Thanks owg for the info.

Where do you get the vin? Owners lounge or askmini? I just called again and all he had for me was the same info. How do I track it through production?
Owners lounge is where i found my VIN.

Nothing is going to help except taking delivery. But welcome to the Order of the Dispossessed. You can generally identify us by the decrease in productivity and our continued request for someone to explain how I was week X and now I'am week Y.

I'm a little concerned... It does say it's LHD though, so at least I won't be getting a RHD car...

In my searches - hitting primaraly BMW user sites I have found a lot of ECE's in the states. Kind of points to some wonkiness in the decriptor.

edit: does the vin look weird to anyone else? I'm used to seeing mostly numbers, but there are a lot of letters.
Yes, production started on the 31st!!!

I think that the info from the decoder site is not entirely accurate (sorry OWG, hardly your fault ). Mine comes up as a MINI One, which of course isn't even sold here, but the full VIN plugged into my auto insurer's website pulls it up as a 2008 MCS. Go figure.

yea, I'm finding the same info... seems like the decoder isn't 100%...

I haven't gotten insurance for my car yet, that's coming later this month... so I haven't checked that route yet.

I'm not too concerned about it. Those ship captains know what they're doing. It might be delayed a day or two because they need to route around a hurricane, but it won't be anything serious. I've been on a cruise in the Caribbean when a hurricane rolled through. No big deal. We just changed our route, took an extra 7-8 hours or something to get to our next port.

Thought that I'd make my official post here for Week 23! We have an '08 MC on order through Ralph Schomp in Colorado on May 21st. Spoke with ASK-MINI this afternoon and was informed production actually began on 05/28, it's in the body shop today (06/02) with expected completion on Wednesday 06/04. It's an Oxygen Blue/Black top and mirrors with Cold Weather and Premium packages, DSC, auto transmission and sport seats with Carbon Black Checkered cloth.

I'm soooo excited... but likely not any more than the rest of you here! Looks as though her name will be BitZ. Now to put the thinking cap on for some vanity plate possibilities.

Anyone else worried that you call ASK-MINI way too much?

So I just called and my Clubman is COMPLETE!!!!!

They said that it hasn't left for the port yet so they better hurry up so I can make the June 4th boat!

He also mentioned that once it leaves for the port that they can no longer track the car or tell you what ship it was loaded onto that you have to get all the info from your dealer... I guess I didn't realize that even with all the info I posted yesterday.

Well heres to the next 21+ days until my baby arrives in Cali!

Oh and I think they do work on the weekend because there would be no way my car could get completed in one day (I dont think can it???) Friday it was in the paint shop and if you watch the time-lapse video of how they are made in the OL the paintshop is like step 4 and the car isn't even really started being put together yet. I also saw in that section that they have people working in 3 shifts, so it sounds like they work around the clock... All for the love of the MINI!

(PS.... The OL is not up to date yet, I have heard that once the car is complete it takes 24 hours for the OL to show that change, but for kicks I am going to continue checking the ship tracking with my VIN to see when it is registered on a ship. I'll keep you posted!)

Arrrgg! I just spoke with "Jennifer" at ASK MINI and she told me it takes an average of 7 days to get from the factory to the ship! 7 days! That blows me out of the water for both the PATRIOT and the MIGNON! I'm definitely calling back tomorrow for a second opinion!

P.S. A tricky bunch, they knew my name based on the caller id number that comes up from my office (even though it is titled to my company). They know when we're calling too often!

The guy told me it only takes a day, two at the most! Let's hope my guy is right and "Jennifer" was wrong!!!! I really want to make the June 4th boat so I understand how you feel!

I ordered on May 26 and was told my MCS was to be assembled in week 24. I just found out today it's being assembled on June 6, the last day of week 23.

I was just doing so further reading to help curb my excitement... If you are in the OL and click on the "Online Tour of MINI Manufacturing With Production Video" Once your in to the main screen on the right there is "Key Facts" At the bottom it says "Ground breaking new agreements (working times in principle: 24 hours, 7 days a week) enable MINI manufacturing to react in the most flexible manner to customer requirements"

So I guess that answer's that question!

You guys are killing me!

I don't want to call and talk to anyone, because the one time I did call, they acted like I was the only one who ever called and asked what was up with their MINI order.

I kind of feel like this whole waiting process is a big set up! They are asking for us to be excited about the impending arrival, or they wouldn't call it the "birth canal" for heaven's sakes! They also wouldn't have an owners lounge website to check the progress, or a production status option on 866-ASK-MINI.

I almost don't want to know what is happening. I don't want to get disappointed with "perceived" extra days being added onto my wait time. That already happened when my MA told me I wasn't scheduled until the 3rd week of June, after ordering on 5/13. Especially when so many are talking about their Clubmans getting through in such a short time.

Although the e-mail from my MA stating that it went into production on 5/30 really did make me do a happy dance.

I can't win. . . the waiting . . . is. . . terrible! I guess I'm off to call ASK-MINI now! LOL!

As far as i am concerned, ASK mini wouldn't have been set up if you wernt meant to call them.

I limit my calls to once a day now. It was twice a week. I havnt had anyone rude to me yet.

I call BS on 7 days from completion to hopping on the ship.

Anyone else read in the other weeks posts about getting the amount of time. I know some of it has to do with departure, but 7 days?? no way!

I was hoping that mine being done on the 5th would make the 6th departure boat.. *sigh
