Week 23 2008 Support Group
Second or third weeks are weeks 24 and 25 respectively. Yikes.
I know right!!!
I am just repeating what the guy said. He said all he sees in the computer is scheduled for week 23.
Then he added "should be 2nd or 3rd week of june".
I wont get too wrapped up yet... He could have just guessed incorrectly.
Week 23 is next week or 1st week of june?

And even at that, I know I'm fortunate to have just ordered last week and to be in the same week as folks on here that ordered WEEKS before me, but it's all a matter of perception. I would have MUCH rather her said "10 weeks" and got it in 8, instead of hearing "6 weeks" and getting it in 8! (of course had she SAID "10 weeks" I would have ordered from the Chicago dealer and not the St Louis dealer!)
OK, I'm done venting!
I've decided that "what's done is done", and there's probably nothing that can be done tio impact the date favorably, so now I'm going to do my best to put it all behind me, sit back and ENJOY the anticipation of my FUN NEW CAR!!!!
So thanks again for letting me vent....I promise not to bring the group down any more!

So this far out, how often are you calling for order status? Daily? Every other day? Five times a day?
I did talk to a really nice guy today at ASK-MINI ("Jim") He said something that's probably occurred to all of us..."before I took this job (or in our case, ordered this car), I never thought about 'what week number is it'. Now that's all I hear"!

I was, according to Ask MINI, a Week 22, so I was settling in with the fine folks of Week 22, but when my husband called today, he was told that we were moved back to Week 23 - it looks like everyone else who has had their week changed moved UP, but not me!
However, this looks like a swell group with whom to share the wait!
We put in our official order on April 19th and at that time our dealer estimated delivery the first week of July.
I keep checking the Owner's Lounge, coming to the NAM forum; I feel like Ralphie in A Christmas Story; checking the mailbox day after day; looking for his Little Orphan Annie Decoder Ring.

The strength of your group was what inspired me to start the Week 22 group! I see that I even have potential neighbors in OWG and MINIspud. So, I'll see what happens.

right now I am calling once a week, since we are so far out.
Im sure that will change once the car is born and waiting to get on a boat.
haha

But, seriously - unless Murphy choses to intervene, my notional time line is thus:
From what I have been able to gleen for the other build week support groups, the build takes 6 days, 10 days to get on a ship, 9 days in transit, 5 days from the NYCVDC to a DC area dealer.
Assume that Maxwell is the LAST week 23 vehicle, the build starts on the 8th of June. The build should be done on the 13th, and be on a ship on the 23d. Arrival in NY on the 2d of July, and on my dealers lot on the 11th. This assumes that he does not get dinged, scratched or any other bad thing in shipping.

OWG- you have it down to a fine science! I have a feeling mine will get here the 2nd week of july. Then its suppose to get the venture shield installed.
I hope it isn't ready during the week.do dealers normally let you have a few days to pick it up? My dealership is about an hour and half away.

ok I need my support group.... I'm having dreams of driving my MINI and have a long wait to go! I really don't want to wish the whole entire month of June away, but hurry up already!!!!
I see other MINI's on the road and I want to wave but I'm still driving my Jeep!

Bad things do happen.
Sometimes cars suffer damage in shipping. This new 5 is getting ready to go to paint. The interior has been stripped and the windows on the side being painted have been removed.
If the car suffers damage in excess of 3% of it's value it has to be disclosed to the dealer. As I understand it, if BMW replaced the engine in your car at the VDC, that would not have to be disclosed to the dealer. This is because all BMW parts are being used and installed to BMW spec. However, repaired body damage (something on the order of the MINI's roof, not like a replaced bumper cover) would be declared to the dealer.

Another BMW waiting to be repaired to BMW specifications.

This MINI was on the lower level of a transport truck. The shipper lowered the upper deck and crushed the roof. BMW has replaced the roof and the car will soon visit the paint shop.
