Whoah, 205/45R17 on an 8"-wide wheel? You're going to have MAJOR stretchiness. (See some of the pictures in this thread.) Is that what you're going for? If you just want to match a tire to the wheel, I'd at least go with a 215, if not a 235. I'd say 225, but there's not much available in 225/40R17.

Will these wheels fit with no problems or are they to wide for hitting the struts or rubbing ??
The wheels will be close to the strut in front, but they should clear by a few mm.

205/45 won't stretch too much on an 8.

Is the wheel rubbing on the rear arch - causing the rear arch to pull away from the bodywork?

Where is everyone buying their adapters to make the BBS RS fit? I want to get some 17" BBS RS but most of them come in 5x114.3. Do they make adapters for these? Is it better to redrill them? Or do I need to look for some 5x130 pattern and buy adapters to make them fit?

did i make a mistake? i am waiting on my TD PR1.2's in 17x8 to come in, but i have a set of bridgestone podenza's (sp?) sitting in the garage that are 225/45/17, should they have been 225/40/17?!?!? i bassed my decision on the fact that stock tires are 205/45/17, was this wrong, or will i be ok? btw, im running stock ride height.

Those sizes should still be okay. Still under 3% diff in rolling diameter. Your speedo will just be slower. Would have been closer to stock sizes with a 40 sectional.

225/45/17 won't be a big issue, but it certainly won't be visually attractive. That's a lot of sidewall for 17's

Image BPS split rims. 18x8's on the rear. Only 7.5 on the fronts though fitted with 215 35 18. Just needs a little more drop on the front though yet.

True story, but on his 1st gen MINI the clearance is not exactly the same in the wheelwells.

After about 30 lovely hrs of pulling these apart and re siliconing them etc. I finally put them on the car. I've had them sitting in boxes for about 4 years and recently took the plunge to get the perfect , but not my taste , polished wheels powder coated and mounted with a set of Falken rt 615's that the local rep wanted a review of . The wheels are 17/ 8 and a billet 3 piece by a company in the UK called Super Lite. They have been making race wheels for many years now and have all kinds of styles. I put the first 100 miles on them this weekend to get the shine off them and will go at it harder next weekend but I can already say they will stick a lot better than my other set. This set will be the " faster " option between my " fast " and " fastest " set

Ouww!

Thanks, I was hoping you'd say 225/45 or 235. I just got some Toyo R888s in 235/40-17 to fit on 17x8. I will pray to the Car Gods they fit.
