I'd do a grill badge. I know Metroplex Mini uses Cooper Flags (http://www.cooperflags.com/Index.cfm ) here in DFW to make most of our badges, and I think a group buy equals out to about $5 each including shipping.

mrmrsjackson- too bad you haven't sold the Tahoe but perhaps a last minute sale??? Anything over trade-in would be good. Either way, at least when you trade it in you won't have to worry about it anymore and the joy from your MINI will deminish any trade-in woes anyway.

You are so right! It was just exciting to think that we were going to get it sold and not take it in the shorts on the trade. My wife and I are fully prepared to take it in the shorts but for those few days, we thought that it was gone. Oh well! As far as throwing back a cold one with you guys, it would be an absolute pleasure to do so. The wife and I already have our reservations for MOTD next year and by then, her week 34 build will be here(can you beleive I am going to do this all over again?) In any event, spoke with my MA today. He had forgotten to add the bonnet stripes to Sneaker but assured me that they would be put on at the dealer. He is a VERY nice guy but considering his livelyhood, let's just say that it is good that these cars sell themselves! Sneaker should be at the dealer next week and the wife and I will be rid of the Tahoe and motoring on the afternoon of the 14th. The first official drive I think will be to Isle of Palms! And keep those fingers crossed. I am going to post on Craigs list once more and try to make that last minute sale!

Once again, I won't do a grill badge (don't want the visual clutter or minor airflow obstruction/turbulence) but I would love to have a W23 grill badge and wear it as a belt buckle to a MINI track event. Now that would be stylin'. I'm serious as a heart attack.

A grill badge would be very neat as that could be put on just for events. As far as specific ideas for one, I'm not a graphic designer to do it, but what about the MINI wings logo everyone is getting when they take delivery with Proud Week 23 Member circling around the edges or similar?

suddenly... it's here!

Talked to the MA at noon. Zonker is here (well, there). She is trying to get it through service so I can pick up (and pay for) Zonker tonight. I actually believe this as today is the last day of the month and end of the quarter, car dealers generally make the effort to push the sales into the current period as possible. Hoping that I will be tooling aroudn yet today!

Very nice. . . and it needs to include 2008 or 08 since there have been other week 23s, but never one as good as this!!!

And speaking of wings, when do I get mine? I'm waiting!

Is the service dept closed on Saturday as well? Most are...bummer!

Waldo arrived at the Charleston VDC on 6/26 and was scheduled to arrive to the dealership in St Louis today 6/29. That's about 860 miles and took 3-4 days including time at the VDC (Waldo had nothing installed there, so he probably flowed right through).

How far is it from your VDC to your dealer? Maybe Dutchess will make it to your dealer on Friday (they were to be unloading Waldo today even though the dealer is closed), and then they could get your stuff installed on Saturday? If not...are you at least close enough to go visit her in the "nursery" before you bring her home? Unfortunately I'm 200 miles away so I can't go see Waldo until the day I'm bringing him home.
It's ok, I looked at my calendar and was like "sh**t!"

But GOOD NEWS!!!!!!

My MA emailed me this morning: "Your MINI is here already! It just got off the truck. I just talked with the service department for scheduling; how does Thursday afternoon work for you?"

YAY!!!! (That was really fast!) So now only 3 more days! My dealer is about 30-45 minutes away so I will be driving down tonight to sneak a peek... lol

(Oh and Service is open on Saturday's here, which is nice for me so I don't have to get down there in rush hour on the weekdays before it closes)

With my experience you have to request a MINI loaner so they can schedule it with the few that they have, otherwise you will always get a Focus....

Well it really did happen... my car really was on the wrong boat and taken to the wrong port. Aparently my MA doesn't know how this happened but it was supposed to go to South Carolina not NJ and it has been sitting in NJ VDC for 10 days= the wrong PORT- and no one noticed until my insecent calling to my MA each day when he finally realized something was up - now I have to wait to hear back on how they are going to get it from NJ to Ohio. I can't see a truck taking ONE car all the way. MA knows I am upset. I am now crying over my first new car experience instead of being excited. Very frustrating. Now I don't have a ride 3 hours to Ohio since my parents had offered to take me but they leave Wed. (I was originally supposed to have my car by now) and am missing out on the big 4th July family vacation because I don't have it yet. Sorry but I needed to vent. My MA said worst case senerio, he would have someone DRIVE it to me at home - but then it kind of defeats the new car experience as it would then have 300+ miles on it.

Still don't know when or how I am going to get it anyway.

Sorry again to vent. Everything has gone smooth with my car until now. 6+ weeks is a long time to patiently wait to have your car "misplaced." I really am happy and enjoy hearing about everyone get their cars.

I am sorry to hear about your bad news. Everything will work itself out. Chin up...much easier for me to say than for you to do.

I'm sorry!!! How the h**l does that happen! Well don't stop calling and kicking and screaming about it, the sqeaky wheel always gets greased! They need to come up with something more creative, like tell them they CAN NOT put ANY miles on your car, they should have to FLAT BED it to you... And tell them they better act quick! Don't give up, the more you call and act like a headache to the dealer the faster they will want to stop hearing from you and fix the situation.

Have you talked to the manager yet? You may also want to talk to the GM, tell them you need a rental car (FOR FREE!) so you can go on vacation with your family. And you need a taxi (also for free) to take you 3 hours to the dealer! (it's the least they can do!)

Don't give up and don't go quietly!!

Thanks Seattle. I appreciate your advice and even if this isn't entirely the dealers fault, they really should do something. My MA IS the sales manager.... no I haven't spoken to the GM.

The whole thing is just upseting as this was my first car (new) buying experience and from a dealer peroid. It just isn't going as "planned" but everything happens for a reason. Everything will work out I am sure, and no, I won't be quiet.

Everything does happen for a reason, but still this is not a good experience and something made the car go to the wrong place, regardless of whose fault it is your dealer owns the car so they are responsible...

I'm sorry your first experience isn't going so great as of now, that really does suck! Let us know when you need to vent again, we are here for you!!!

Sorry to hear it. Under no circumstances allow them to drive it out. That is unacceptable. They should have it transported without further delay.

My MINI MCS is in. It arrived today according to my MA. They have to install the JCW strut brace and the rear bumper tailgate protector thing. I can pick it up Thursday morning. I am very, very, very, very calm, and will keep telling myself that, especially because I am in Idaho and don’t get back to Chicago (Knauz MINI in Lake Bluff, IL) until Wednesday afternoon so there is little I can do. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
