha....

 

Okay.... I gotta ask you guys for your advice. I've been a butthead fuming over my car not being ready for delivery for another week and I wanted to ask you this -

What should I do? The car is going to take 20 day-ish to go from the port to me, part of that's my fault because I can only pick it up on the weekend, but part of it is because it is still in brunswick and it's in a black hole.+

So....

should I get over it and be happy knowing that my car will be here in less
than two weeks?

or

should I contact the dealership and ask why it takes the same amount of
time to build and ship the car as it is to add driving lights and sport
stripe, and to deliver it 200 miles?

or

insert your own idea....


Personally I want to apologize for being frustrated and dragging down our amazing thread. I told reyd that I'm not mad at the dealership but at the distribution center. It's just that after all this time my neurosis was kicking in and I expected murphy to rise his ugly head - which it did. I just want my darn car!

Your thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Joe, what I did was stalk the car but be polite at all times. I bet you it is the driving lights holding it up at VDC and that they need 18 cars, that it got backed up..... Hmmm.... Be assertive but nice at the same time.... I've been calling for updates almost daily....

 

Hmmmm just checked the order tracking and it says estimated delivery date is 6/19 when I review my order detail....

I would phone them and ask why it is taking so long, and maybe tell them you would really like it to be put on the priority list and get to you faster. Maybe they could do something for you. *shrugs*

I don't know how the whole VDC thing works, but maybe the dealer could phone them and let them know to put it at the top of the list.

I personally, would phone and keep asking for updates (i emailed the dealer almost every day the past week to get answers), mind you the emails didn't seem to help me, but sometimes if you are the "squeaky wheel" you may get the "grease" so to speak

Thanks to both of you and reyd, I'm gonna shoot off an email tonight. Try to be firm and let them know I don't understand why it's taking so long.

Joep, I've been killing 'em with kindness and that has helped I think. (I'm also one of those people that firmly believes in the power of our thoughts--I was told I'd have my car by the end of July. I never once considered that, because I wanted my car for my Bday July 2nd. So I just focused on getting her by then. Miraculously, it happened. You can call me a nut if ya want, but this much I know is true!)

I know you are really frustrated, so when you call them, keep that anger/frustration out of it. Just keep calling with a happy tone, and say you're checking to see the status of your car, you're dyin to get her, etc.

Then get rid of those "Murphy's law" thoughts and start believing you'll have her this weekend!

thANKS Lady G! I bought mine for my birthday in July too! That's why I'm sending her straight to the paint shop, I don't want to drive her until then. I'm gonna go crazy, my bdays the 17th.

 

Still premature on my Clubman. The sales manager thought it might come to the dealership today...but no call yet. Then still a day to prep it.

The waiting is hard.

Picked up my car today! 400KM drive back from Toronto. Loved the whole trip! The car is amazing to drive! AHHHH, I'm so excited.

I don't have a name for mine yet.... It's going to be all BRG with a chrome scoop.... The alien from Alien/Alienz comes to mind.. All greenish with a chrome mouth, but you can't make a good name out of it.
