Mine was complete with production ummm...january 8th i believe it was. The CEL only seems to come on when i'm in sport mode, cruising along in 6th at 70 or so, and if I just give gas instead of downshifting to accelerate. As soon as I switch out of sport mode it goes off....it's weird but i'm gonna hunt on the forum here and call my service dept today to see what they say too.

 

TK, I'm technically not the owner of the vehicle yet so I'm not sure I can call and inquire about it. Let's see how things go today. If it goes past today, I'll be forced to renew the lease on my current vehicle for another month and I'm going to ask them to reimburse me for that. If they refuse, I'll probably walk.

 

I spoke to the service manager at Princeton MINI and he told me that when the vehicles are shipped they are put in transport mode. In transport mode the vehicle is not drivable beyond 10mph and the computer is locked. He said that my vehicle only partially made it out of transport mode and so they are working with MINI North America to figure out how to bring it out of this mode properly.

I am in a tight spot as I need to return my current leased vehicle by Thursday, so the service manager agreed to give me a loaner until this is sorted out.

Unfortunately, he said he doesn't know when this will be resolved as he's waiting on MINI. He hopes for today, but can see this going on for a few days.

 

That sounds much better. At least you have some detail and they are helping you out. Hope you're getting the JCW tuned loaner. 2d thought, maybe it better be an MC so you don't get any ideas!

 

Yeah, hopefully it is an MC so that when I get my MCS, it'll be that much better. TK any news about your car? I imagine it is still at the VDC.

 

Russr, Thx for asking - no news. So it's surely still at VDC based on your advice. i.e., same day delivery to dealer in NJ once it gets on a truck from VDC. I'm sure they'd be calling me to schedule delivery as soon as they know it's on a truck. Otherwise, like FunkDaddy, I've had no real responses to a couple info requests.

What's strange is that FunkDaddy used the same dealership that I did, so I'm not sure how come they've had my car since Thursday and have not even gotten back to him about his. I'm guessing his MA is just delinquent.

TK, assuming your MA is not like FunkDaddy's, I'm sure you'll get a call on Thursday or Friday. They will generally call you as soon as your vehicle is assigned a stock number.

Gotta say though, our week 2 is not lookin' so great so far. My car has issues and Colin's also does. I wonder if some of the other cars are held up for similar reasons.

Just talked to my MA. My car should be in Jacksonville tomorrow! I'm having stuff done to it, so I probably won't be able to pick it up until Monday-Tuesday.

Quick question: Anyone here getting the clear bra (i.e., plastic film) applied to the front of the car? Pros/cons? Most posts seem to recommend it. Not too sure ... any thoughts by the wise men of this thread?

Doh! I spoke too soon. Turns out the Aero kit wasn't put on at the VDC... so they are going to put it on this week and I should have it by Sat - which is when I was going to pick it up anyway. Oh well. 3 more days isn't too bad.

I went to Princeton MINI today to pick up my loaner. While I was there, I asked to see my MINI. They showed it to me and it looked great, but appeared to be quarantined almost like it was in solitary confinement in a section away from all the BMWs. Anyway, they gave me a loaner MC with about 5500 miles on it. It is an automatic and gotta say that I don't care much for the automatic. Seemed very passive in regular mode and a little too high strung in sport mode. Manual model was nice, but not as nice as a manual transmission. I had a lot of fun driving it, but I sure do hope I get my real car soon.

All, they were able to fix my car...it turns out it wasn't the OBC at all. Three days of having it in the shop and they found the button that controls the OBC at the end of the left stalk was bad. I would think that this would be something they'd test the first day, but oh well.

Going to pick it up tonight. Thanks for the encouragement...I'll post pics soon.

Congratulations Russr! Sucks they took so long to figure out the problem, but at least they did figure it out! Now you need to get some miles on that sucker to break it in! I have 600 already lol.
