Anyone know the typical wait time from when they are unloaded to getting to dealers...at least the dealers in the NE that is...

I have my loan check ready to go, all made out and everything lol. My boss is even gonna give me a half a day whenever it comes in so I don't have to wait until a monday (my normal day off)

Colin, the typical wait time from being unloaded to your dealer varies greatly by whether or not your vehicle is getting any work done on it at the VDC, how far away your dealer or dealer's warehouse is from the VDC and whether or not your dealer uses a warehouse to hold vehicles. Given that you are in MA and assuming your dealer does not use a warehouse and that your car doesn't need anything reparied or fitted at the VDC, I would say that your vehicle will stay at the VDC for a day or two and then get on a truck headed for your dealership. Transit time is probably another 2 days and then maybe an additional 2-3 days until your dealer gets your car ready for you.

I actually live in NY not MA, i'm only a 2 hour drive and change from NYC. So I can't imagine it'll be 2 days in transport to my dealer. Nothing being fitted at the VDC, but i'm still hoping by the end of this week isn't completely unreasonable. But yeah, maybe I should plan for the worst lol.

Your MA would be the best person to tell you. The VDC supposedly calls the dealer when the vehicles are released to the trucking company for transport.

teachinkids, nice to hear from you. My car is at the VDC in NJ. It's been there since Monday and I'm not sure how much longer it'll be there for. It's already been a long wait with the reorder and all. I hope it is worth it as you say. Have you taken any pics yet?

As predicted, Teachinkids... Mine just left Southampton and you're all set. At least it's on the way!

funkdaddy, it's not so much that I really love Xenons, but I really didn't care for the Mini halogen lights. They were nowhere near as good in looks, brightness and design as those on my current vehicle (Mazda6). The Xenons are not ideal due to sharp cutoff, but I like them better than Mini halogens.

Those of you who had their car unloaded in NYC on the FREEDOM, I recommend you call your MA and find out whether your vehicle has cleared the VDC yet or not.

russr, have you cleared VDC -- enroute to P-ton? What's your ETM = Estimated Date of Motoring?

Do you know whether it is cheaper (than the dealer) to have VDC install certain accessories? I'm not too sure how that all works and if you can order such things just before the car arrives. Maybe I have this all mixed up. Someone alluded to such an arrangement at VDC on another thread. Thinking about that Ipod adapter (dreaming of JCW susp/stage 1 ) .

TK as far as I know, my car is still at the VDC. My MA at princeton said the vehicle hadn't been assigned a stock number yet so that means it hasn't cleared the VDC. I have no idea about accessories at the VDC and how that works. All the accessories that I ordered are done by the dealer at their warehouse.

Russr - true. I haven't driven the Mini at night so I can't comment, but as long as you're happy, it's worth it!

My MA replied to an email I sent and only said it takes 7-10 days to get to them (Princeton) from the VDC.

Talked to my MA a few min ago. Car is done being checked over at the VDC, just awaiting the truck to be brought up here! He says I might be able to come get it saturday, but that's best case scenario, he said monday afternoon is more realistic. It all depends on what time they get it friday. I also got approved for 5.69 percent through MINI financing for 60 months...not bad!

Colin, great news! That probably means that our vehicles are also done clearing the VDC (we hope). Did you get anything installed such as JCW or other accessories?

I don't think the 5.69% rate you got is through Mini Financial as the best rate that MINI offers is 6.7% (that is the dealer's buy rate). The 5.69% rate you got for 60 months is probably through a local bank that your MINI dealer partnered with. The Mini Financial (MFS) rates are set by Mini headquarters and do not vary from state to state.

Colin, Good job on a great rate. How did you get the 5.69%? Best I had was 6.43%. Did you have to show/threaten another rate?

TK, i threatened with 6.125 that I could get from Capital One for 60 months and they basically told me that they wouldn't even try to beat that. They said it was too aggressive. That kinda blows since I know other folks are getting better rates.

That does blow. There is a financing rate thread here somewhere. It points to various credit unions. I'm going to give them a shot. I'll let you know what I find. Congrats on your impending arrival! As you can see from the Faust thread, my prediction of the delay was right. I'll be lucky if they are offloading by Monday the 28th! Can't believe I reordered a month and a half ago.

I didn't tell them anything I just submitted the paperwork...BUT. My dad co-signed with me and his credit is fantastic and he had just purchased a BMW in cash a couple years before from the same building (Keeler BMW/Mini are in the same building) So even though that technically shouldn't help. I think it did.

I didn't get any JCW options, just factory stuff...I'm taking care of insurance stuff today so I can fax the cards over. That and now I just need to wait until my car is ready lol.

Just spoke to my MA. He said the vehicle has cleared the VDC and is on its way to the dealership. I was told that if they are able to order and install all accessories by tmw., I'll be able to pick it up on Saturday. Yay!!! Let's hope that everything is in good shape on the vehicle.
