Week 23 2008 Support Group
ASK MINI confirmed my Clubman started production yesterday, so I'm officially week 21. While I'm sorry I'm not in this fine group, I know you'll be great company and support for each other. It's nail biting time!!
Sign me up!
Ordered my dark silver/black S last week with Tom Bush mini Jacksonville fl. They were super nice. Even stayed late on a Friday night so I could sign the papers in person. I'm scheduled for week 23! My first brand new car! I feel so lucky!

CONGRATS!!! AND WELCOME TO THE GROUP!
Congrats, also !
Congrats !
Dark Silver/white top was my second color choice, but my existing ride is dark blue, so I passed.
Gemgirlpa, we make it back East several times a year, but don't go east of Pittsburgh. Think we'll wait until the new MINI is broke in before we use it to take the 12 hour drive, maybe in the late fall. Wife is tired of airports/airfare prices

2 weeks earlier!
Hello all,
I was in the Week 23 group and called today for my weekly fix, oops I mean weekly status update. Imagine my surprise when the nice fellow at ASK-MINI told me that my MINI was born today! Yee-haw! Sorry to leave this fine group of Week 23 people, but glad my MINI is coming sooner than expected!
I ordered on 4/11 so it's been a long enough wait already!
BTW, owner's lounge still says "On Order". Not exactly up to date.

I went to the Dealer yesterday to look at the NAV and make sure I didn't want to change anything (more like add anything) since we are so close!! I ended up adding the NAV, I think it streamlines the center console and is really cool how it is voice activated. Compared to my husbands Lexus the NAV is no where near as nice but I have NAV now and use it so I was afraid I would be kicking myself if I didn't get it... What do you guys think of it? I would like some of my fellow week 23's opinions on the NAV... My husband obviously hates it and thinks it's a waste of money. I have to make a decision in the next few days since we are so close to hitting production. Oh I also changed my bonnet stripes to the sport stripes.
I specificly chose NOT to put NAV in my mini. As a garmin user since 2001, then using a BMW NAV. I have never had more frustration. My wife's 330i, and my recently sold 2006 M3 both have Navigation. If you know the address of the location you want to go to, then it works great.
however if you want to find restaurants, gas stations, commonly known as Points of Interest (POI) then the BMW/Mini Navigation is HORRIBLE. To me it is NOT worth the 2k to get a NAV that is underutilized. I say, save the money and buy a portible garmin and get a much better product for a fraction of the cost.
check the NAV section of this forum for further advice, but that is mine.

I added the NAV after initially leaving it off. I too am a long time Garmin user (1992) and really like their user interface.
If the NAV were just a moving map, I don't think that I would have added it as I could always throw the 276C on the dash and go. But it provides integration. See this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ti#post2237614
I also think that it depends on how you use the NAV. I am not a big POI user, I generally id the address prior to departure. What I do rely on the GPS for is the turn by turn - formmy understanding that part of the functionality is competent. I will be able to form an informed opinion once I have to live with the unit.
This topic draws almost as much zealotry as the manual vs. automatic holy wars!

I ordered the Nav primarily for aesthetic and entertainment integration reasons. I'm rarely if ever going to need it for directions but it's nice to know it's there if I do. Ultimately I just think the cockpit as a whole and the centre console in particular looks considerably better with the Nav in the middle of that fabled huge Speedo. Just my brass farthing.
Congrats !

I was, according to Ask MINI, a Week 22, so I was settling in with the fine folks of Week 22, but when my husband called today, he was told that we were moved back to Week 23 - it looks like everyone else who has had their week changed moved UP, but not me!
However, this looks like a swell group with whom to share the wait!
We put in our official order on April 19th and at that time our dealer estimated delivery the first week of July.
I keep checking the Owner's Lounge, coming to the NAM forum; I feel like Ralphie in A Christmas Story; checking the mailbox day after day; looking for his Little Orphan Annie Decoder Ring.

Other than the aesthetics of having the NAV built-in, I don't see the advantages of spending 8x as much money for something that isn't upgradeable.

Get your popcorn out and pull up a chair!

I feel guilty about complaining, since there are so many people on here that placed their orders LONG before me, but I'm gonna anyway!

I ordered 5/14, and was told by my MA to expect delivery in 6 weeks. This morning, I called 866-ASK-MINI to get the production date, was told "this week", and to "call your MA for the production week". WooHoo! That' meshes perfectly with my expectations!
Emailed the MA for the production week, she says "first week of June". Huh?
So I called MINI again, and yep, they stated Week 23.I played phone tag with my MA to ask what's going on, and basically what I'm hearing her say through voicemails is that "not sure what your question is, yes, it's on schedule, 6 weeks from the production date we'll have it". I left her another VM this evening and stated, "but you told me when I ordered it that it'd take 6 weeks....not "6 weeks from whenever we get you slotted for production!"". Never heard back from her.
Unfortunately she's off tomorrow, but I may call and talk to the sales manager and express my disappointment and see what they can do for me. (in my Voicemails to the MA, I asked if there was a car slated for their inventory that maybe they could bump and put me ahead at least a week)
What's REALLY frustrating is that the 6 weeks from date of order would work PERFECTLY for accepting delivery. I'm 200 miles from the dealer, and taking a weekend class this summer, and the last weekend in June/first weekend in July was perfect for figuring out how to get to St Louis to pick up my car. Now with a mid-July delivery (at best) I'm back in class then, and then have a week-long vacation right after that...so it may be AUGUST before I get my new baby!
OK, rant over! Thanks for reading this far!
Now to readjust to Mini-less life again and settle in for the long(er) wait!
Lost two, gained SIX!

Pretty sure mine will come through Charleston. Ordered through St Louis dealership.
Not sure I understand your confusion...Unless your MA told you 6 weeks from the day they put in the order. If that is the case, that was an incorrect statment.
As I am sure you have read throughout the forum, some folks are waiting upwards of 12 weeks from the day they order depending on model, and size of the dealership. The dealership only gets soo many slots to put in an order. So the smaller guys may not be able to fit your order into a "slot" for a month out. Some can fit one in a slot a week or so away.
In my case, i ordered my MCS on 5/10 and got week 23. Week 23 = the week your car is built through the birth canal at oxford...
So, 6 ~ 8 weeks from production week, in your case week 23, will your car be delivered to the dealer. So far we have heard week 23 will be delivered roughly the first to 2nd week of july, of course if your are west coast, I would add another buffer of a week or so...
Hope that answers your question. The ASK mini phone number is waaay more accurate than the owners lounge website..
Based on your order date, it looks like you got a decent slot, so big - mid july is roughly your 6 weeks. My MA said 6 - 8 weeks to keep it in reality of when the car would come. Since your ordered mid may, early to mid july is pretty close to the 6 - 8 week estimate..
