The 18th is the day it will arrive at the dealership, not my pickup date.

I'm still really excited. I have the whole long weekend to get Tristan's spot in the garage perfected. And my custom "Echo's Mat" from Poochstyle is going to arrive next week too, so the dogs will be able to ride in style in the MINI as soon as I do!

It's all good!

My MA hasn't had an update since the ship's arrival. He has put aside all the brochures and goodies for me for the day it can finally be picked up. I decided to go ahead and have them install the full package clear bra, plus same protection on the door cups, and rear bumper (to protect it from dog claws). I know it could be done locally, but I would rather not have to leave it somewhere and hope no one hurt or played with it. They're doing the dark tint and mud guards too.

I also spent every night this week after my shop closed, cleaning and arranging the front half of the garage for Otto. I washed, waxed and covered the BMW. I'm afraid she won't be getting much attention for awhile. I feel lucky to have a 20x40 garage so I could move stuff to the back area. I had to go back to the house when it turned dark at 6:30 or no one would have dinner and also the mountain lions come out at dusk.

Let's see, my Mini was halfway across the Atlantic before the OL said "En Route". By this standard it should say "at VDC" about the time it is on a truck to the dealer.

What will be funny is that days after I get home with the car it will probably say "at the dealer".

Mini doesn't seem to understand the "immediacy" of the internet. If people wanted their news a week late they would be reading Time or Newsweek not Drudge......

In a process (from completion to delivery) that takes about 3 weeks it's kind of dumb that the system runs 5 to 7 days behind.

Of course it's still way better then any other car tracking system I've been through.

You should check your garage. Maybe it's already there.

I just got a call from my MA (after leaving him a few very excited messages this week), and he said it's scheduled to come in on either the 16th or 17th. I'm going to wet my pants...

EMC, go now! Run! I couldn't sleep knowing it is at the dealer just around 300 miles away with potential buyers probably touching it and sitting in it. I told my MA to hide mine away until I get there. We will see first of next week.

Arghhh! My MA is in Vegas for the training. As of last night he hadn't been updated since the ship arrived in port.

Geez. I'm feeling left out here. I need to work, though so back to that. I'll check status later.

They still have no info on mine except that the boat arrived. Unbelievable. I'm starting to think it was damaged.
My sister criticized me asking if I was really going to drive down there the minute it was ready. I said no, but I wanted to say, "He-- Yes!" She had no understanding of this and thinks I'm wasting my money. I say why die with the money when you can have some fun while alive. This is day 771 for my wait for this car.
Can't tick her off, she has to drive the Suburban home with my husband. She angers easily. She could use a MINI just for attitude adjustment.

Don't let your sister get you down - you have the right attitude. Too many people go through life not living it - what a shame. You gotta have passion and a Mini is a great passion.

Hang in there - you have a date with a Mini in the near future.

So... we had told the MA that we needed a 3-day lead time to get them the check. We mentioned this several times. Nevermind that I knew when the car would be here a week before my MA. So a phone call from him after 5pm on the Thursday before a holiday weekend isn't quite a 3-day lead time when the bank is out of commission sat/sun/mon. D'oh!

When my brother bought his Lexus in Atlanta they let him take it off the lot as a loaner a few days before they had the check -- I guess they trust their customers more. My MA said it is MINI policy not to let cars go until they're settled.

Grrr... unless the check comes through tomorrow, I won't be able to get my baby until Wednesday, even though it will be ready on Sunday. Booo.

I repeat, BOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Sorry, just venting.

She should understand. Our dad got Alzheimers at 49 when I was 14 and she was 17. It was a horrible 15 years until it finally took him. Strong guy as he was a boatbuilder/rigger. He never got to enjoy life as his illness came just when he started to have some free time. My husband has MD and is deteriorating, unable to do anything but sit and read or watch tv. The Mini is my one birght spot at the moment. Wish it would get through the system. Life is short, share it with a Mini.

Cloud10, my best buddy and his brother had MD and they have already passed. I met my buddy when I was about 15 when another friend and I were looking for a race on our cruising street in Houston. He had just gotten married, and moved from Tucson to Houston to get away from his many traffic warrants. We raced him and he killed us. From then on, we were best of friends. He had one of the fastest street cars in the US and he always drew a crowd. I held his head while he died. Couldn't wait any longer for another heart. Not too long after that, his older brother died. Not to get you down about that but get your hubby out and about as much as he can until he just can't anymore. It sounds cheezy but you need to live until you die. That's one reason I love Minis.
