Week 23 2008 Support Group
If you call 1-866-ASK-MINI and talk to a person, they can tell you where in the production process you are (i.e. body shop, paint ship, final assembly, etc). Once production is complete the last step the 866 number can help with is to tell you when the car arrives at the port for shipping. Past that they don't really have info. If your dealer is helpful, give them a call. You can also check the "How to Track Your MINI thread" on NAM at https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=70301
Lots of good info in that thread!

As far as i am concerned, ASK mini wouldn't have been set up if you wernt meant to call them.
I limit my calls to once a day now. It was twice a week. I havnt had anyone rude to me yet.
I call BS on 7 days from completion to hopping on the ship.
Anyone else read in the other weeks posts about getting the amount of time. I know some of it has to do with departure, but 7 days?? no way!
I was hoping that mine being done on the 5th would make the 6th departure boat.. *sigh

Anything is possible but I also have read that some people thought that their MINI was on one boat, or they missed the next boat etc when their MINI was almost to the states on a completely different boat. It's hard to know what is true and who is right -- we just can't really believe people 100%. The only thing we really can count on is when our dealer calls and says it's time to come in and bring your MINI home! (Gosh I can't wait for that day!)

And yes, I believe there is a rail link to the port- no good German engineer would design a factory without one. I think someone at ASK-MINI is trying to cover their ...
My personal timing seems to be off every time I call. I called today and was told that I went into the paint shop yesterday (Sunday? Then I asked if they work on Sundays and he said no....kind of makes you think) and that it was (hopefully still is) set to be completed tomorrow on June 3rd. Either way I doubt I'll make the boat on the 5th or 6th but the Mignon on 10th is a more likely candidate....
I realized today that realistically it doesn't matter what I'm told. It'll get here when it gets here and that's that!

Hey guys - I need some serious help, as I don't have a strong connection yet with my Mini. I'm totally lost!! I'm pretty sure I belong to week 23, but not sure-for-sure.
I'm in the unfortunate position of living in Canada (don't get me wrong - the living here part is great!) and thus don't have the ability to track my own Mini
. I understand that only my dealer is able to give me updates, but he's not being as detailed as the info you guys are all getting.
So here's the info I have so far, if someone can help me decipher this, I would be eternally grateful!
1. I ordered the car on May 21. I was supposed to get one off the lot, but the dealer screwed up and it was sold to someone else. So he said he'd put the order in as a 'rush'. He said it would likely be ready for pick-up mid to end of July.
2. I called him on May 27 (last Tues) and he told me that it was 'in production'. I mentioned that it seemed quick, and he said it was... that it probably will be ready early July.
3. I called him again this afternoon (June 2) and he told me that it was still in production. He said production takes around 1-2 weeks. This sounds wierd to me, as it sounds like everyone else's production is much for swift. So how long does production actually take, from beginning to end? He wouldn't be specific on where in production it was. Is it possible that his automated system is slow to update??
4. I asked him for a VIN, and he said that it wasn't yet available. From what I've read on this board, the VIN becomes available before production even begins. Is this always the case, or did I mix something up?
So last week, I was really excited thinking the process would be quicker than expected. Now I'm wondering what really is going on. Am I really a Week 23 Support Group belonger, or am I lost somewhere in Limbo?
Man, this is harder than I expected...

as far as i know, production takes a week, it takes a few days after production starts for the vin to be assigned. Your MA might have told you 1-2 weeks to account for the time to leave the UK from the dock.
McEnvy, sounds to me like you are caught up as I am... Mine started production on the same day May 27, and I was told that it should be complete tomorrow June 3rd. I was told by my MA I should receive it by first or second week of July... hoping for sooner then later of course. Hope this helps.
Sit back and wait now....

Gemgirlpa, my Clubman S also started its build last Tuesday, the 27th with a completion date for tomorrow (8 days). I called this morning and was informed it was in the paint shop and completion was still on track for tomorrow. So we are kinda tracking each other. He also said it only takes a few days for it to get to the port. Mine is supposed to come in to NY.

Just happy that I found the right support group before I started going insane
i think someone posted a while back that they dont open until 9am EST...
Well, I guess really we should be happy that we get any sort of news on status. even though the info could be way off..
Back in 1999 I bought my first brand new car. It was a 2000 ford ranger, and I did an order so i got all the options I wanted. I had to wait 6 weeks and had no clue where it was. The dealer actually told me 8 weeks, but it came in 6. At that time being my first car out of college, it was just as agonizing..
It does stink that with today's technology we cant have this down to watching live web cam feeds of our actual cars, but hey I will take what I can get..
Even if it the info is wrong, I still like venting with the rest of you folks who feel my pain. lol

. When you order an American car, the same model gets built over and over again, so they have no idea where who's car is. I think it's better now, but the manufacturing process is not nearly as flexible as the Japanese or European's.Personally, I think the fact that they have a number you can call 10 times a day and get such detailed information is phenomenal. I was shocked to hear about it. Pleasantly shocked, that it.
I'm going to be the last person in this group to get their car!!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha....
I;m just so excited to get her and get her new shoes on and her graphics and everything!!!! I need to name her though. I have to idea for a name...
