PRODUCTION WEEK 2 SUPPORT GROUP
Thx Russr: I got it!! Picked it up last night. Very glad that process is over. Love the car, though. Commuting was a whole new world today. I bet you are feeling the same.
Russr, I can't believe, after all this -- even different ships, you and I picked up at virtually the same time last evening. Simply amazing.

TK, what did you do about financing in the end? The FED dropped the rates significantly since you and I first started looking especially in the last few days. Also, did morristown try to sell you any additional stuff like extended warranties, service, protection, etc?
We should probably meet at one of these NJ MINI events.

LOL...know what you mean. It's 10 times worse if there's a problem with your vehicle and you don't know when it's going to be fixed. I also felt it difficult to not go insane.
Hang in there SMS. It'll happen soon and you'll be one happy camper.
russr, you've had a bit of unluck with the delivery of your car. Have your camera charged up...
Has anyone seen the movie "The Hitcher"? It's a pretty good flick about teenager hired to deliver a car across the country. He gets involved with a madman that wants to cause him some pain.
Anyway, I figure someone at BMW on the coast let their kid have some fun delivering a MINI to Oklahoma. Part of the dealer prep is reconnecting the speedometer cable.

Sorry to jump in on your thread (I'm a week 5'er), but I have a question that I think you guys will be able to answer best because you are the most recent group to get your MINIs.
My MINI completed production yesterday and it's in the "Awaiting Transport" status, so I called ASK-MINI to see if they had any info on when it might get loaded onto a ship and start heading my way. The guy told me that they usually sit on the dock for a week to a week and a half before being loaded, and it would be about a month before mine would get here! WHAT!?!? Is this right??? Please tell me no!!
I'm on the East coast.

I'm not a week 2er, 08DSMCS, but a week 47er. I watch this forum to see if Russr ever gets his Xenons!
Anyway, mine sat in Southampton for about a week as I recall. It was done on the 10th of December and shipped out the 18th. As I'm in New Mexico, the trip through the Panama Canal was horribly long, about four weeks. It finally arrived on the 10th (ish) in Californina then on the 17th in NM. Other cars near week 47 living in the east coast got their cars long before I got mine.
It's a brutal wait, but God is it worth it. Try to distract yourself, visit NAM a lont, get the WhiteRoofRadio podcast. Before you know it your baby will be here.

Did anybody get lucky and have their MINI loaded on a ship sooner than a week or should I just plan on it being a month before I get mine? From what others are saying, there's a ship leaving today (1/31) and another on 2/2, so I'm crossing my fingers.:impatient
Hello 08DSMCS,
Happy to answer IMHO: I'm in NJ. Mine arrived at the dock late afternoon on 1/11/08 and in my hands 1/30 = 19 days top to bottom. That being said, it waited 5 days to get loaded and set sail. It took eleven days to land/unload, as opposed to as few as 9. Once here it got on a truck on 1/29 and arrived at the dealer the same day. That last part from unloading to dealer was fast. That depends on whether you have any problems at VDC or items to be installed there and whether it is the end of the month.
So I'd guess 19 days is a median or mean wait time, barring unforseen problems/delays as detailed here and on the recent Faust thread. Others here set sail earlier in the day on 1/11 and also arrived at their dealers on the east coast a commensurate several days earlier. So, I'd say 3 weeks, conservatively, so you don't go totally out of your mind after 2 weeks thinking it should be here. But check the sticky at the top of this thread. You should be able to find out when it is booked/loaded. Not thru MINI, which is notoriously slow/conservative. Some Minis take a while to find a ship on which to get loaded. Hope that helps. Like your color/option choices. You'll be happy.

08DSMCS, for east coasters the wait time at the docks is a few days at most. My car completed on a Tuesday or Wednesday and got loaded on the ship and left on Friday. Then the journey to NY takes about 9 or 10 days.
hey teachinkids, I thought we were both originally week 49ers. Got the xenons and man are they bright...

I recall someone on this thread got on a ship nearly the same day they arrived at the dock. So check daily -- 100 X Daily.
PS Russr - the xenons do rock -- I'd say well worth the extra wait.
08DSMCS, Where are you located generally? Where's your dealer?

I'm in North Florida (Jacksonville). My dealer is in South Florida (Miami). So my MINI will be coming right past me from South Carolina I'm assuming.
Russr, Been noticing other drivers following me a bit closer than I was used to in my Avalanche (or maybe I never paid attention before at my previous riding height). They were also trying to zoom around me. (Course, I've been babying my baby - keeping my revs low -- nearly 29 mph avg on a stop'n go, hilly commute.) Flipped on the frt/rear fogs and presto, everyone backed off. Nice.
