My MA just told me via email that he expects the car will be ready for delivery at the dealership by the 20th. I was surprised because I'm having the JCW Aero kit installed at the VDC.

He did say that the kits is painted in advance of arrival so installing it is quick.

Guess it helps that my dealer is less then a one hour drive from the port. In fact my driver to the dealer is longer then that!

Sometimes it pays to live close to the big city... but some of the time (like when you just need to get somewhere - anywhere) it just sucks.

OMG this is SO exciting! I'm also getting the JCW Aero kit on my MINI - BRG -- I hope to pick it up next weekend at South Bay Mini in Torrance -- keeping my fingers crossed! Can't wait. Anyone know if there is a local place in San Fernando Valley to purchase MINI badges and how are they affixed to the grill?

Would someone take a screen shot and post it, of the Isolde in port? I'm saving screen shots all the way along and I'd love to "see" it docked. My AIS login isn't showing the ship at all for some reason. (boo)

I've found the WW site and I can see that my car hasn't been unloaded yet, but since I can't see where the ship is I'm feeling lost!

 

She must be in port. I don't see her on AIS. Here's my screenshot anyway. There's one more ship than the last shot... so I guess we can add our own name plate

 

Yep, Long Beach is nice today too. It means our MINIs wil get a bright sunny greeting when they roll off the ship today. And here I am, refreshing my browser only to see that no one has posted since I did last night.

Oh well. I went wine tasting yesterday, and (almost) forgot to obsess about the pending arrival of my little car. Almost...

 

I've refreshed the WW Cargo tracking page countless times today to see if I can see when my Mini is off the ship. But alas, nothing yet. I suppose it is the watched kettle thing...It is a beautiful day, I got my laptop working again, I've been playing with my nephew (3) outside in the fabulous sun. It's a great day. And I'm happy knowing my Mini will be on CA soil shortly.

I'll go outside and play some more.

 

I know all of you are now wondering what day will you drive off in your baby. My MINI disembarked from the Madame Butterfly on 1/9 and arrived at my dealer in Phoenix, AZ, on 1/18.

 

I expect a lag with the WW site based on past updates. I'm also trying to find passable distractions, but then a MINI will drive by...

For all you Clubman owners, I've been taking photos of the teaser ads out and about. For example, the Embarcadero MUNI (oops, I first typed MINI!) station is COVERED with red-framed and blue-framed billboards that say Zig. Zag. -- yay!

Any news anyone on our babies? Do you think they went for a swim in the ocean today to play?

 

Can't believe I've able to stay away from the internet most of today. It was a beautiful day and I spent all afternoon working on my race car getting it prepped for the first race of the season next weekend in Las Vegas. At least that distraction will keep my mind off the Mini - otherwise I just might go nuts!

So what is the latest? Is no news, good news?

 

After reading posts that go back years of people wanting to continually track their Minis/BMW's, I sill can't believe that there isn't a webcam of the Port Hueneme docks. It is possible that since it is right next to a military base, they may not allow them. "It's 10:30 PM, do you know where your Mini is?" That's how I feel when I can't track or keep an eye on my new baby. Also, I guestimate I will get the call from Sandia Mini at the end of next week to come at get him.

 

It might just be a post 9-11 thing. Just recently I had a tour of container terminals 13 and 14 at the Port of LA (which was amazing to see) and they drove us around in a van. We were not allowed out of the van and not allowed to take photos. Security was very evident. So maybe Homeland Security doesn't allow them have a web cam?

 

The ship has sailed and is on it's way to Tacoma... that means our babies are on CA soil!!!

 

Somewhere out there, probably sitting in a cold and dark parking lot is my Mini, perhaps turning over and over in a sleepless fit wondering when she will be delivered to her new home. Poor baby, daddy is coming to get you soon, hang in there....

I wonder how it works, do all the cars get off in CA? We're much closer to Tacoma (about 30 minutes), but I assume our car got off at Port Hueneme with the rest.

I have no idea how any of this stuff goes down.

 

I work at a company that designs what consumer experiences SHOULD be like... I'm dying to redesign the MINI purchase and tracking experience. This experience with you guys has been such an inspiration!
The MINI experience is better than most, but could be so much better.

 

Ahhhhhh, the Italian Job is on... they're on the MINI scenes! Okay, I'm going to stop posting now. I'm the only nutter on here. ;-)

 

I found it funny that the ship shows as departed on the WW site, but my Mini still isn't listed as unloaded. ah well. Instead of tracking my Mini this week I'll be surfing all the other cool threads here, and I'll download the Owners Manual and start reading up.

I wonder how many other accessories I can order between now and whatever day I get to pick him up???!!!

I checked the WW site before I logged on, and coulda saved myself a step by just checking here. Anyway, for those of you who didn't check, here's the screen shot showing that Isolde has made her delivery.

I have to do all my shopping, cleaning, cooking, Costco trip every Sunday, but I distracted myself by washing my BMW convertible Buffy. Then I put her back into her garage. After all the errands were done I spent 2 hours Zymoling Buffy until it was dark.
I covered her to keep her clean. Hate to take her out and have her wheels get dirty again. That is probably why she has less than 6,000 miles on her. No rock chips or scratches or dirt after 6 years.
Now I know that I'll probably do the same with the Clubman. I am so afraid someone will hurt the cars.
I'll fill in the rest of the time till Otto arrives by making more room for him next to Buffy. It must be perfect for him. I'm happy he is smaller as I have a torn rotator cuff so this detailing gets a bit rough.

 

Tristan was discharged at 15:00 hrs today. Sigh. I guess that's the last update I'll see until I hear from my MA.

I hope everyone will be posting here when they get the call! I can't wait to hear how everyone loves their MINI!!!
